Here it is. A pretty good game for Sega Genesis. The man of steal, in tights and underpants on the outside. I talk about SUPERMAN of course! :D
In this game he's kinda soft. Must been the beginning of his career, cous he's not that all mighty and stuff. Thats why I take damage. Hardest level to complete was most probably level 2. Especially *spoiler* the train part. You will somewhat notice funny stuff in it. Such as me jumping into walls. That's because I manipulate some enemies that way. I tried to be as accurate as possible. I started out this run at 6% speed. Then I got the gens_movie_test9c.exe from Jyzero so that I was able to use the advance frame key instead. This shaved off alot of seconds for sure. Some times I even advanced in real time, where little, very little or no accuracy is needed. In the first level I don't kill as many as possible because I thought I'd have some fun with them. But instead I gathered score from other objects. Might seem kinda dumb. But thats the way I did it. In later levels I smoke almost everything that moves. :D
As stated above you will see alot of variation in this movie. Even though you might find it crazy some times. Non the less I think it's probably a good watch.
Oh.. BTW. The annoying thing at the last boss. He only requires ONE more hit. But instead he chooses to fly around like a retarded retard just to let the seconds fly past about as fast. I really tried and tried to fix/change this problem. But it woulden't help. So I decided that this is the way it has to be then.
Feel free to ask questions and leave GOOD criticism if you have any(There's always criticism so I would be surprised if there where non this time).
In short, for those who refuses to read the long message above:
  • Used Gens movie test 9c.
  • No passwords used
  • No warps used
  • Takes damage to save time
  • No death
  • Abuses luck
  • Abuses programming errors

Truncated: This is currently the oldest submission in the queue (I think). I'm not sure what to do with it. It's not badly played, but a lot of people seemed to complain about the game choice, the autoscrollers are kind of lackluster.
Opinions are very welcome. I'll make a final call in about a week.

Truncated: After a long time of not being able to make up my mind, some more feedback finally tipped the scales in favor of rejection. The votes haven't been that positive overall, and I think it's mainly the choice of game that does it.
With this, the oldest submission in the queue is from 2005.

Truncated: This submission has been put back for judging due to change of publication rules. After rewatching it, there are no glaring mistakes. Since it was made in 2004, I would not be surprised if it couldn't be improved, though. I accept it for publication in the vault tier.

Very well done. There were a few small points where I had to wonder if damage was really necessary (the beam wall tihngs in the first level, for example), but they didn't add up enough to have me doubt you. Good show. Oh, is it possible to shoot heat vision and punch at the same time?

It's not possible to shoot heat vision and punch at the same time. But with a couple of frames between each other it's possible.

The run itself looks good, the game is a mere 'Meh' tho. Since I dont' see any way to improve it I'll still give it a yes :P

I'm with TNSe here. Good run, but the game is a bit on the boring side. There's simply too much autoscrolling stages and superman isn't exactly Gradius. Anyway, I'll go with meh. I can't decide what to vote, the run is good and the game is boring.

The game was kinda funny to make just because it's that of a boring nature and the collision check is horrid. :)

I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole movie. The game is played very well, but it's a boring game. I'll watch a whole movie of a boring game if it only takes a few minutes and vote yes if it's perfect, but I have to vote Meh because I didn't care enough to be bothered to watch it to the end. Sorry!

Ugh, what an uninspired Superman game. But, the movie was not bad, except for some spots: *Second level, once you decend a few levels, you land in that green pool and take damage. Couldn't you fall left and jump over the pool? *In the final level, you get hit by those shots and come to a dead stop each time; even with poor collision-detection, you should be able to dodge and move around (taking damage in the beams is understandable). *For heaven's sake, move around more in some of the boss fights, even when you don't have to. For example, moving around as the final boss moves with his clones, in the same circular pattern, or weaving above and below the boss after you destroy his first form and he is floating along. (By the way, was that yellow guy that kept popping up supposed to be an off-colored Mr. Myxlplyk?)

*I could fall to the left instead landing in that green goo. But it would take longer time. I tried a billion times to make a land on the right side but it just wasn't possible. *Actually I save more time taking hit on those shots than moving around them, and it would look soooo bad to move around them. *About the moving part. I tried to move around when I could, but I won't be able to do much doing that anyways. I could do some wobble or something. But I've only got some frames to move in before the boss can be hit again. About the first form of last boss. I do some pretty cool stuff there while he springs out. Normally it would do damage. But I found that I could move through him if I did it right. :) Hmm.. You're right about the final boss fight though. It was kinda boring to watch. I never reflected over it. Atleast I smooked him fast. :D *Yes.. That should be Mr. Myxlplyk.

