Instead of editing my previous post, I thought it has become a bit of a mess so I'm making a new post. I checked 0.3-2383-a6ff9f6 (branch: master). This build is from 2015-08-04, instead of 2015-08-05, so I don't know if all your changes have gone live. The savestate text while the game is paused is fixed. The cursor hiding and other focus issues (such as in the image I linked previously) are not fixed. Btw, as for Mario & Luigi Peach speech glitch, I might make a comparison video between mgba and gameboy player.

Is it simply that that trick doesn't work with this game?
It does work but it can't be done everywhere because the setup takes too long or for other reasons. I looked at the first two rooms and it seems it was done the best possible way.

I really prefer the panic aspect of the competition. I can then expect everyone is working at the same time and trying to finish in time. The IRC was active with messages like "what framecount is everyone at" or "I'm at the Get him Boys dialogue". I liked that. I was afraid that I over-optimized my run and was falling behind. I just kept going and going, and as said, I liked that panic aspect. But I can see inexperienced players falling behind easily or being too late to submit their run... Why is Bisqwit's name struck through?

Does it sync on any official BizHawk release?
I have tested and it works on the latest version 1.11.1.

(try setting audio buffer samples as low as you can without audio glitching)
I have set it to 512 (the lowest) and I have tried muting the audio in the settings but it seems the issue is still present. I have not tried changing other settings. You wrote about Qt, but the display driver I used was "OpenGL" and not "Software(Qt)".
E] Fixed the cursor and (probably) the focus issues, will be in the 2015-08-05 build in a few hours. Let me know!
I will check it and edit this post. --- More 0.3-2378-7fb1b90 (branch: master) 2015-08-02 feedback: - When muting or unmuting the audio opening the settings and closing them without even changing them, the FPS is suddenly in the hundreds and needs to be manually set to 60 again. - Targeting a certain FPS (such as 60) doesn't seem to work when neither sync to audio nor sync to video is enabled.

I've never used it myself, but there is a place for the SGB BIOS in the firmware section of BizHawk, so I'd assume it does?
Then there may be another reason... Was0x said the SGB mode didn't work well for him when he worked on KDL2 in Bizhawk. I can't seem to find any explanation from Scepheo himself in our PMs and IRC chats.

readword does not work in bizhawk. It has a different name. Refer to this page http://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/LuaFunctions.html

I have a problem with motivation myself. I just do whatever I feel like doing. But with that said, TASing and speedrunning should be an enjoyment, not a chore. I have unfinished WIPs all over the place. Kirby squeak squad 100% TAS? No work on that done since 2013? Trip World TAS? Left that 2 months ago because Idk. My Might & Magic 8 speedrun attempts? I suddenly lost the fun doing that so I'm not doing it. People are waiting for me to work on the next Mario & Luigi TAS but I can see all the route planning, leveling and glitch execution testing involved with it that I don't want to think about it..

There might be no new episode until after EQG3 (which is set to air on September 26th). The season was split up and it was already said they would air the second half at the end of the year.

- While mgba seems console-accurate so far on the US version of the game when doing the Sign glitch and Action command glitch, I can't reproduce step 8 of the sign glitch on the JP version... It doesn't seem to matter if I press R 15+1 / 15 / 1+2 / 2+1 times, I would never get the "Emerge" command on Mario. Instead, it takes 10+1 / 11 R presses on mgba. I don't know if this is a problem with mgba or with my documentation of the sign glitch. Might need looking into. I could check on the Japanese game on gameboy player if I'm not lazy, but maybe altabiscuit can help me out and do it for me *wink*. - Peach Speech glitch was tested on mgba. Let me quickly break it down: on english, console: freezes "pretty much always with nothing going on" according to my old post on english, mgba: seems to freeze always with nothing going on. on japanese, console: freezes with the battle cinematic leading to a yellow screen, according to my old post on japanese, mgba: seems to freeze always with nothing going on. This is looking to be a strong inaccuracy (since the battle cinematic was expected but nothing happened instead). on english and japanese, vba: Glitch events, glitch text boxes, glitch cutscenes, fancy stuff, Credits Glitch etc. This stuff seems dead now because they don't happen on console nor on mgba.

I have this feedback after using 0.3-2378-7fb1b90 (branch: master), most of which is just minor details/personal usability nitpicks: - I would like the default window size to be smaller (2x) - I noticed the mouse cursor sometimes disappears when clicking on mgba and its menu. I wish that the mouse cursor is always visible unless you go fullscreen. I can see that the intention was for the cursor to hide after 1 second but it sometimes doesn't work as intended: -- When clicking on one main menu and then hovering onto another, the cursor disappears. -- When no game is loaded, the cursor disappears as soon as you hover on the logo. - The gamepad config ("Remap keyboard...") graphic doesn't tell what is A, B, Start and Select so it is a guessing game what you're configuring. - I would prefer if the "About" menu option was in its own menu "Help". - When the game is paused and mgba isn't in focus, and then comes into focus again, the current frame isn't displayed. http://i.imgur.com/JCFFazf.png Also: -- When quicksaving a savestate while the game is paused, it will not show the "State saved" text. - I can't set Ctrl as my fast-forward hotkey. - There are 1~3 delay frames in mgba compared to VBA. (I tested by enabling background input in VBA and walking through the same room on both emulators at the same time, but I have already noticed it before testing.) This affects gameplay experience; emulator speedrunners will not be able to play to the best of their ability. - I would like it if there was a quickstate hotkey 10. Right now there is 1~9, but if it went from 1~10 I could use the 10th hotkey on the number 0 on my keyboard. If you know what I mean. Otherwise, looking pretty good. EDIT: - The window size preference and the gamepad config ("Remap keyboard...") preference isn't saved when exiting mgba. I have to set those everytime I open mgba.

I think the only hard one in there would be In-Game time, the rest we can script
How come? The game keeps track of ingame time, so it should be possible to retrieve it when address 002c turns 01 or whenever, shouldn't it?

As far as I remember, desmume's "reset" from the menu is a hard reset. There is no soft reset unless the game supports a button combination to reset itself. I don't like hard resets because all intro screens (such as the DS' intro and menu screens) are skipped on emulator whereas you have to go through them on the real console. The time taken to go through those things would be added to a console speedrun's time but not to the TAS time, which feels wrong.

I'm just saying you have to spray at the blue sky at some point. The water would drop to somewhere where there's a rocket. But it's so precise, I only got it once and when I retried for it I didn't manage to do it anymore.

I wanted to mention that on Pinna it is possible to get rocket #3 faster by 2 seconds, according to this video's description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az2pfPQO0LM I could never redo it but I know it's possible. Just saying for zelpiku or whoever. You have to spray into the sky or something, and you will mysteriously get a rocket, if successful.

What is with the Punis glitching up? Is that an emulator glitch?
Yes, emulator-only.
Wasn't that glitch fixed in the newer versions of Dolphin?
Malleoz has stated that other things broke in exchange.
