Its a glitch. You have to press the run button in the right frames and release it again. This way you can gain the shinespark without the need to run and on this way you can perform it even in small rooms where it is normally impossible.

How's the progress on the hack?

Not much, I would say 65% complete. I always notice some errors in the rooms I modified before and have to correct them. But now I think I fixed the most so I can continue on the next rooms.

Think we could see a demo, or some screenshots? Or are you keeping it totally hush-hush until its finished? :D

I think I better keep it until its finished to not spoil the surprises in the hack later.

I'm sure plenty of people here would voulenteer to betatest the hack before you release it to the general public (myself included)

The problem is I'm not sure if a average Metroid player (like most potential beta testers) will have the skill to beat it at all. I think I will just release it and then if someone find some bugs just post them anywhere. For that we can make a sepearate topic after the hack is complete.

Download the currently published run, Teri does it a few times.

This glitch is nearly impossible to perform on a console or in live conditions, you need frame-perfect timing to do it perfectly. Teri's run is here: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=311 Just enable the "show input" option so you can see when Teri presses which buttons during this glitch!

As Trillian would say.. "No, just very improbable." ;)

The thing is, it'd never happen. :P

You're even discounting finite improbability devices with that sort of loony talk.

In order for a human to actually do it in real time, they'd probably need to have a perfectly timed 30 Hz muscle spasm of both index fingers, or something unlikely like that. Or maybe a really good autofire controller would do. (If I understand which trick you're talking about. Which on second thought I probably don't.)

You need to press the button for 1 frame every 8-15 frames or something like that, I don't have the numbers in my head, or whatever you say. :)

I realize this may not be the right place to ask, but can someone PM me the .zmv or .smv of the 47:04 or 45 minute 100%s? Both posters' websites were down last I checked.

I tried playing this game a little, didn't get past the space colony station in the beginning of the game, because in the fourth room of the escape I got hit by one of those smoke thingies, I really can't think of what to write. But to the point, I saw in another video that it's possible to get through that room without ever stopping, so I thought I'd just try to enter in another frame, but it didn't help, so I replayed the whole escape sequence, which didn't help, am I forced to replay now? Is it possible to manipulate the room, or is it chosen when I start the game? I hope you can understand what I mean, since my english sucks.

Look at the WIP that Michael Flatley posted. You *want* to get hit by the steam thingys.

I'm talking about the room before the one that you wanna get hit in.

Has someone made an AVI of MF's WIP? If it's never going to be completed it would be nice to be able to show massive people who would then team up against time and space and will a full complete run into existance.

I wish that run could be finished some day. So much efforts were put in it. I still can't believe no one wanna finish that one. Anyway... if you wanna see it finished, do it yourself. And that's too bad I don't have much spare time !
