I'm dumping avi fine with 2.2.1. Try removing your config?

Hey look what we have here! https://github.com/TASVideos/hourglass-win32/releases/tag/r83 What is this? It's a freaking official Hourglass release! I just verified this submission on it, the game didn't crash. And it saved the internal replay afterwards. Moreover, I made a full AVI lossless dump with it, and I'll be sending it to fsvgm777 for encoding. kopiapoa, I know you guys like Hourglass in Japan. Please use this new version instead of local hacks. Overall, it must work identically to what you used, just this time it has proper version number, and it puts it into movies.

It's the default character. Average in all areas (or balanced if you prefer that descriptor).

Development builds don't count as such (unless it's a messy case like Dolphin). Any settings necessary for sync should be documented in the submission properly (edit the submission to include this information if necessary). The settings chosen must be considered legal, and not used to hack the game in some way. If the submission does not sync on at least one official release, it must be rejected (unless there is an unavoidable exception). If it syncs for someone other than the author, it is still valid (so that games/emulators that require similar OS/computer specs to be deterministic have a chance).

Make sure to only port if you have improvements. I saw in one of your boss fights you're faster due to a new trick, just mentioning it anyway.

I believe the hourglass version used here is not r81 (since r81 has its version written in the dialog caption). In r81 I get a crash in the end even if I use the first input option (Safe), which is what the author uses in the video. In r51 it just desyncs. kopiapoa, what hourglass version are you actually using?

Just pointing out that for some people using tastudio right away is an easier way to familiarize themselves with serious tasing. Some basic usage example: https://youtu.be/wJu_DHnJbJA?t=290 For a detailed manual of a similar tool (taseditor in fceux, which has almost identical controls and features), read this: http://www.fceux.com/web/help/taseditor/

If it syncs on a fixed version, I think it should be encoded on that.

Wikipedia says this standard can use 10 (and even 12) bit 4:4:4 video. I wonder if youtube is capable. As for segment limit, for me it wasn't strictly 50 with avisynth either. Something like 75 as well. But GScript rocks!!! Hmmmmm... https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7126552 https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/youtube-now-officially-supports-up-to-10-bit-hdr-8k-60fps.2491332/

It doesn't crash in the beginning for me, but it always crashes in the end. The only thing that prevents the crash is disabling multithreading in the middle of the run. But that prevents the name entry screen from appearing, I get endless loading.

Not too long ago I heard that the Moon is made of grated cheese. I am not as into astrology as most people but is the Moon made of grated cheese? They also say there's also someone's face drawn on the Moon. Who's portrait that could be, do you guys know?

You can't transform the savestate, it's completely different. You need to make a movie that reaches the same point your savestate is on, make a new savestate there, and put it into your movie. The file is called Core.bin. Otherwise, starting a movie from a savestate is usually a bad idea, especially if you want to submit it here. Even even if your fix works, there's no guarantee that the movie will sync on the new version.

If savestate format changes over versions, you won't be able to get it to work on them. The only thing you can do is regenerate that savestate on a new version and substitute it in tour movie.

Are you trying to open tastudio projects instead of simple movies? If so, open them with 7zip and remove Greenzone. Or simply export to bk2 and it should work in newer versions.

1. After being presented factual reasons behind starring Jetpack, he ignores them and keeps pedaling the idea he made up. 2. The star tier operates the way it does because staff designed rules for it that were making sense 1) for staff members and 2) for the audience. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12998 3. 5% number, as well as some other contents of that page, are not used in reality, they were put there to get things rolling, to help getting the general idea. When I started revising the old star list, both adelikat and Nach participated, sharing thoughts, ideas and cautions. So it started off as a collective effort. As it went along, people started giving suggestions as well. Each suggestion was checked against the main requirements. You should not expect all stars to meet all requirements, because it is unrealistic. I'm saying that based on all the years spent working on this tier. But it never means no checks happen. And it never means there are stars with only one requirement met. But there are stars that people can get insane about, both camps: those who want them to be starred and those who don't. Factual star rules (and my personal mindset) always account for such possibilities. Everyone will never be equally happy. But like I said, my job is to ensure that the worst corners are cut. 4. Logical failures are not helping. Calling 10% of moons an arbitrary number and stating that the only possible non-abritrary number is 100 is absurd. Refusing to notice that is ignorance. Ignorance is worse than honest mistakes, because one actually knows the truth, he just dislikes it. There can be no discussion whenever someone decides to ignore logic.

Back when FinalFighter came up with the trick (which is, let's admit, revolutionary), no one was sure it's even supposed to work. He made a ROM hack what recreates the conditions that need to be met, and it was verified on a powerpak. Debugging it was tricky, but in the end it was concluded that it's possible to make it work. But no one suspected that the very concept won't work on console. I don't think that's what you're saying tho. If the conditions are different, improving them and improving the run might fix the verification. If conditions used in that run are outright impossible, then it's pretty sad. Start from this post: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=223361#223361 Another point. Inaccuracy itself doesn't spoil the joy of tasing. We want to optimize games, we do it. If they are inaccurately ran, well, we optimize romhacks, fine. But accuracy is still required by movie rules for a reason. Possibility of console verification was still a basis since the beginning. So while TASing on accurate emulators doesn't kill the joy from tasing, using inaccurate emulators for that might kill the joy of some people involved, since there's quite a lot of spheres that overlap here: TASing, video encoding, emulator coding, software tool development, hardware tool development, even presence at events like GDQ. The more spheres are involved, the more importance accuracy gets. I want to say that even before the first SMW game end glitch was verified, seeing that was my dream. And an even crasier dream was showing that on console before thousands of people at AGDQ. It happened! It became the highlight of the event for years! Standing ovations after Pokemon Plays Twitch, man, isn't that one of the nicest things TASing ever caused? Well, after dethroning Todd Rogers of course.

The verification movie can't end properly because the game crashes at frame 116817 (out of 117134). But the Extra mode still gets unlocked. And audio gets dumped. And BG is there. It just doesn't sync :D Oh, and hourglass complains about the version the movie was recorded with. I run it with r81, it says unknown version, and in the author's video HG doesn't have a version in the dialog name. And the game files I have don't match the author's hashes. But the hash of th15.exe is the same as in the author's video (I applied the 1.00b patch). Lots of fun. EDIT: Switched hourglass to english locale. Started syncing, sound died. LOL. EDIT: And the game crashes right before movie end as well. Frame 100241. If everything else works, we need an extended movie so we could try providing encodes from it without crashing in the middle. kopiapoa, please post an extended movie, including all the material that should go into the final encode, and even then it should have some extra input in case it crashes earlier than expected. The movie must be identical to the one you submitted until the frame where it ends, just record from there. Meanwhile, we found out that the dump still gets the audio even if the game is silent. BUT it desyncs consistently (in the same way) when avi is captured. Right now I'm capturing audio only. If capturing video only fails, we'll still have to reject the run.
