Comments

Mostly better optimization here and there. Big thanks to Dacicus for his existing movie and pointing out creatures spawn are based on screen positioning and amount of active sprite tiles on screen which helped me improve movie further.

Here's an HD encode instead of the 144p one you posted. Link to video
I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! "when resyncing stuff sucks it's called Resuccing" - EZGames69 “If an emulator stops being accepted to the site it should be called an emuLAMEr” - EZGames69 "oh no discord, everything I say will now be logged forever, sdfsdf, time to hide" - Masterjun "just had to give therapy to a taxi with daddy issues" - psx Current Projects: Mother 3 (75% complete)

Nice, I forgot to do upscaling for my video, replacing my submission video, thanks for that.

After reviewing my movie couple times, I think I found an area I may able to improve. Can this be on pause / delay until resolved? I don't have option for that.

Please replace movie with file below and resume judging: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/67792134484038849 Saved extra 10 frames in L3-0, didn't get me much as I was hoping to, but better than nothing. Thought I would able to kill off minotaur instead of waiting for him to move away to save huge amount of frames, turns out he had too much hp that he would still walk into Kuros before I get to kill it off. Earned extra 10 from being able to quickly move to right after killing minotaur when he stopped moving. *edit - beware, video in submission is outdated, only changed is L3-0 and final strike on final boss

Set to delay. I'm going over large improvement already in L4-2 (79 extra frames saved) and possible final boss, I'm reviewing early level in 1-1 too. *edit - No need to delay, please replace to this movie: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/67861261033703526 I also sacificed a few frames in eariler levels to conserve "damage shield" and use it for final boss, saved extra 62 at final boss. I've also saved few frames in some levels. 169 frames saved in this movie. I hope this is final. Once replaced movie is up, I'll redo frame table. *edit - done

As this would end up in the Vault, wouldn't it be faster if damage was taken? Matter of fact, the ratings for the current publication which also avoids damage, aren't particularly strong. The Vault is meant for strictly speed-based records, so I believe it'd be better to take damage to save time (assuming it saves time, of course). If it does, then it's essentially the same situation as with Rambo. EDIT: Just played a tiny bit casually, and there's zero knockback when taking damage. As such, I'm sadly led to believe that judgement was passed a bit hastily, as taking damage would be faster in any way (at least from a quick glance).

That I did not know, and I choose to honor same goal as previous movie because I didn't find it interesting to just walk thru enemies. EDIT:

Go on, reject and let previous movie stay? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Here's Dacicus's lua scripts to assist in creating TAS for this game if anyone care to do faster movie with taking damages. Vault tier limits the movie goal choice to fastest completion and full completion, and including tradeoffs doesn't mean that the movie isn't aiming for fastest completion. In fact, the Movie Rules don't explicitly ban tradeoffs from Vault, unless I'm missing something. Additionally, we have a precedent of a movie being accepted for Vault while knowingly featuring tradeoffs: #5429: Noxxa's PSX TOCA Touring Car Championship "max points" in 10:30:25.84

This is ultimately not my call to make. Though I will say that I genuinely feel bad for you, because this TAS at least has some merit, and in no way was my intention to get this TAS ultimately rejected. ThunderAxe, I'd normally agree with that, but this is essentially the same situation as with Rambo, with an improvement to the previous publication getting rejected because no damage was taken. Afterwards, a new Rambo TAS was submitted that took damage to save time, which ended up obsoleting the one that didn't take damage. I'd also like to point out that the current Wizards & Warriors X publication predates the Vault.

2~5 seconds maybe. Best place to do that is around 16200 with flying and and minotaur blocking the way. Another good place may be at 22750 with 4 bat blocking the way. But after that, make sure to recover to at least 2.5 heart so you can take final boss attack twice down to a half heart.

Vault rules have been clarified to reflect how we have historically treated submissions with speed/entertainment tradeoffs:
Opportunities to entertain the audience where it does affect time are discouraged, though not disallowed if the overall technical quality and optimization are up to par. A movie that does not have speed/entertainment tradeoffs will always be prioritized over one that does.
No actual rule changes have been made. This submission can be published as planned, though future submissions should take damage to save those 2-5 seconds.
