sorry :/ won't bug you anymore about it...

thanks a lot, currently getting the file. if you don't want to share it on your own tracker, which I totally understand, you do what you want with your resources, maybe would it be possible to upload the torrent on another (public ? bisqwit's ?) tracker ? that would preserve you from having to use yours. if there are others BitComet/BitLord users wanting to get the file, I could do the upload to some other place, so that DeHacked wouldnt be bothered anymore.

any good reason why BitComet should still be banned from your trackers ? problems were solved since v0.59 months ago, unbanned everywhere but here... u_u Weatherton's link is dead for me as well (cannot connect to server) :(

it's not because no one replies, that no one watched it. it's very nicely played, so I'll give it my 2 thumbs up. very impressive, too bad it has been played on a emulator (if I'm not mistaken), it could have been submitted to SDA. keep up the good work Latis ! it's good to see more recent games done quickly ; you're an obvious expert of MS. really enjoyed watching the game being beaten flawlessly.

wait, school might be past from a long time, but there's something fishy there. since when : √4 = 2 ?!?! that's not true, √4 = 2 or -2 ( -2 * -2 = 4 so -2 is a root) one should correct : |√4| = 2 it seems so basic that I'm even not sure...

isnt the next Gens version going to implement the sms/gg emulation ? the author of the rerecording feature (not the author of Gens who doesn't want it) said he will wait this version to re-add the TAS features.

now that BitComet has been fixed in the 0.59 version, you could unban it from your tracker, like Bisqwit did from his... I guess you wanted to ban the previous versions, but isn't there a way to detect and ban only the "bad" versions ? but, it's your tracker, so you do whatever you want with it ^^

swedish translated game for a movie would only be fun for swedish people. adventure games such as shadowgate aren't just pure timeattacks subject, a lot of people enjoy them as a speedrun, that is, to follow the plot and see the game being beaten, and how. having the texts in another language as english kinda spoils this matter. you'd only see very quick menu scrolling between names most people could not understand. would be quickly boring. yes, I'm also speaking for japanese versions of adventure games. and the "you must play the game in english to appreciate the movie" argument just doesn't work. don't forget that most people that watch speedruns/timeattacks also want to spare the time to play them.

several years ago, a special version of the playstation was sold. (forgot its name, was black) it was fully programmable, and some demo/games made appearance on cds offered with magazines. basically, it was a modded, updgradable psx you could plug to your pc and program from there with a professional emulator/debugger. I heard that for the SNES, back in the days, Nintendo would provide the developers the same kind of hardware/software. those professional emulators were a kind of a dream for the early emulation scene back in the 90. nowadays, it's normal to find emulators for everything, but those who knew SNES96 and SNES97 (which would become Snes9x), were dreaming to play console games (for free, let's be realist) on their computers. my theory is, that there were and still are such special "developer" versions of each console. the first rom dumpers basically stole this kind of hardware/software, which were 'industrial secrets'. developers had a contract to not give/sell/speak of them (you could know everything you wanted), but some broke it and started to dump and sell copied games. some of you might have had in hand the famous SNES "diskette" pirate reader. it proved that every console was connectable to computer hardware. to sum up, piracy is the mother of emulation, so a discussion about the origins will undoubtly reach the prohibited subject...

since the community thought about adopting the mkv format so as to use its functionnalities, why not use them here ? I watched the few RPG that were run as TAS, but I felt bored as I couldnt understand what was going on. so, it's a very good idea to let the viewer know, but it has 2 drawbacks : - time wasted in the timeattack - even with the dialogues left, it might be hard for someone who never finished the game before (most people, most of the audience) to follow the plot so, why not use subtitles ? it doesn't have to be very complicated, only from time to time add a line such as : "the king orders the hero to save the princess at Nowhere city" ; "the old woman sells the hero an invincibility potion". focus on : plot, goals ; don't let the viewer ask himself "why did the hero have to come all this way to do something I couldnt even see". it's not just about dialogues, but explaining why the hero has to spend so much time leveling/collecting/harvesting etc. you could even provide the sub file, no need to encode it, it could be an option for curious people (ffdshow can read subtitles) maybe it'd be an interesting debate with the courageous players that do RPG TAS, not just this game of course. (new topic ?) sorry I got a bit carried away =^__^=

I switched to 0.59, and I don't get banned anymore. I'm not sure if it's proved 100% though (might have been banned once gain) .I see other peers having bitcomet, mostly 0.59 I think, and on the tracker of this site... So, is there still a real problem ? If you have earlier versions... I'd recommend upgrading...