Good stuff here. The game could be better, but I don't think I could say the same for your run. ;) I'd give it a yes if I could vote. In the meantime, here's a bump.

I was a bit disappointed that the end boss didn't actually fly around like a "retarded retard" but I didn't let that affect my judgment. :D I'm voting meh, but that would probably be upgraded to yes if an improved movie were made. Creativity in general would have made a difference, since this game isn't very entertaining on it's own, as others have noted. Pacifist style autoscroll (the astaroid area?) areas, shooting the jetpack guy only in the crotch, and shooting in time to the music, just to give you an idea of what I mean by creativity. L+R glitches?

First off. I don't recon this game being an auto-scroller. There are some alternative way in the second level. Meaning that you can go in another direction etc and free more people. Not that I know if it will do any good. No I have not tested any L+R glitches, since that wasn't invented as the time being. I started to play this game before frame advance was invented. Hmm... I think I redid some parts with frame advance however. Can't remember since it's been so long time. :) Perhaps it is improvable. And sure there might be funnier way to do things. But this run was built for pure speed more or less as I wanted to see how fast this game was doable. I have very fond memories of this game as well, and I did it most because of my own satisfaction. I just hoped that someone else would like it as well. Very strange that I mostly end up with games that no one have hardly heard of, and not even played. :D It would be fun to see this movie published even though I want to make a new version to see what I can do now days. But it ain't going to happend this year probably. :( So I suppose it's up to the judges. If this run is good enough for publication, you should do that instead of wait for my new version, as that will take a LONG time before that happends. I currently have too many projects anyways. :) Cheers!

>First off. I don't recon this game being an auto-scroller. Me neither, when I said "the autoscrollers" I meant the "autoscrolling levels". Sorry if that wasn't obvious. Any other opinions on this submission?

it was very well played, but there were just certain parts that were the games problem for making me want to hit fast forward. still, its superman and its well played. a few moments of standstill here and there were kind of so-so for me, though i dont know if they were game forced or not. well played. YES.

Non that I can think of for now. It seems to be fairly popular. More than I expected really. I seem to have some kind of fetish for poor games. :D Oh! Here is some funny thing that one could check out: There seems to be a graphical glitch between levels. When the newspaper shows up etc. If you go frame by frame the newspaper will turn into a bunch of numbers and colors. :D Not useful for anything that I know though. Still a funny graphical glitch. :)

The collision check is very frustrating to watch and is the primary reason I will be voting no. It seems everytime you get near the enemy, it is faster to stop and kill him or take damage. I would enjoy this game a lot more if it were possible to do more running and less bumping into enemies. By the last level I was getting very annoyed. In addition, the boss fights are very frustrating to watch (and seem very frustrating to play :O). This guy is SUPERMAN yet has to SLOWLY hit the bosses many many times for VERY LITTLE damage. The run itself also seems improvable, with creativety at least

A strongly agree with all of these Ideas :) In summary I vote: "No" on the game "Meh" on the run

The run might be improvable. Wonder how much though. I thought I crunched it pretty good back then. Perhaps I could improve it by a couple of seconds. But I wonder if it would be worth to do it anyways. Atleast it would not be worth it right now since people doesn't find the game entertaining enough it seems. I would perhaps try to crunch it further if I see that this game get's more attention than it currently gets. But I don't think it's realistic. I like to compete against my own times. But in this case I would first want to see the run published because otherwise it would mean a waste of time. This is because I want to prove my self somehow. Sure I could crunch the game. But since it's not likley to draw attention to it I will not do it until I see it's published to get it's fair ammount of attention. Other games however are more likley to be improved before publishing. All I say is that I get allot more motivation and trying to beat my own times if I see that the game I play is liked among the users here. If you like to see improved versions, vote yes! :D That would help me alot. I don't think that this is a rough version that is not publishable. I think that this run is great when it comes to controlling the game. And as I earlier stated, the game it self is poorly made and speaks alot against SUPERMAN, which doesn't feel very super at all in this game. I was very disapointed as a kid when I bought the game when I realised that superman coulden't stand against punches etc. Perhaps every enemy in that game uses cryptonite? =) Anyways.. The submissions is always in the hands of the beholder right? So no matter the decicion made here, I will not feel sorry for it. It's just a guideline to what people likes and not. Personally I like old genesis games. :) Thanks for the comments. It's always good with critiques. :)

Aww.. Sad.. :/ Hopefully I someday will make a better run out of it. Not on my priority list though. :)
