Honestly, I found it kind of dull compared to the Family Feud TAS. Maybe it's due to the slower pace of this game, it's due to the answers not being as interesting or funny imho, or it's just the fact that the game drags on a lot longer than Family Feud. Either way, voting no.

I've been reading this discussion about submitting here. I really don't see the problem. Let me try to get the facts straight here: 1) SoulCal does not want his run on TASVideosChannel, or prominently visible on TASVideosChannel, because dumb YouTubers will misattribute the run to the uploader, or maybe other reasons. 2) Evidently, there are multiple exceptions to the TVC rule because these authors prefer having their run on their own channel. These exceptions can be granted for whatever reason the author wants, including recognition, viewcount, dollars, or anything else they can think of. 3) Thus, SoulCal can easily just state somewhere in the submission that he wants the publication YouTuber to be his own. No issues there, we have been down that road before. So unless I'm missing something, there shouldn't be any problem with submitting?

Where is this 44:44 run you are talking about? All I see on this page are the 13:18 glitched version and the 1:39:59 100% version. And consider that maybe, just maybe, nobody ever brought up the idea of slide spin, and most people there found the run worth publishing.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e34guZUl2VI And yeah, it occasionally happens that movies sometimes have improvements due to new tricks, sometimes even tricks that were already there that the author didn't know about. I know this once happened to one of my own runs, where I didn't find out about a certain trick until the run was already submitted and published.

It doesn't make sense to apply a different timing method to only some movies. If we don't have internal consistency in movie timing, then things will turn confusing very fast. Putting a note with SDA timing in the description is fair enough, I suppose, but still not really necessary for obsoleted movies (by nature of their being obsoleted), and I can't think of any examples on the site that aren't obsoleted. Care to give an example, so that it is clearer to us what you are talking about?

If the Vault tier ought be one mainly collecting speed records for games that can't get to the Moon level, then we may need a fourth tier for those TASes where speed is not the goal (but which don't go to the Moon nor Star tiers either, because of lacking sufficient entertainment.) This tier ought to be conceptually "parallel" to the other tiers, rather than being below or above anything.
I think having four tiers would be way too cluttered and messy. Three tiers are already bad enough. Not to mention, adding a tier to put runs that don't go for speed nor entertainment goes against the point of the Vault tier, which is to keep TASVideos manageable w.r.t. uninteresting, unentertaining or "bad" games. With that fourth tier, we'd get too much clutter with bad, uninteresting runs with semi-arbitrary goals. Generally, the runs that fit neither Vault or Moon (such as this run) are mistakes that shouldn't even have been accepted. (SNES F-Zero is another notorious example with the same issue). And I think it should stay this way - runs that fail at both entertainment and speed should just be rejected.

I suppose that Moons (and even star) could instead be a tag. That way there would be two categories (vault and default), and then the important runs would be tagged, just like how it was in the past. That does seem more simple.
Makes sense. I'd agree with this idea.

Fair enough. I've added Wiki: Tier under the "Site" tab and Wiki: Movie Class Guidelines under the "Movie Watching" tab. I think they make the most sense that way.

Like I said, it would not be a tier. Consider pre-tier TASVideos, which had "Stars" and regular runs. I think we should just make it somewhat similar to that -- having "Stars", regular runs, and "Vault".

Moons is a useful name for a default tier though >_>
I disagree. It gives the movies a certain degree of sounding somewhat special or notable, which is not always warranted. Note that before the tier system was implemented, the Moons were used for exactly that purpose - runs that were somewhat considered 'notable'. The problem with Moons now is that it makes people think that it, as a tier, has special requirements that runs need to fulfill in order to be a "Moon". In reality, this is not the case. (In practice, the only qualification for a Moon is, basically, "Not Vault". This is why I don't consider it a tier at all.)

I'm saying that it doesn't belong in the Vault, since movies in the Vault can only be any% or 100% (fastest time). The only other place the run could be published would be Moons.
Then perhaps that should be fixed. Either expand the meaning of the Vault tier, or create a fourth, distinct tier (which is more like "parallel" to the others, rather than being "below" or "above" anything.) Else the meaning of the Moon tier would get rather diluted, IMO. A kind of dumpster for "everything that doesn't fit anywhere else", which I don't think is the intent of that tier.
I think the meaning of Moons is already quite "diluted". Moons are used for basically everything that isn't Vault and isn't Star material either. This includes both speedrun records that are entertaining, non-speed records that are entertaining, and non-speed records that attempt to be entertaining. This run falls under that third category. Ideally, those wouldn't have been published in the first place, but mistakes happen sometimes. I don't think a fourth tier would be a solution either. The current three-tier system is already confusing enough for some people. I actually don't think Moons should even be considered a tier. In fact, I think Moons should be removed as a tier, and what are now "Moons" should just not have a tier at all. I think things would make more sense this way.

I've taken a look at the run, and it seems that the run's first priority is maximum score, and time is a secondary goal - judging from the fact that, for example, the archery game aims to hit the bullseye every time. The other sports also aim for maximum score, whether it's by being the fastest or just by getting perfect scores for things like diving. That said, I think the run should be moved to Moons. Maximum score is not a vaultable category.

I tried looking for the Wiki: MovieClassGuidelines page and immediately got to it from the first page I could think of, which was Wiki: PublisherGuidelines, which in turn is linked to in the Wiki: Users page. (EDIT: It's also on Wiki: Movies under the "Movies by Category" tab, where the sorting lists by movie classes also are.) Wiki: Tier is admittedly a bit trickier, but I found it linked to in the Wiki: Movies page (in the "Movies by Tier" tab), which I think is one of the first places a visitor would even hear the word "tier". Additionally, I typically found it through the links from the Wiki: Stars, Wiki: Moon or Wiki: Vault, which are linked to on all publications and most movie pages. Do you have any other suggestions where linking to them could be convenient or useful?

2. But if the author is totally convinced that this run in fact aims for fastest time, we can just keep the run in the Vault (not sure why any author would want his/her movie there though) and simply remove the Playaround tag.
This isn't a case of the author being "convinced". This depends on whether it simply is true or not. If I make a playaround and later claim it's for fastest time, that doesn't suddenly not make it a playaround, nor does that make it eligible for "fastest time" when it actually isn't.

Depends on what strategies exactly you are talking about. Currently, my plans were to use Electric Shock for the miniboss, use Rush Coil in the moving platform sections, use Electric Shock again until the next miniboss and the room after that, and then use Break Dash for the last couple of rooms. Might still revise some of that, though. I'm still testing out different weapon strategies.

It's not a bad category idea for a novice TASer to try out in order to practice optimized TASing. Very little chance that it merits publication, though.

Even for speed, you can't just outright copy large amounts of input from other people's work. At least, not without permission from the original author.

I left the game running for 200000 frames after the end of the movie with no input, and it still remains at the first picture. It most definitely needs more input to actually reach the credits. Please update the submission so that the input file reaches the credits properly in accordance with the TASVideos movie rules.

I'm not sure. It depends on what kind of game you are playing, and what kind of run you are making. If you are doing a playaround for, say, a fighting game, then secret characters are usually okay. Otherwise, if it's only for speed, I don't think it's allowed.

Yes, exactly. Black Zero in Mega Man X4 is okay, because it only changes his appearance. X's Ultimate Armor is not okay, because it affects his abilities.
