K, nice wip. But you can do double jumps against walls, so you didn't need to climb the ledge for the first skateboard piece 20 secs in.
Oh, I didn't know this.
Plus when skitching, grinding etc I'd like to see perfect balance please, otherwise it's harder to get drawn into the TAS nature of the run.
When skitching, I already tried to get good balance but I couldn't get it any better without using savestates (which means a higher chance of desyncs). When grinding, depending on how you jump on a rail/ledge the balance may already be quite off, so there's not much I can do. I'll need to redo everything later anyway.

WIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG-p0nFQg3g I gave up because there are way too many desyncs for me to handle. I can't bother redoing the same combo or mission dozens of times... Maybe this problem was already fixed by a savestate leak fix recently, but I'm not going to try this game for a bit. Just consider the video above as a little preview.

I would be very interested to see a run using this glitch, but I think a run using that glitch should obsolete previously published runs. If some people fear a new run will take away entertainment, then what about Mario Land 2? The any% 21 minute TAS which I considered the most entertaining gameboy TAS on the site was obsoleted by the glitched 2 minute TAS which even had the wrong and monotone BGM in the credits. Either we are strict with obsoleting previous runs or we revert those past decisions, I'm fine either way but please don't make exceptions (such as introducing a seperate glitch category for SMW).

Wasn't ISM already working on a 96 exits run?

I was TASing for a bit (on r7251 and on sick difficulty). I chose not to use memory cards since it didn't really have any bad side-effects and I didn't want to have to worry so much about copying memory cards and so on. It seems this game can randomly desync every now and then, similar to what I heard of Mupen back in the day so I need to check the movie every once in a while. After some redoing and realizing that I chose a slower second goal, I just have one goal finished but the progress will get better from this point (I hope). @ ripz3: About this Set-Restart glitch, I still have to check it out sometime. I don't think such a trick will save time in New Jersey anyway. Also, keep in mind this is the gamecube version (I'm not sure if there are version differences between PC, PS2 and GC). Getting stuck in midair sounds cool, but for comboing I can just start a manual or do other fancy stuff. Getting points will be very easy...

I'm interested in running this game (at least the first few missions). I guess I would use sick difficulty. Any advice, hints, tricks?

The US version is usually prefered at TASvideos. You should only use the Japanese or European version if there are glitches or shortcuts that only work on those versions and not on the US version. This is not the case with WarioWare. If you plan to make a run of another game, please remember to post about it on the forum (but search for existing topics first). That way people may be able to help you. Also, see the list of ideas.

Why did you use the Japanese version? I made a run a while back but it wasn't very impressive even though I tried everything to make it an interesting watch. Regardless of the game choice, you should ask for advice on the forums before and while making a TAS. And you shouldn't aim to complete a run in only 1 or 2 hours... Many runs on this site took months or even years to make due to the effort required. Maybe you don't want to invest so much time into making a tool-assisted movie, but you should try to do your best.

Nice work! Oh, since we are talking about skips and sequence breaks now.. There was a Youtube video where Mario entered a wall just a room or two after the room that your .png shows. I couldn't find the video so I guess it was removed. That person was messing around with a bush or fence or something to make it work... It is probably useless but I'm still interested in it.

I'm also very interested in Pikmin 1. Everyone says it is very unlikely to beat the game in less than 9 days, but with a tightly optimized TAS it might be barely possible. I'm not planning to make any TASes for now, though. Good luck to anyone who tries it!

This is a 1-player movie on snes9x 1.51 v6 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/575083967/earthbound_tas2.smv I'd like to add the second controller port, but apparently it will mean changing the whole file structure. Any help will be appreciated.

Chapter 5 [20''203] [Very hard] (mugg1991) Unlike my previous videos, I can use savestates now. I tried TASing chapter 2 with a lot of shift boosting (repeated getting off and on the course again), but in the end I couldn't get my speed beyond 2500 km/h again so I gave up for now. Maybe I will try chapter 3 or another chapter, but I won't make many TASes for this game... it's just very hard >.>

cheat codes are acceptable (...) if it arguably isn't a cheat because the player is expected to use it because it is in the manual
In my Daffy Duck run I didn't use ingame codes that would refill your health or fuel (?) or change your weapons because after entering the "glitch world" you are given a ton of points that you need to enter those codes and it makes the game much easier (usually you get said points by killing enemies). So I decided to not use those codes so it is more impressive - However, maybe changing weapons could make the run more fun to watch...

Maybe he was just asking us if he should be focusing on TASing or normal speedrunning...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=088zBw18t4g This still happens in r7128. I don't know if there was a fix recently, but it should be fixed before starting a TAS...

The floor glitch has been known for a while now. It only works in the PAL version and is useless for the most part. We can use the flagpole glitch with Mario walking against the flagpole block on the PAL version, so there's no use to do the floor bug for flagpole glitching. If it can be used in the warp room in 4-2, it would save some time, but it's probably not possible.

It is a hotkey that pauses the game and advances 1 frame (0.016 seconds at 60 FPS) each time you press it. You can hold button keys and then press frame advance in order to press certain buttons for a specific frame. You can unpause the game again using the "pause" hotkey. http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/4396/vba2.png http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/355/vba3.png

Without using continues or deahts, according to my testings you can complete the game with 10,550 points. You said your movie gets 19,110...

I haven't tried the latest svn build. Actually, for now I'm not in a hurry for TASing more GBx games since I can finally TAS gamecube games on Dolphin (which wasn't possible for years). Please take your time and make a proper v24. :)

Mario Party 5 Minigames Will Flower (5''41) (mugg) Leaf Leap (180 Yards) (mugg) I thought about making a story mode TAS. However, it requires a lot of luck manipulation and with the few current savestate crashes I'm getting it's not really feasible. Also Dolphin crashes after beating Bowser...

Warp to ??? (useless) Warp to Belch's Factory Glitch rain + sped up BGM Warp to Winters Trigger for the Boogie Tent battle Paula kidnapping in Fourside All of the above movie demonstrations were found with the help of a certain glitched text box.

You can end up with the aforementioned glitched box if you press "left+right" as/after this text scrolls/scrolled. On this text box, you get different results every frame and depending on if you press one of the following combinations: left+up+L left+right+L up+L L+B left+up+R+L etc. After countless hours of testing, I learned more about the pattern and it seems to always loop through the same bits of memory (you get the same text and effects over and over again if you wait long enough). I couldn't manage to reach any useful stuff aside from what I've already found with this text box. Even if I save and reset the game right before going to the glitch spot, the results are mostly the same (though the results may change as one progresses through the game or takes certain measurements such as buying and selling stuff, fighting enemies, etc. but the latter has little effect). I'd like to investigate the lower movies more, but other than all that I wish to stop spending more hours on this... Teleport Phone call

Threed tent cutscene Warp to Twoson Photo cutscene Tunnel ghost... I got the game to read much of Twoson's, Threed's, Summers', Happy Happy Village's and Fourside's text and Pokey's taunting text before the final battle. I keep trying... testing takes many, many hours.
