Post subject: Are no damage runs accepted as well?

Do you guys accept no damage runs from games as well? Like clearing a shmup without losing lives/bombs, or finishing a beat 'em up without taking damage. That's because clearing a game as fast as possible isn't really my forte, but I can do perfect runs, so I'm wondering.

There are a handful of runs which avoid taking damage to save time, but it's not a common category and generally not recommended to do, as it (ironically) can make a TAS look quite sloppy. And besides that, these runs still do aim for fastest time. For e.g. autoscroller shmups, these are generally only accepted if they're also the fastest time (eligible for Vault) or considered entertaining (eligible for Moons/Stars). Runs that don't qualify for either will be rejected.

No damage run is an acceptable category if -it makes the run substantially different from taking damage to save time -The resultant run is entertaining enough to be in moons, as it is not a vaultable category

Interestingly, there are some vault runs tagged "Forgoes time-saving damage" that are not shoot-'em-ups.

i suspect these runs were grandfathered in, and are not acceptable under the new guidelines. A run the forgoes time saving damage is not vaultable. If it's not a moon it can't be published. I'm pretty sure those runs would be rejected if they were submitted today.

zaphod77 is correct. And those vault movies that forgoe time-saving damage, would be obsoleted by movies that do (get on it TASers!)
