Speaking of posting something in the context of a discussion, do you have any Vaulted movies you want to see moved to Moons?
Well, as I wrote earlier, I don't think any Vault movies should be moved to Moons. I think that the current Mooned any% and 100% movies should be elevated to Vault status. IMO.
Warp, there are other threads for debate and ideas on how site policy and tier structure should work. They have already been linked to. If you have nothing to contribute to this specific topic, which is moving movies in the current site system, then please refrain from posting in this topic.

My question was on-topic, your response guided it back off-topic. If you have anything further to say about your topic, there are other threads for it, including one that was linked not a few posts earlier that you've posted this very same idea in before. I didn't want this thread to turn into yet another "change the site" discussion, I merely wanted to try to give some Vaulted movies a little more exposure, maybe get people to actually notice them and discuss them and see which ones could use a bit of a promotion. Can we please keep it that way from now on?

I would agree with those listed. Actually if I could get specific, I, having not watched any of the Battle Network runs, was surprised despite its length how entertaining it was.

Any thoughts on those?
Quick thoughts: Moving into Moons: I agree with Ghosts 'n Goblins and Mega Man Battle Network 2. Disagree with The Karate Kid and Hydlide. Moving into Vault: I agree with Spyman and Nikujin. Not yet fully decided about Syobon Action, leaning towards Vault.

I think Nikujin, and Spyman probably too, very much belong in the Moons tier. They're short, quick, and show a number of visible and obvious speed tricks. If those go to vault, so will in theory a lot of other current Moons exhibiting a similar level of quality to those two movies, which implicitely raises the bar for Moons. If that is the desired outcome, then go ahead. The rest I'm undecided about.

Yet a few suggestions: Moving into Moons: May be one of Adventure Islands deserved moon? Or even both. Moving into Vault:
I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Current projects: NES: Tetris "fastest 999999" (improvement, with r57shell) Genesis: Adventures of Batman & Robin (with Truncated); Pocahontas; Comix Zone (improvement); Mickey Mania (improvement); RoboCop versus The Terminator (improvement); Gargoyles (with feos)

[980] NES Snow Bros. "2 players" by Randil in 13:56.85 Entertainment rating of 3.8 and pretty clearly not moon material. I think it is in moons because it can't be in the vault because the 1 player run is there and faster (only any% and 100% in the vault). Therefore, I propose that we have the 1 player movie obsolete the 2 player, I think that would have been the better decision back when 1 player was published, and it is not too late to do that now. I'm willing to give some leeway on entertainment ratings for moon movies (especially since ratings are not that accurate, and there is no definition of what a moon movie's rating should be). But 3.8 is awfully low, and I think a vast majority of people would agree it is not moon material.

It should also be noted that the 2 player TAS is very old and is more than likely unoptimized. It is entirely possible that the 2 player could be faster than the 1 player when optimized, and would then obsolete the 1 player. We need someone to look into 2 player because it would be a shame if people automatically assumed that 1 player is faster for this game because the 2 player is obsolete. And yes as it is, the 2 player should be vaulted and then obsoleted.

How many more frames cost when using one-arm bandit in 2 player one?

It takes only a cursory look to see that the 2 player run is noticeable faster on most stages, although ironically, not the first few. As stages get more complicated, it's often a full second or two ahead. The advantage is completely wiped out by the ~13 extra seconds per bonus stage times four bonus stages. It's obviously suboptimal, but it's also ancient.

Unless anyone strongly objects, I'm going to change the 2-player run to Vault and have it obsoleted by the 1 player as dunnius suggested.

Great, but if you're going to recategorize some runs, please check the other suggestions in this thread as well. Assuming you agree with them, of course.

I don't strongly object, however I'm mildly opposed to the idea of just obsoleting it with an already published movie. I'd rather wait for a new 1P movie to obsolete it rather than just quietly setting it to obsoleted (I can already see Alyosha submitting it actually), but if it does happen this way I'm not going to complain about it. So I guess I've rendered my own opinion irrelevant. Way to go, me. Has this happened in the past? I'm curious, now.

[2870] NES The Last Ninja by illayaya in 08:01.11 Both of the published TASes of this game have received fairly unenthusiastic ratings. This one was handed a lowly 4.6, which, needless to say, isn't a particularly common rating for Moon movies. From watching it, I don't see much particularly jumping out as moon material. Anyone disagree? EDIT: I'm not a newbie anymore! This... is really important.

Feos' rating of 1 is clearly dragging down that Last Ninja TAS by a lot. I personally don't think it's moon material, but it's a recent publication with only 3 votes. Moving it to vault would probably be jumping the gun.

You bring up a valid point, we should probably wait until a minimum number of ratings or time has passed. Having said that, I've discovered that time can really change people's perceptions...

[2555] GBA Advance Wars by Kiske & mtvf1 in 13:33.39 I stumbled on this recently. It is a vault movie with a 6.4 entertainment rating. I rated it a 6 (which on my scale means a solid moon-worthy movie). It only has 5 votes, but none of them are lower than 6 in entertainment. Maybe this is a good moon candidate?

Just going through the vault, looking at stuff above 6.0 Entertainment (and has 5 votes or more). 6.5 [2981] SNES Classic Kong Complete by BrunoVisnadi in 01:56.91 6.4 [2555] GBA Advance Wars by Kiske & mtvf1 in 13:33.39 [2700] Genesis Duke Nukem 3D by Dimon12321 in 20:03.75 [2319] GBA Mega Man Battle Network 2 by mtvf1 in 1:38:35.28 6.3 [2605] Wii Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! by McHazard in 01:40.15 [2433] NES Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Trouble in Wackyland by Palidian in 13:13.11 6.2 [1356] SNES Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team "2 players" by White Gastra in 17:50.27 6.1 [2578] DS Sokoban DS by coldsun0630 in 2:39:07.44 [2031] GBC Dragon Warrior Monsters (Japan) by tetora_X in 30:36.72 [2398] NES RollerGames by NhatNM in 13:30.47 [3042] Genesis Strider by Neofix & Alyosha in 07:22.39 6.0 [2217] Genesis World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck "2 players" by Mitjitsu in 18:47.73 [2542] PSX Pepsiman: The Running Hero "100%" by NhatNM in 19:32.45 [2136] NES The Jungle Book by X2poet in 20:11.84 [2060] Genesis Batman Forever "2 players" by Keirden in 15:27.02 [2710] Genesis Disney's Pinocchio by Archanfel in 10:09.13 [2408] Wii Pucca's Kisses Game by RachelB in 45:31.45 [2916] N64 Mario Party "Mini-Game Island" by Senshin Ichii in 36:11.00 [2132] GBC Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Tara's Adventure by tetora_X in 58:25.63 [1825] NES Pinball Quest by Aqfaq in 03:39.52 5.9 [2451] DS Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus by Hoandjzj in 3:22:12.63 That, will be the last one I'll point out, as there are quite a number sitting with a 6 on Entertainment.

One of Cratermaze's 3 votes is a 10/10 from the author. So, yeah, discard that one.

Also, as you stated, 3 votes not 5 like I mentioned. Whoops.
