So if I understand correctly, that submission was rejected because it's slower than the work-in-progress in this thread, and the WIP in this thread has never been submitted and its author has disappeared.
Well, that's pretty sad for a game as (in)famous as this. Would it be ok to submit the WIPs from this thread on its author's behalf, since he already posted them on the forum here? Or if not, can we contact him somehow?

Not beating (or matching) all know records was the reason. If someone makes his won run and matches the time per room, it will be accepted.

So yeah, I said I'd re-do the run, and a year later I'm finally here re-doing it! Under Kurikinton's same conditions (Medium Any%, I guess we call Glitched?).
Just finished Tourian (where almost all of the warping takes place) and am back to Megaman. Up to this exact point I've saved 152 frames over Kury's run/WIP (which is 3.04s since the game runs at 50 FPS)! I can save about 3 more seconds at Dracula with a few tricks, and other ones far away (especially at the Minecart and the Guy), and the credits can be glitched to reach the tree much earlier (would this be legal?).
Hopefully I'll get it done this month, if I don't get lazy again lol.
Normally you have to wait like 4 minutes of credits just to press Left to dodge the last apple. You can die on the credits. The RTA actually skips this, but we time it until the last input, so it's like 4 extra minutes of nothing. Pressing S at some spots during the credits will glitch it and can reduce it to about 30 seconds or so. But idk if that kind of thing is allowed here or not. I guess it is, but who knows.
Sometimes people use the very last input they need as the end of their movies, but that arbitrary decision is kinda unpopular here. You might as well glitch the credits to add entertainment value.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be allowed unless it actually renders the game incomplete.

What Samsara said.

I'll leave a 4 minutes WIP here up with what I finished so far.

Up to that point, 288 frames (5,76 seconds @50FPS) were saved over Kurikinton. About Dracula, it MAY be possible to kill him in one jump, but after about 3.5 hours of grind, my bests were 2 frames away, so I eventually gave up. Might save ~35 frames, I'm not sure anymore.
1) Why are the hidden items already collected in that WIP?
2) What wuss points (translation: what extra save points) are you using in the route?
1) Oh wow thanks for pointing that out. I actually made the movie in a VM with empty SAVE folder but recorded it in my main OS, which I have all items collected. They do not affect the sync at all, but I should have noticed it before recording.
2) All saves from the Minecart section will be used because upon reloading the game uses your x position for the cart as well, which can be used to save a lot of frames. 2 of the 3 WUSS saves from Entrance of the Guy are also used to get faster fire patterns.
So then runs on a higher difficulty would have an extra second or so in the Minecart section, with Impossible having to play the Minecart without any savewarps.
...It's incredibly strange to think that a game such as IWBTG has savewarps. I always thought you had to actually save after getting the orbs for them to count, but I'm a bad player anyway. I'm guessing that's what you did to get from the Bowserboat orb back up to the path merge?

I don't know about comparing Medium to Hard, but Medium to Impossible can save about 18 seconds with save abuse.
And you normally do. But when the game has no save and you move to a new world, when you reload the game moves you to the initial section of THAT world instead of the whole game, and on some cases, somewhere with no apparent sense from that world. This post from the previous page has an in-depth explanation. Since you have no save, the red orbs from bosses also aren't stored properly and when you restart they aren't lost. Something like that can be done on Impossible mode when you press R with red orbs: the game takes you to the save selection screen, but has a delay (about 2 seconds) to clear the red orbs, but if you start a save on Impossible before that (or any difficult actually), the bosses would still be beaten, meaning not only that warp glitch is very possible on Impossible, but you can also die and still progress (on a bored day I got 5 bosses beaten on Impossible abusing that lol).
some of the fangames have savewarping as AN INTENDED MECHANIC.
I wanna be the Boshy is infamous for this. you cannot beat the game without savewarping.

Although the kind of savewarping you do in Boshy leaves you in the same spot you saved but you get your double jump back.

Hi. I know I'm 9 years late or so, but I'm really interested in this game right now, but I can't access the video. It says it's private, and there's no WTF file available. Is there any way you (or someone else) can finish the TAS to submit it? I am blind (literally), so I am unable to help.
