Up to Lottery in Level 2 After all I used Japanese ROM. I'll port the run to USA version manually if it will be rejected. My run is 404 frames shorter than zidanax's run, but actually it's faster only about 30 frames or less. Thousands of rerecords taught me that getting sandals first seems to be somewhat slower. I changed the route in level 2. I tested all 3 routes and find that the route which current published run used is the slowest. I noticed that unfortunately lottery glitch cannot be used in USA version. So I'm wondering if I may use the glitch in the run.

Up to Lottery in Level 2 (v2) -- AVI YouTube It's about 100 frames faster than previous WIP. Faster boss fight, faster buying at store, and slight optimizations. Changing route saves over 400 frames from DK and Yeoj's WIP. I used lottery glitch (いー0) which cannot be used in USA version. This makes the run more entertaining, also this is not a big time saver. So, I'll try the difficult battle with stage 2 boss.

Hi =), well i saw your WIP and they are far better than mine, i'm on World 5 now. I still haven't upload the .smw file, but i have them on youtube. Here is the Level 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i0s_jPpok0 After watching it, i think that is faster to take the secret cave on the house and then just continue, i haven't tried it though, but the old TAS was without shortcuts, so i realize that the cave would brake the rules =P. I'm working on the game. Now I'm at the end of stage 4. I want to manipulate the cat to level-up weapon, however, it always made error, see my wip. This is a state of the movie, it plays fine if load it. Quite strange, could anyone tell me how to fix the problem?

The other movies I've seen of the game skip past all of the random upgrades in that passageway. Perhaps it's because you get a desync if you hit one of them? It probably also causes some unnecessary lag. Also, while I know there is a bug you can use to cancel part of the level 3 weapon animation, you may not be able to go as fast even if you do use it. Why exactly do you want to get a weapon levelup there anyway?

I think boss fight would be a little faster if use level 2 weapon, and it looks cooler which manipulate cat there. :D But, maybe you are right, because of lag causing.

Ah, I had forgotten about the deaths you had just taken which would downgrade your weapon. For that particular boss, perhaps you should just stick to coins/throwing stars. Or maybe you could find a way to manipulate it such that you get cats from a playthrough of the entire movie, but not that particular savestate.

Cool glitch! You had much shortened the though. Can't the glitch work in stage 1 and 2? Or it's not useful in these stages? Death in some stages is timesaver, so I had played lottery and gotten much money to buy lives. But the glitch so magical that you need not to buy something, include pass (and dictionary?). So do you think that it's necessary to play lottery? I think U version is better, because the published movie was made by it, and the forum rule tell us that we should use U version. :)

Scroll Abuse Glitch When 1-player is holding A or B, both 1-player and 2-player can reach very corner of the screen. This can make a room transition a bit faster. In some cases, you even can skip the most part of the room! When you use the trick with vertical room transition, the players will appear from the left top corner of the room. The trick may work as a shortcut, or it may shut them in the left top corner. Ideas of use: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JojhOqKVsM (horizontal) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by5Aa9Qki6s (vertical) Lottery いー0 (A-0) Glitch (works with JPN ROM only) Choose a consecutive numbers group (tiger or cow), then choose a set quickly as far as you can, and all lotteries will become いー0 (A-0). This makes earning big money easier, though it doesn't save time so much. This trick cannot be used with USA ROM, since the interface of lottery has changed, I guess. Short Tips - Memory addresses between USA and JPN V1.2 are the same as far as I know (JPN V1.0 not). - Attacking or jumping stops the player's moving for 1 frame, generally. Practically no. I'm mainly working on other runs (or emulator development) now. I'm still keeping an eye on the topic though. I'm looking forward to zggzdydp's optimized run. Ganbare!

Wow, the quadruple coin hit is amazing. I noticed you used a few tricks from our run, and improved on some of them substantially. Good job. Also, I'm pretty sure that moving with piggy-back is slower than normal movement, and should be avoided until the last moment available.

Some years ago (2012, I think), I discovered a glitch/timesaver when you power on this game: If you press Start Button of both controllers (1 & 2), on the same frame, you Start this game, skipping the Tittle Screen and some wait before tittle screen, but, your player will be Player 2 instead of Player 1.
