You'd just have to start from SaveRAM after doing your test menu changes. Do File > Movie > Record Movie... then pick the "from SaveRAM" start option, then open TAStudio.
Excellent, after following these last steps, it started without problems or errors, with the difficulty changed and all the changes saved, thank you very much. Now to create TAS as if there were no tomorrow. Edit: I think this will not be an acceptable submission since I am starting from a Sram, right ?

It's just game setup, not continuing after some prior completion. And there's no other way to do it right now anyway.

Is it possible to load MAME builtins in MAMEHawk, main examples being TTL games like Pong and Breakout? Because I find the idea of TAS submissions that have an empty or N/A ROM field greatly amusing
I don't understand.
There are drivers in MAME, such as Pong and Breakout, that do not require any ROMsets in order to run- you just use MAMEUI or the commandline to launch the game directly, ie, 'mame pong', and it just works. BizHawk, however, naturally expects one to open a ROM in order to want to play a game- is there any way to get around this?

Didn't know about this. What happens if you give it an empty archive named pong?

It just throws the exception below, then asks me to choose a file from the archive (like when you open a MAME ROMset without having the required other sets bundled).

There's no way to use cheats? (i.e: to unlock extra characters in Tekken games)

Robotron 2084 displays the (!) sign on several inputs, mainly the joystick inputs that are used for moving and shooting.

Seconding this one, can't seem to get Lua to recognize the inputs and they show up as ! on the BizHawk display.

For Rampart (both the Joystick and Trackball version), the service button simply acts like a coin button. Both the coin buttons also act like a coin button. Service mode can still be activated via the Arcade settings in bizhawk, but there will be no way to exit it when the game is powered on. No idea if this applies to other games or just Rampart. This was done on the bizhawk dev build posted like 20 hours ago as of posting this (devbuild_0cbc65ba if it means anything). EDIT: I hadn't looked until now, but this problem is mentioned earlier in the thread, with a slight solution.
I like 3D Spider-Man games.

Non standard inputs like analog inputs vary a lot and there is not much information on how to set or configure them in BizHawk. I have had limited success with them personally. I think answers to these questions would be useful for users. Specifically how to TAS a game with them and steps to configure a physical controller. 1) Lightguns 2) Trackballs (Tasing in TAStudio seems to rely on incremental degree changes?) 3) Steering Wheels (ex: Outrun) Some other unusual controllers I have not tested personally. 4) Police 911 *lightgun + motion sensor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m5Titn-Bw4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_911 5) MOCAP Boxing *motion sensor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9dRW2oEM6I 4) 720 and Skate or Die *multi positional joystick?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiRu-XdOkAo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cLSc6sS1Q8 5) Major Havoc *roller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcFB0cWd6Jk 6) Star Wars (from Atari) *yoke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE13lBPNwcI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnDjAf77oi4 7) Frontline *rotary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYr68JRT8OA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxR5oSWFbKU 8) Roadrunner *Not sure if there is any difference from an emulation standpoint for the Hall Effect Joystick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lzJFaY0F-U 9) Cyber Sled *dual analogs This one I have made a TAS so the inputs work, but been unable to get it to make sense with a controller. The physical controller analogs are all off kilter where straight does not move straight. 10) Walk the Dog *Leash + Treadmill *lol I would have loved to have played this weird game https://www.arcade-museum.com/Videogame/walk-the-dog https://www.highwaygames.com/arcade-machines/walk-the-dog-8286/ There are other unusual controllers out there, but this is probably a decent enough list.

When I try to run the Killer Instinct game it freezes on this screen. Does anyone know a way to solve it? Note: I have the correct files, I can open the game in the current MAME emulator, but not in Bizhawk. Killer Instinct 2 opens normally in Bizhawk.

What does the questionmark icon say when you click it (bottom left)?

I had the same result with Killer Instinct working in MAME but not in MAMEHawk, but still worth trying to get working since it may just be my system (which seems to be dying). Killer Instinct 2 would crash for me after the first battle in MAMEHawk. Not sure of behavior of Killer Instinct 2 in MAME. Maybe selecting different BIOS settings could work. Arcade (in Menu) -> MAME Settings -> BIOS. Make sure you have both from the same version number from MAME. In the multi disk loader make sure you have the game romset listed first, then the CHD file.

I've tried this before, but it doesn't work either.

Sounds like you are using merged zips when you need to use non merged zips. Take a look at the link below. https://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/MAME/VideoTutorial#DifferenceBetweenMergedAndUnmergedGameZips Battletoads also required two files so you need to use the Multi Disk Bundler to load it into Bizhawk. http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=btoads&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1 Metal Slug 2 also needs multiple files. http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=mslug2&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1

Do you have another site like that? It's down for two days.
