OSNAP DOUBLE POST :O lipucd, I saw your "mega alpha" run, and I have a few questions to ask: #1. Why didn't you just jump off the first falling platform and venture on forth? Surely that one big EXP crystal couldn't be that important. #2. Conversely, wouldn't it be more beneficial to off a few more of those goblins and snag the crystals they leave behind? It may not be much, but eh. #3. Would the F, F + attack... attack... be quicker in hitting the orc, or would the start-up animation just kill the point of it? That's it from me. Hope you continue with this run.

That amused me greatly. And I now know what it's like to be on acid without having actually done it. And yes, someone needs to upload this to YouTube. Now.

I take it these are pretty much the same instructions as having a random avatar (minus selecting things), or is that something else entirely? Not planning to use it here either way, but just curious.

I believe someone made note that there is an alternate ending to 1-3 that you get when you play through the game again.
That's what I gathered from the screenshots and butchered translation that I saw on one Japanese site.

I'd say go for hardest difficulty, but I'm a raving nutter around these parts. I'd also be very interested in seeing this TAS being me. While I'm far from knowledgable in TAS-making, I do know some deal about the game, so I'll try to help you in any way I can. Watch that not be much at all. ;>_>

I think the only real major problem with a TAS for this game, is there are RANDOM battles, instead of enemies you can see on the screen and avoid.
I don't see how that's a major problem. I'd imagine that you'd just wait a frame or three to bypass them like you do with other RPGs that were published here, unless the mechanics for that somehow work far differently than in other RPGs. I'd say that battles might be more of a problem, if the mechanics for dodging and smashing don't work like in other RPGs (frame timing) or in Mother 2.

The problem is that I'm happy sometimes... and still people think I'm sad or something like that...
Sounds about the same with me, sans feeling depressed and all that. I'm usually stoic, and everyone seems to immediately think that I'm sad or depressed, or bitter and angry about something. Then when I tell them that it's just my facial expression and that it doesn't represent how I feel, they're all "But that's not how it should be! ;__;" Which reminds me, I need to learn how to crush people with steamrollers. Another flaw! I'm too nice to most relatives and acquaintances. At least I'm working on that.

With all the hack talk recently, might as well bump this so that it can get some attention. Granted, I imagine that this "second quest" topic would just fade into relative obscurity again, but hey.

Misconceptions and/or idiocy. More of the latter than the former in most cases. Edit: Watched the first world last night. Nice runthrough, and extremely impressive hack, but doesn't really seem like a hack that I'd be willing to play. I would comment about how difficult it looks, but I apparently enjoy playing through SMB2J now, so I dunno if my opinion would mean anything. That, and I haven't played it, and probably won't bother to do so until I get a gamepad for this blasted thing.

The level 0 glitch sets your level 0 (duh :p) and causes you to do insane damage, but I'm not sure what happens when you get hit. I heard about level 0 glitch, and I tried to reproduce it, but I failed. But on second thought the glitch would take quite some entertaining elements away from the run like the near death boss fights and IP managment.
It sounds interesting enough for an alternate TAS (much like the various glitched The Legend of Zelda runs), but seeing as it changes a major element of the game, there would more than likely be two published runs, instead of one replacing the other.

It does, but it takes about four or five ticks for them receive a unit or so of damage.

Prime ones: I procrastinate, I make several plans and intentions without following through, and I don't live up to my supposedly immense potential. Most everything else I consider either neutral or good qualities about myself. That includes the cynicism and asociality.

I think Rockman&Forte came out before Mega Man 7.

Further proof! MM7s release date: September, 1995 R&Fs release date: April 24th, 1998 Also, Rock has basically the same sprite as he did in MM8. If that's not proof enough, I dunno what is. *pewf!*

Q*BERT I know that chances are it's not going to be TASed; I just felt the need to mention it anyway.

Haha. Yeah, seems that Sega has the annoying tendency to want to hold your hand throughout the entire game now. At least with Omachao you could opt to blow him up and have him whine at you — or if that failed, pick him up and throw him off a cliff. :D But I disgress. Back to the horrendousness that his Sonic Genesis!

Wow. I don't know what's more amazing: your dedication, or the fact that I actually read through all of that and found it interesting. Seems that I was right when I said that I didn't have the patience to be a TASer. Anyway, good luck in conquering the Caterpie From Hell. Here's hoping it doesn't impede your progress for too much longer.

Say what you will about Heroes' ratings, it still sucked. I actually played that one — not exactly a full night's rental, but more than enough to wash away all the high hopes I had about the game. Shadow the Hedgehog also got best seller status. What does that tell you about it?

I'm not sure I understand why anyone would want to play (or TAS) a bad hack of a bad conversion of what was once an okay game.
Because these are Sonic fans we're talking about. Anything Sega does is the One Truth, and any deviations from is are regarded as heresy. Except when Sega does it, then it becomes the new truth and these people retcon everything that deviates from it accordingly.
Are you referring to all Sonic fans, or just the ones that fap to every new Sonic title just because the Blue Blur is in yet another game with (decreasingly) horrible physics and level design bad enough to make whiny emo kids everywhere slit their wrists? I'm a Sonic fan as well, but I don't take in everything that Sega craps out and treasures it like it's gold. Some of us actually want good games, not the half-assed pieces of shit that we've been getting since 2004. (And this is excluding Advance 1 & 3, mind you.) Hell, if I could, I would burn every copy that of Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog — the latter not because I've played, but the plot alone is horrendous enough to warrant it. Oh, and because of "All Hail Shadow".

Of course Sonic Team is lazy. Why do you think Sonic 3 got split into two games? :V

Huh. No blippin' wonder. So I take it that Kirby's Adventure is the only one where he doesn't use moves that you can turn into stars, or am I wrong there too?
