When I'm submitting a Windows run it would always tell it's a DOS game. It would be nice if I could set it manually somewhere.
Or is this possible and I'm just missing it?

Yes, edit the Header file inside bk2 (which is just a zip).

Dang forgot about this bit. No way then until it gets cataloged as a Windows movie, we need to remember to do that for those, seems the only way.

The problem with users cataloging later is the System Framerate, a precise value generated from a bk2's CycleCount, is added to a table for DOS on submission. (For example, MUGG's Max is NTSC 69.95554243439905.) When the Platform field is changed to Windows, the Framerate is automatically cleared, and there's no exact match for it in the Windows table; choosing any other value would throw off the calculated movie time so it can't be changed in good faith. I just reported this bug..
My other idea was using the first line of a bk2's Comments.txt, which seems to be parsed as Annotations, to add Platform: Windows before submitting, like how an LTM's Annotations work to parse as Flash. But this also fails, as you can see Platform: Windows in my Annotations there. So there's currently no way to be either proactive or reactive with this for regular users or editors. A judge or admin may have to be the one editing half of these DOS runs into Windows.
Highlighting that this has been solved https://github.com/TASVideos/tasvideos/pull/2291
Now 1000 (that is the artificial "cycle rate" for dosbox core used to provide final movie time) is the framerate that we'll be using for this core and potentially other things relying on variable framerate, and frame count will be recalculated based on this framerate in order to show accurate final time. That will make it easy to change platforms, since instead of insane amounts of non-existent framerates, there will be the few real ones and then also just 1000.

Thanks feos for the highlight, and Masterjun for committing the fix. This is a big help to have this working; I just cataloged #10363: eien86 & Molotok's PC Grand Theft Auto 2 "Industrial, all missions" in 52:13.099 and it was an easy transition to the right platform (Windows).
It would be ideal if the change applied retroactively to the Windows runs on the Workbench too. I know a judge could fix each of those and there won't be any more now that it's fixed, but I don't know if the "non-existent framerates" feos mentioned will ever be cleared from the database now.
Non-existent framerates will be cleared with a new PR.

In games page, I think it will be very useful to add 2 columns that show the submissions and publications count.
It will be very helpful to filter out which games have yet to be TASed so one can pick up a game as a project.
Thanks in advance :)
For some reason the framecount and time is wrong when I upload my bk2.
This is supposed to be a 30423 frame movie in Bizhawk's DOSBOX-x core, but it shows up on the site as 14 frames.
Perhaps a bug introduced with the new Bizhawk 2.11.1? Wait, I'm sure I made this in Bizhawk 2.11 only.

Movie duration for dosbox is written into the header in milliseconds at whatever frame you're at when exporting it. You were probably not at the end.

When I give a rating to a movie that has no other ratings yet, I get an error message on my browser, but the rating will still be successfully registered by the site. I got this behavior on both Firefox and Brave.

There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.
The movie tags that are 2 words or more all appear to have broken links when selected from 'Movies by genre' tab of the 'movies' page. 'Unreleased games', 'unlicesnsed game', 'unofficial port', 'custom level set'. It looks like the hyper link is dropping the space, even though it is there in the page code.
Additionally 'oldest movie by platform' doesn't work even though the link is only one word.
When you receive HTTP 400 while logging in, you see your password explicitly. It should be either hidden, or hashed.
If you're worried about site security, that's not a problem. We use the standard ASP.NET Core Identity to do everything concerning accounts, so we follow modern password standards.
You're sending the password in plaintext to the server, we send everything back to you if an error occurs, so that you have the ability to recover the data before everything is gone. That's the reason you see your password.
Why is this fine security-wise? Because of https! Everything is always encrypted.
In terms of user-friendliness, it's correct that unexpectedly displaying any sensitive data is not ideal. Maybe all recovered data could be collapsed by default, and only displayed on demand.
But overall, the only plausible problem I see with this is when you're actively live streaming your browser. But you probably shouldn't have your browser window visible while trying to log in or enter sensitive data anyway.
This was also previously discussed.
Warning: Might glitch to creditsI will finish this ACE soon as possible
(or will I?)
would it be possible if the TASer wants to for the movie publish main encode being the one in his own channel? this might give more appeal for TASers who didn't submit for lack of redirection for their own youtube channel and could remove the need for site encodes
example: current darkman submission for killer instinct gameboy has a great encode and he could theoretically request his encode to be the main one the site directs to, the tas encode still can exist normally but could even speed up publish process if not needed a site encode
it's only an example, i don't think darkman wants that specifically
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto.
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Site archive encodes are not going away. However, the option for submitters to opt for the publication encode to be their own is planned.
That said, submitters are already allowed to request that their encode be the one used on the publication. There just isn't anything explicitly in the submission form to indicate that yet.

One of the big reasons to have a site encode nowadays is simply having the encode be on TASVideosChannel.
The status quo is you can have a publication YT encode be on your channel, although this isn't explicitly written out anywhere, and it's planned to be more explicit. However, I will note TASers adverse to TVC having the encode is sometimes (not always) rather due to them having a few misperceptions about a TVC encode:
1. Despite possibly seeing ads on TVC encodes, TASVideos does not collect any ad revenue. These ads are something forced on by YouTube, which we can't disable anymore (this has been the case for years). TASVideos does not financially benefit from an encode being on TVC.
2. Linking an encode on a TASVideos publication does not give any significant amount of views. A TVC encode gets views due to the YT algorithm favoring the channel, putting it in people's YouTube recommended and front page. To put it to scale, generally speaking, the amount of views coming from TASVideos's publication link is 3 digits at best, and most of the time it's just 2 digits (or only barely above 100). Generally a TVC encode will get 4 or 5 digit views at least, meaning views coming directly from TASVideos's publication link is often less than a percent.
For TASers whose goal is to have the encode be seen as many people as possible, regardless of the channel, a TVC encode generally is the best way to accomplish such. However, some TASers rather want the views to come to their channel, or in very rare cases, they have a YT channel (probably a community channel itself) which is better suited than TVC anyways. Due to 2, this is rather possibly best accomplished using the new YT Collaborator feature, which we've been experimenting with a few publications (although I don't recall how well that actually has resulted in terms of viewership). This is more a future future plan however, so it should be noted that without this, you still have 2 being the reality.

I accessed the website for mobile browsers on iOS. I tested on Chrome and Firefox on both iPhone and iPad, where accessing this site (tasvideos.org) leads to a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable error. When I clicked on the button "Copyright 2026 - TASVideos v2.6-[commit #]", it sometimes showed "Too many requests" on GitHub. If this home page loads after several refreshes, it results in the web UI not loading correctly, showing a partial or full web interface, and some images being replaced with a question mark because images are files also affected by the 503 error.
WIP runs:
SOS (SNES game; best ending)
Kirby Mass Attack (any% and 100%)
Grand Poo World 3 (all exits hard mode)
Proposed:
Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD: regular, camera freeze)
Mario Kart DS (all cups, all missions)
