@Memory There are still moves to do that I lack tools for, and the DOOM and Linux platforms can't be dissolved until someone with access helps me out. But yes, publications, submissions and userfiles are accounted for in the Games I could move. @coolman Good to keep in mind. Currently 11 pubs are still listed for DOOM so we can't remove the Movies link yet.

We'll use automation for that. We're not manually updating pre-pc pub/sub names in order to not push too many changes over to yt, which eats the quota.

But you're an editor. Open a game, view its Game Versions and edit the platform in each ROM version. I left two games for you to try out I would also like to ask, how to name Doom custom levels TASes? I checked SMW hacks and, even though most of them provide whereabouts that this is SMW game, some names don't tell anything. Without DOOM marker, it will create confusion, because custom levels mostly have abstract names, which may collide with other game and mods sooner or later, and make you orient on thumbnails. I would, at least, keep the base game's name, like "PC Doom II: Cold Front"

Woah I forgot about this detail! Yeah that's probably the best way to name those, without spelling out the full title of doom2 alongside full title of the pwad. PWADs for first game may need some thinking...

I missed this topic the first time around, but I'm curious about where Flash would fit in. Although there's currently a "Flash" platform, it doesn't actually include all games made in Flash. I first came across this in my own submission #9102: OceanBagel's Windows Pokéspeedrun in 00:08.50 of a Flash game that was distributed as a Windows executable, which I originally submitted under "Flash" but was later corrected to "Windows" (presumably soon to be "PC"). Although I'm not familiar with all the edge cases, I do know a large portion of Flash games were originally distributed as browser games for multiple different operating systems. That would certainly make it difficult to single out one specific OS for these games, but if we're moving towards combining different OSes into "PC" then I think it may be appropriate to include Flash in that category as well. As for the topic as a whole, one downside I see is not being able to tell from the title which version of the game is being used for games with OS differences. However, that's already the case for games with version differences, and OS differences can still be captured in submission notes (or maybe even the "Game Version" field of the submission) if they matter for that submission. Overall, I think this is a good change to make (although it has the unfortunate side effect of changing the joke in the legendary #6699: Masterjun's PC PC "PC" in 04:22.050).

Game Version is only part of the issue. For a simple Game entry like Balatro, you have to:
  1. Set its Version to PC. (You did this part.)
  2. Catalog its publication to the new PC entry. You can only do this if there's a matching framerate (here, NTSC 60) in the table, otherwise the movie time (here, 2:28.300) gets messed up.
  3. Do the same for its submission, since it's cataloged separately.
  4. Catalog its Userfile as PC. These can always be done because Userfiles don't require setting framerate.
You'll notice that steps 2 and 3 are impossible for editors to do for the pubs/subs I referred to in my earlier list because of unusual framerates. E.g. this Mari0's framerate of 36248.72223254131 is nowhere in the PC framerate dropdown, so it won't let you save changes in the Catalog. So the run stays as Linux, nothing was solved, as I reported a month ago. That's why I asked for help moving framerates, not the step 1 and 4 that any editor can do.

So this is in the plans for a future month when there's room to push platform changes before hitting the quota?

Huh, automation has gone too far xD It's supposed to be called PC Linux "Linux"

Whatever we've merged is what we could boil down to something agreeable. Everything else is just a mess, as I described in Post #541601. Flash was a platform for Web, but browsers didn't provide all the functionality a standalone Flash player provided, and we abuse that functionality in movies because it's digitally available. But it running in browsers means it's not limited to PC either, it's mobile as well. Also same thing as with DOS, it'd be impossible to filter if we merge it. With Windows/Linux filtering is completely moot at this point, and it's the only case where it's obviously so.

Oh, I didn't know somebody was editing the page recently. Like, in 2023 by adelikat last time. Please, revert it!

Another thing to mention is, PC is supposed to retain DOOM's framerate of "NTSC 35.0029869215506". It's set to 60 fps and the submission timing is wrong, but I change the platform for the sake of the framerate, I can't switch back

Thanks for sharing that bug, Dimon. I reported it on the site code GitHub. It was a good Idea to submit a Doom run to add 35.0029869215506 FPS to the PC table so we could catalog all the other DOOM runs with it. It's too bad it didn't work this time, since the site assumed 60 for it instead.

Added 35.0029869215506 to PC and used it for some PWADs. Also renamed (most?) PWADs to mention base IWAD. And created a group for IWADs.

Oh, thanks feos, that was fast. I asked above, but I'll try to be clearer this time:
  1. What are the plans/timetable for moving the other unique framerate pubs/subs to the PC platform, per YT quota?
  2. Also, if Celeste platform is now parsed as PC, should that platform code be removed, like Masterjun mentioned should happen for DOOM and Linux eventually? (Editors can't do this, but I thought I'd ask so nothing gets assigned there in the meantime.)

#10363: eien86's PC Grand Theft Auto 2 "Industrial, all missions" in 52:13.099 Framerate 1000. Shouldn't it be "Force FPS Numenator" divided by "Force FPS Denomenator"?

I already linked you this earlier:

feos' post under that explains that all DOSBox-x bk2s now use the 1000 ClockRate, then use CycleCount instead of frame count to determine movie time. It's still the same timing as before, or as it appears in BizHawk's Play Movie dialog, just done in a way that all future bk2s can easily have platform changed without worrying about the framerate the TAS used.
