When i saw morimoto's video i first thought this guy has no life, he trained to this point of perfection! but then i watched over and over and there were some stuff that just didnt fit. for instance, i couldnt by any means kill the goombas while going up a jump so i thought there was something wrong.
If i thought these videos were made at skill i wouldnt dare submitting anything because i know i wouldnt be a match.

Exactly, now that ive seen the video lots of times, I think he cheated, its impossible to not commit any single mistake until the end specially playing like he did .... the only player who could play like that is if God would have a Mario Bros in Heaven or somethin.. :D
He must edited the game or somethin..because even if he was an 10 year expert in Mario is IMPOSSIBLE to play like that...
Easy explanation for Any:
These movies are made with savestates. That means that you can redo any part, for example a level (or half a level, or 5 seconds), for as many times as you want. People here just redo it until it is perfect. You don't have to do it in one sitting.
Moreover, slowdown is used. This makes our reflexes better.
Everything performed in the videos is still possible under the game's logic. It is just extemely hard.

Also, note that the page says:

The word "by", in English, in this context means that the maker of the movie was Genisto.

Hahaha, I remember being like that when I first came to this site. I also thought Tool assisted just meant playing on an emulator. First video I watched was the metroid run with 14% of item collection. I was amazed and was like damn, this guy must compete hardcore in tournaments. Then I watched one of super contra and was like holy crap, must be a lot of people who compete. Im pretty good but these people are gods. Then I got skeptic and started reading more and I felt much better about my skills afterwards hahaha.
