Introduction

Speed Racer in The Challenge of Racer X is a neat racing game for the DOS that offers some unique mechanics inspired in the homonymous anime. You can activate the jump springs, afterburners, guns, tree-cutting saws, underwater scuba-driving, etc. In this movie I finish the first level (of many) that involves going all circuits once. An all-level movie would be too long and repetitive to do without getting horribly bored.
I also go for success in all the missions assigned to each race. These missions give you extra money, which is relatively useful at the beginning. However, by the last level I just do them for completion purposes.
I created an additional installation movie because the installation in this game takes unreasonably long. I manually defeat the copy protection by checking the Mach Y specs documentation.

nymx: Another win for eien86… "You Did It!" This was the kind of game that just keeps rolling, like a record player. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the left or right side of the track – the pace stays the same. From the very start, you kept the momentum going, no let-up. Sure, there were a couple of spots where things slowed down a bit, but given the circumstances, that was to be expected.
Now, about that ending… I was a little caught off guard. It was the only section with such tough conditions where you had to plow through obstacles and run off the road. It originally looked like you were ending input early. I honestly thought I’d see that somewhere else, but even when it did happen, it was very minor and you didn’t show any signs of slowing down.
All in all, everything looks great...accepting to "Standard".

despoa: Processing...

Oh hell yeah, I played so much of this game when I was a kid. This is a difficult game (especially the jungle and city tracks) and it's satisfying to see you blast by everyone right away, I voted Yes. In my opinion this goal is the most sensible option for a watchable TAS. For those not familiar with the game, once you beat each track, you unlock the next level, which adds a new section to the end of the previous level's tracks. IIRC this goes up to 7 levels, although it has been a while. Since you'd be rehashing the same track sections repeatedly I do agree that a movie would get very long and repetitive if it reached the last level. I also don't remember there being any proper ending or credit roll, although I can't confirm any of this since there's no full playthrough online. Also as a side note, the middle track on the selection screen (with the blue dashed border) is just a practice track, which does get extended with each level, but doesn't affect progress at all.

After reviewing this submission, the only thing that I saw that was a bit funny...was at the end. At first, I thought you were running into things because of ending input early. Then you start to take off again. Can you explain that situation?
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

Hi Nymx! The running into things is almost unavoidable. That part is extremely treacherous and that was the fastest way to traverse it. In order to not crash against anything, I would have needed to slow down considerably. As per the ending, the movie has two last "Enter" inputs to enter the "you win the world championship" sequence. That's why I didn't slow down towards the end.

Ok. Sounds good.
