No topic about this :3 Pokemon black/white 2! Still fairly new with the English version, with an Exp gain fix patch. Not sure about running a TAS my self but kinda interesting seeing its not being done yet. Never played this game yet so don't know much about it. Any knowledge about this you wish to share that would help would be great! Honestly don't know where to start, never done a TAS my self :3 Starting off: Starter pokemon Male/Female Gender - I would assume it depends on the Rival mostly, I would assume he talks different depending on the gender u are. Pokemon names length make a difference? I did a vid up to first battle. Nothing special: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/190539112/PB2-LTTP.dsm Also question that dont really fit here but: How do I resume a recording with save state? ty :) EDIT: Actually I figured it out Press Play movie, select it with read only off Then press record movie and select same file then press save state: I hope :3 Alright I started a bit into the run: Pick Male Put A as name Bring Rival's name to 1 letter long - Here I am for testing going to pick fire pokemon. Question: Setting message speed to fast is the same as just holding B while messages are going on, is it worth it to change it? Still not knowing how to RNG crit/dodge every turn, help on this?

There are actually different difficulty levels in these games that need to be unlocked. I assume Challenge Mode would be preferred.
Why, oh, why do I even <i>try</i> to understand my own species?

The problem is that the people who DO know the RNG said they would never leak it until Pokemon Black/White ceases wifi activity.

One alternate way is to study the RNG oneself. >_> In any case, Challenge Mode would be preferred. However, it must be unlocked first and can only be unlocked on Black 2 after beating the game for the first time. Should a run like that be made, a verified SRAM is needed.

From what I've heard, starting a new game undoes the unlock, and the only way to start a game in Challenge Mode is to communicate with a Black 2 cartridge to transfer the Challenge Mode key just after starting. This might be very awkward from the point of view of trying to record everything.

The issue is that transferring can only be done through Infrared-Wireless connectivity and last time I checked, emulation lacked those features. I'm also very sure that a save with Challenge Mode unlocked would not be accepted in the case of lacking the verification to show that it is not cheated.

While you're right, all that unlocking challenge mode is, is basically a key that's received for beating the game. I'm sure an exception could be made if a save file exists that just has this mode unlocked (which should be easy enough to do, I think). Since you'd be starting a game from scratch, the rest should be easy to prove it's not cheated.

I'm not sure what's involved to get this challenge mode since I haven't played anything in Gen.5. However; Why not get a copy of Black, a brand-new Black 2, unbox Black 2, go through the procress of unlocking challenge mode in Black 2, then rip the save from Black 2, upload it to your favorite file hosting website, share the url, and most importantly; Record everything in a single uninterrupted video that makes sure to get the url at the end. Since urls are randomly generated by file hosting websites, it wouldn't be possible to edit the save and reupload it later as the url would be different. Just my thought on the situation.

In order to unlock Easy/Challenge modes, you need to beat White 2/Black 2 (respectively). You get a "key" that you can exchange via IR in the cartridges to unlock the alternate mode. There's a similar "key" setup for allowing you to get Registeel and Regice and for swapping out White Forest and Black City. The thing that Black 1 unlocks in Black 2 (and White 1 with White 2) is the ability to get all of N's Pokemon from the first game and battles with Cheren/Bianca, whose Pokemon are determined by the starter chosen in the 1st game.

I did some research, here is what i got: cash: 0x022266E4 total Steps: 0x2222FE4 (In battle:) total HP: 0x0225B63A current HP: 0x0225B63C Atk: 0x0225B71A Def: 0x0225B71C Sp. Atk: 0x0225B71E Sp. Def: 0x0225B720 Speed: 0x0225B722 enemy total HP: 0x0225B85E enemy current HP: 0x0225B860 hmm, compared to the japanese version, it seems like some addresses for usa version are 0x640 higher. Also, looking at AR codes to watch IVs/EVs it seems like when you are in the Summary of a Pokemon, it changes values of some addresses of 0x21B8F48 to 0x121B9172
Hold L/R to view IV/EV on Pokemon Status Screen:

for example it changes 0x021B8FFA which has the value #$21A2 to: - #$2147 when holding L - #$210E when holding R I don't really know, maybe those values are pointers, to other functions in the code?

assembly instructions: 21XX = movs r1, 0xXX he's changing the second passed argument for this pair of functions: http://projectpokemon.org/wiki/PKM_File_Fields setPKMStat(void* pPKM, PKMField field, int data) getPKMStat(void* pPKM, PKMField field, int data) A0-A6, 46-4B, and 0D-12 are arguments you can find here: http://pastebin.com/R2inHTRV

ok, thanks to Bond697's description and this site I created a lua script which shows my/enemy's IVs, EVs, Stats and everything else on this site. I have only one problem, the start address is not the same every time. I found that the start address (which is the PID) of wild pokemon is at 0x0224795C, which is also the address for the rival battle. But for regular trainer fights it seems to be at 0x0224C2AC... Maybe my next task will be creating a lua script to decrypt the RNG, for battles or IV manipulation...

Hey, it's me again and I finished a WIP: edit: added some annotations to skip parts... Link to video To the WIP: - I named myself 3 and removed 3 characters of the name of the rival Hugh to make it H, I named my starter I - I use Tepig as starter because out of the three ones he has the highest base HP and base Attack, so Tackle will do a lot of damage at the start Manipulations: - I manipulated the IVs of Tepig to be perfect, which means 31 in every stat - I chose the Nature Lonely to increase the Attack stats, it also decreases the Defense stats - I manipulated critical hits whenever I needed and also max damage* for me and min damage* for the enemy - I didn't manipulate the wild encounters since I don't know how they work yet, but I had luck so far :) Plans: - I plan to get Pokerus on my first wild encounter - Maybe I should catch a second Pokemon for PP management *damage isn't always 100%, it chooses a random value between 85% and 100% Even though it seems like I planned everything well, there are probably things I'm doing really bad. I would be delighted if I got some feedback :)

The experience formula means it's sometimes worth considering a second Pokémon for fighting, as well as for PP management; unlike in previous generations, having to split experience between two Pokémon can sometimes be worth it. (I guess you could use a legendary, if there are any that aren't too far out of the way, but it might not be worth the effort.) Is it possible to get Bianca's Lilliup to oneshot the Purrloin? (Game Freak made that mistake back in Ruby/Sapphire. Perhaps they made it again; it's worth testing at least.)

No, I think the game loads specific values into relevant addresses so the battle it is always the same.

ais523 was asking whether a Black & White 2 tutorial battle could be cut short, glitched, or whatever by knocking out the tutorial Pokemon (tutorial in question). This is the case in Ruby/Sapphire where the tutorial battle showing how to catch a Pokemon is cut short in this TAS.

Is Black 2 or White 2 preferred? The two locations that differ with the version are Route 4 and Reversal Mountain. Black 2 is a straight shot on both (and in fact there's no sandstorm on Route 4), but there's more mandatory trainers in those areas in Black 2. Also, Charles (on Route 5 just before the Driftveil Drawbridge where Ducklett can be found) is mandatory in both versions, and you need at least three Pokémon by then, including the starter and possibly the Minccino from Route 5's Hidden Grotto. Charles will challenge a Black 2 team to a rotation, or a White 2 team to a triples. Taking all these factors into consideration (as well as the cries of the fused Kyurems) White 2 should be faster.

Use what you think is faster. This looks like similar "games obsolete each other" situation, like Pokemon Red/Blue.

I too think that White 2 is faster, but just saying that the fight against Charles is faster in Black 2 since you can just use Rollout.
