The post BrunoVisnadi linked is one example, but I've received quite a few messages over the years from a few different people that Funny TAS either had little or no good candidates or should be abolished entirely. (Personally, looking back through the years, I don't think the award has really had a good winner since
2013).
This year when I discussed award categories on IRC, I decided to look at whether Funny TAS should be kept (instead of receiving criticism too late, like the previous years), and concluded it was not worth keeping. In the past year, 0 playarounds and 2 demonstrations were published, and only
one of the demonstrations actually has
some comedic intents. Anything
else that could be suggested would be mostly coincidental moments of comedy or brief playarounds that could be placed in a speed TAS.
In the end I decided, along with adelikat and others, that there weren't enough viable candidates to run a Funny TAS award, so we've retired it.
