I think movie and submission descriptions shall be rated and listed somewhere, not flagged. A well as forum posts. Simply as on YT: +/-.

A wiki-style definition for a frame war is: An event when some relatively simple game is unexpectedy brought to a really high level of frame perfectness. Several people appeared to be interested in TASing it at the same time, but they didn't co-operate, they competed instead. A frame war is a chain of several quick obsoletions, sometimes they are only submitted, sometimes they also occur right in the forum treads, where the competers post WIPs improving each other several times. What can be considered several times? I don't know, I just can point to the framewars I remember: #3461: fiskerN's NES Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 "1player, Dale" in 17:18.47 #3472: goofydylan8's NES Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 "1player, Dale" in 16:33.20 #3547: fiskerN's NES Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 "1 player" in 16:24.83 #3569: feos's NES Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 "1 player" in 15:48.17 #3597: feos's NES Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 "1 player" in 15:13.80 An initial crappy movie ended up as a long obsoletion chain. #3690: TheZlomuS & DyLaX's NES Battletoads "Glitched" in 01:02.68 #3707: Marx's NES Battletoads "glitched" in 01:01.42 #3710: TheZlomuS & DyLaX's NES Battletoads "Glitched" in 00:58.07 #3750: MESHUGGAH's NES Battletoads "Glitched" in 00:56.94 A bunch of quick WIPs from the submitters were also posted in their threads. #3171: Aqfaq's Genesis Bible Adventures "Baby Moses" in 02:02.07 #3173: NitroGenesis's Genesis Bible Adventures "Baby Moses" in 02:01.40 #3181: Aglar's Genesis Bible Adventures "Baby Moses" in 02:00.37 The people's response changed from No to Yes through those improvements. #3604: Kyman's GB The Addams Family in 01:44.98 #3629: NitroGenesis's GB The Addams Family in 01:44.48 #3659: Kyman's GB The Addams Family in 01:36.05 Didn't follow.

Yeah, I think Guga would be happy if I snapped the first level. But even HIS publication of that branch had a post-movie snap (I changed it to another one, also post-movie). Guga? Also I don't understand people deadly stuck to some rules which seem to suppress creativity. Being different, as in new, the unexpected, is a part of it. If you allow SOME freedom in creative things (TASing is an art, not just a sport), it inspires innovative solutions from the unexpected place, which spurs overall development.

Frame wars occur for relatively simple games, this flag is not EQUAL to perfectness, it's something different, it's about the even, where people were having fun.

Also cool idea with the music moves. We are going to need a redesign of the publication page to keep all flags it may need. About the framewar: I personally think the framewar means people were competing in getting the best result, and it DOES mean the certain level of perfectness that ONE TASer would not achieve (no competition/motivation). Also the very frame war event is cool and notable, ideally every flagged movie provides the links to submissions that took part in it. Glitched Battlotoads were the case when the frame war was going on right in the submission thread.

Let's not use this thread for flag maintenance requests, this is just about ideas. We should have a thread dedicated to these types of posts.
Having one sticky thread for all flags maintenance is more handy than having 5 threads constantly drowning among others.

We definitely need a framewar tag! Like this:

Excuse my inconsistency. Please uncancel the run and let the judge solve that case.

It's just the audience feeling, like it happened to Metal Slug with game overs. It ruined the entertainment for plenty people, and then a rule was set, to avoid game overs in arcade games. Here we have NO strict rule, but you can foresee the entertainment-wise response if this is published (it technically has no problems with the goal).

I seocnd both features! But how do you imagine such a graph, shall it have every point someone rated a movie? This would affect the score. But it's also affected by rater's moving from one rank to another, changing the rating weight.

Then what about the rejection message:
Unfortunately, after watching both runs, this game seems like simply an inferior version of the Genesis game. The colors are dull, the bonus scenes drag out, and there isn't much to see in the different versions of the map. Rejecting for bad game choice.
DK was thinking within the old policy (reject and obsolete as much as possible, we don't need too many movies).

I also object harming enemies. Imagine a guy who kicks and punches dogs and calls himself a pacifist :D "What?? I don't kill them!!"

The logics behind the new obsoletion system is that ports to different consoles can be published even while the gameplay is SIMILAR, but when it's just versions of the same game (like modern Wii/GC/PS3 games), the game is really the same. Thought there's no straight line yet, I think it can be discussed.

I strongly dislike it, because wise people really need seeing ratings of their runs to get info on how good/bad their gameplay decisions were. Probably let the run author see ALL, and the others see only the self-uncovered ones? He needs it and he must have a right to collect stats on his own work.

The default script lacks the remover/deprecator, but I don't want to upload my packages under different links. What shall I use to delete the old package and upload the new one insted? http://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/ScriptedUploads

I enjoyed the hell out of this one, especially the overal pace applied to this LONG and BORING game and how he destroyed the switches offscreen. Definite moon! It's also insanely optimized. EDIT: oh, and the enemy rooms were EXTREMELY well handled!
