The YouTube description has a lengthy pastebin document (credited to Tyler Kehne (or TMK on TASVideos)) with all the information about the moat door skip.

This question is answered in said document:

Although the only proven way at this time to enter VCUtM with the moat raised is with hyperspeed flying (which requires 10 stars for the wing cap), we're working on a faster 0-star method that will hopefully make this strat viable for an updated 0 stars TAS. Even without this, we expect sub 5 0 star times due to an impending PU improvement in BitFS!
So it's not quite there for any% yet, but they're working on it.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Yes, using a weird trick (trainers hate him!) where Mario gains negative V speed for 1 frame proportional to his H speed. It's a WIP. Most likely possible, but not sure if we can save time yet with it or not. Also, there's a PU BitFS strat we're working on that will hopefully save a little time.

How do you open the door since it doesn't exist in the PU?

Should probably remove “door” from the title of that vid. While it may make sense that you skipped the moat, the whole goal is to get to the moat door, so saying you skip the moat door doesn’t make any sense. Really hyped about your work, Tyler. It’s great to see all these game wizards in their respective games (Mr.Wint with Pokémon, Tyler with SM64, others I’m not remembering), too bad I’m not one of them.

The title is meant to imply "bitdw skip that uses the moat door" but I can see the easy confusion.

Ah, I get it now. Don’t know if I agree with the wording though…

Moat door skipped? Finally! Another holy grail down... you guys are insane! fun fact: I think i was the first to crash my console back in the day doing BLJs on elevators, funny that it would come back all these years later and be useful.

So does this work on an actual n64 console or just on emulator?

It works on N64 if you hold the X camera. More specifically, as long as the camera stays in bounds of the normal map.

This quote's hilarious in retrospect. Amazing find, TMK! This is the biggest thing since the 30 star door skip. I can't wait to see what ridiculous glitch you find next!

How much time must this save before the current route is slower? Assuming perfect luck involving that Bowser jump as well for the first 2 fights.

Now THIS is a truly amazing news coming from this game, not some guys using an inaccurate emulator to get closer to a fake sub 5. Great job on finally getting this skip!
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

WOW! Remarkable. Congrats to sonicpacker and Tyler Kehne. Wonder how fast you can complete the game getting 0 stars and finally, this run will be faster than Super Mario Bros :D

You know how if you BLJ a lot, you can end up in a weird invisible OOB area where you can run around (on emulator/VC at least, it always seems to crash on console)? Idk if you know why that is, but for those who don't, the function that checks for the floor triangle below Mario converts Mario's position to short integers for the calculations. Since shorts range from -32768 to 32767, if Mario's coordinates are outside of that range they will overflow back into it. This creates an infinite 2D grid of invisible copies of the level, spaced every 65536 units. The copies (in the ABC chat we were calling them "parallel universes/PUs", idk if that will catch on) have the exact same arrangement of floor and ceiling triangles, but all wall triangles are missing, as are most objects, and all water is gone.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

Preposterous Undulations, the really technical term for BLJs.
