When I start an game core is used an path for roms. If I choice another core the last path is used.
If roms are in each specific path and not all in one path allways have that choice an path.
I see that has an option Paths for each core, but I not see an option to choice an system core before of load an rom.
I have used hardlinks to avoid this issue.
Have an option to avoid this ?
Thanks.
not not.
When starting Bizhawk has just one menu to choice an rom.
If has an folder for each type of core have that change the path when opening File \ Open ROM.
If use Genesis and wait to open SMS has that change the path. Config \ Paths has option to choice which folders are the roms, but when using File \ Open ROM this setting not help.
I'm not sure what the ROMs path configuration for each platform means anyway. It doesnt seem sensible. There is no way to pick a core first, so the ROMs path for a platform can't be used. If someone finds this valuable, it should be implemented in the file menu as "open core" or somesuch and cascade to cores with known ROMs path

Either "Always use recent path for ROMs" is what you want. Or you want to set Global -> ROM
Or you don't fully understand the situation
Or you aren't communicating what you are asking for and I have no idea what this is about

I'm just going out with a complete guess and saying your native tongue isn't English due to the way you type Augusto.
Can you explain what you mean in your language.

He wants to actually use different rom paths for different consoles, and the only way that makes sense is to pick the console before opening a rom. Seems clear enough to me.

Either he would need to a way to change his preferred core all the time, or he is intending to use this for one platform.
If it is just one platform he's primarily using, then set the Global Rom folder to that folder, and it will always load from that one, done.
If it is the former, that seems like a hassle for the user so I don't know what's being gained.
c:\my\nes\roms
d:\bigfiles\psxisos
q:\roms\oldroms\completearchiveofroms\sms\usa
suppose those are where my roms are.
now, I want to play a NES game. so I open rom, and the current path is... where? who knows. Now I want to play a SMS game.. and the current path is... where?
What I want to do is say File>Open Console>NES and have it already in the NES roms. or File>Open Console>SMS and have it already in the SMS roms.
"What I want to do is say File>Open Console>NES and have it already in the NES roms. or File>Open Console>SMS and have it already in the SMS roms."
Exactly :)
probably that, with one item at the top that pops open a listbox of consoles.
Later when we have 'open advanced' we could jam it in there instead of adding yet another thing to the file menu.
In moment using here hardlinks just for exe and dlls without ini with multiples folders for each system. In each folder using another INI for each system.
In moment is an good option to use.
Is it just me or is the "menu|View|Window Size" function broken? It always resets the window size to 4x (1280x960, using a SNES game).
No menus (except dropdowns), they're a pain to use. Something like this is much more comfortable (just a mockup, it could be structured much differently).
Note that a lot of items in the current menu structure are basically configuration checkboxes and should be moved into a window. Setting them on a new BizHawk install is tedious.

creaothceann, I dont understand what im looking at. I see some tabs and some broken buttons with no labels.
The proposal on the table doesn't have anything to do with having to click lots of checkboxes. It's basically just one more (optional) click to pick what platform you want.
These checkboxes in menus are done for
1. convenient programming
2. user convenience: when you DO want to set these types of options, it's frequently just one at a time
yes, it's annoying when setting things up initially. we're not going to optimize for initial setup. adding additional convenience for initial setup is extra work.
The buttons have mouseover hints that indicate the function; I didn't want to spend the time designing icons just for a quick mockup application.
The point is that a GUI not based on menus is just annoying to use. It's like the difference between Office 2003 and 2007.
Oh thats just a toolbar or ribbon based UI. Toolbars suck, but ribbon is kind of a cool principle, if it werent in a program that you were already used to and didnt need to change.