New version released. It's not a new file format (still backward compatible with the first release, except for 3 player support). The 3rd player take the place used by XYZ keys of Player 1/2. The file format switch will come with Gens 3 (with 8 player support)
Ouzo, you cannot use more than 3 buttons when using 3 players mode, since that's (X,Y,Z) where the third player commands are stocked. you'll have to wait for the next "official" version. Jyzero, I guess that we'll have to wait for that version to have the SMS support and that you'll implement the rerecord feature ? or is it already based on the gens/gir format ? I'm a bit lost with those versions... http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2363 sorry, I might be biaised since I think SMS support would be much more interesting than 3 player support :)

actually, there are now several mk topics, so some things get repeated... personnaly, I don't see much interest in a tas of a fighting game. we all agree that time can't be the goal for such games, because you'd just have to pull out very repetitive perfect rounds. as for play around or aesthetics, there are already many non-tool assisted sites and movies. I already posted one in that topic : http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2273 (direct link : http://nki.combovideos.com/ ) the usual rule of this site is that, you don't submit a (tool assisted) movie that's sloppier than one done without tools. those a numerous and already close to perfection, so even without watching this submission, I'll say that it's pointless. try to do better than NKI's movies. good luck.

simple solution (windows) : 1/ get the direct show ogg filter (it's just for audio) at http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm 2/ install it (uh ?) 3/ play with windows media player, media player classic. you can even rename it to .avi, if you want. tested and working. I didnt test it with other players, but it should work with any (since wmp is the crappiest and it works with it). I second the remark that zapping at some other point in the movie has a longer delay than usual. I don't know if it's related to the filter I use.

I added that the pack isn't just a codec. it includes a mux/demux (vorbis splitter) since ogg can be multi track. just click on th link to have details of what's inside the file. ok, I may have used the wrong vocabulary. for me, "codec" is just the file you get and you install to be able to read movies/audio encoded with it. actually, it's a pack. for you, "codec" is the specific file within the pack, that just codes/decodes audio. either way, just install it, and it will work with any player. tested on windows media player and media player classic.

the problem has nothing to do with the player. only difference with the usual avi is sound. as explained by Bisqwit, it's no longer mp3 but ogg. it's not included within ffdshow (as far as I know). the Direct Show Ogg Vorbis Filter will do the trick (it's more than just a mere audio codec, I guess, the must some kind of mutiple audio track splitter, that kind of thing), or any pack including the ogg codec. http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm (yeah I know it's outdated but it works) check links on vorbis (.com) site.

I hope that .ogm is usable with media player classic... are the problems of the tracker related with the problem I have : - "tracker response ok" - "tracker returned 0 peers" with BitComet 0.56 ? can't download anymore... every torrent gets me 0 seed/client :( (though the tracker "announce" page is accessible and shows normal info)

the "world champion" seen on this page, packattack, is the author of many very impressive videos. check sdkess's site ( http://www.vortiginous.com/ ), who has created a smb community. he's also a member of this forum... or was. //edit I knew I found it here : http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2181

even if it's only one button, 2 states, that's stil 2^36000. we can't get rid of this number of frames. windows calc says it's about 1,2 x 10^10837, which is still too much possibilities (number of atoms in the universe is "only" 10^120...) so pruning wouldn't be on the buttons combinations (at that scale, 2 and 4096 are very close numbers, yeah I know it sounds stupid). we'd rather kill dead branches such as, forbid to go back in a already examinated state. brute force won't work, as many situations loop : go forward one frame, go backward one frame ; or go forward 2 frames, then go backwards 2 frames. some games are playable with the "always go right" technique (beat'em up...) chess games don't calculate every possible situation, only those very few many that make sense... and obey simple rules such as : no "loop". sorry, might be a lot of mistakes in what I say, AI isn't a subject I know well. but I'm quite sure that the number of possibilities is a killer. you don't want to eval x^36000 possibilities, whatever x >= 2 is.
