This is better in every single way than your last submission. You have fast boss-killing strategies and well optimized movement. I could definitely use a few things from this TAS to improve my speedrun. However, I'm voting meh because there is a faster way to kill the first boss that would knock a few seconds off of the run. You can hit the boss while he is still swinging his sword, instead of hitting him afterwards. The positioning and timing is strict, but with frame advance and rerecords it should be pretty easy. Other than that I thought the run was great, and when you fix that problem I'll vote yes. P.S. I know Neofix's TASes usually have a low rerecord count, but in this game it's justified because optimizing movement in this game is easy, even though the game is difficult to beat.

Some thoughts: Several times, you push against the walls when falling next to it. Isn't there any acceleration? If so you should fall a bit away and press forward so that you just miss it. Can you go between the sharp bamboo stick traps instead of waiting for them to move and go on top? The dinosaur boss stops flashing for a while before you hit him again. Perhaps this is unavoidable or perhaps he cannot be hurt directly when he stops flashing. Can you make the last boss do the short attack every time, or is the attack pattern predefined?

truncated, yes you can move between the bamboo spikes. i've done this many times without any slowdown or reloads so with those 2 things it could speed things up a bit. 1.) fall down between the ledge and the spike pit. be careful not to overshoot the landing. 2.) when the spikes have gone up, tap the jump button (see for yourself how long to hold it) and move toward the spikes 3.) your head and shoulders should pass right through the spikes and you will land on the other side ok. hope that helps EDIT - after watching the movie i can say great work ^_^ i liked it since this was 1 of the games i actualy owned as a kid. yes

I can't view this movie right now (using a school computer) but I just wanted to give my full support to this project. It sounds like each attempt is better than the last. I love this game and I can't wait to see it...whenever that might be. As Vanilla Ice once said, "Go Ninja go ninja GO!"

Well, it's a lot less simple than the original Shinobi, and it looked pretty well played. Nice use of fast and high jumps in the vertical sections. Boss fights were really cool. It's a bit slow though, so after a while I switched to watching it with a frame skipped. I'll vote yes.

well, this is an entertaining & short enough game, I'd like to see a published run of this game. This run however isn't quite publish-worthy yet. There are mulitple improvements (already mentioned in above posts). Those need to be cleaned up. Therefore I am voting no, in hopes Neofix will work on an improved version.

Same as adelikat. Stage 1 has just two big problems : it appeared that it was possible to get through the spikes, and it was possible to kill the boss faster. I don't see an enormous (yet it is large) difference between that tas and this. But I don't think it's that problematic, I found it was flawless. And it is well played. For that I vote meh, hoping that Neofix will improve his run. If not, I may try to improve but I wonder if I will manage to succeed.

I think this movie can be improved very significantly. Upon further examination, here are some of my notes: 1) There were a few moments were jumping before reaching a ledge to increase acceleration should have saved time. 2) In level 2 - one bamboo trap looked like it could have been skipped but your jump was poorly timed. Of course Dark Mana also shows how you can skip these entirely. That should be a significant amount of time saved. 3) A few levels are relatively dull, perhaps you could play with death in those? Try killing the enemies at the last possible moment instead of as soon as the come on the screen (don't do this on all levels as it would get old eventually). A good example is the level that starts at about 5min (the one after the 3rd boss). The level is very straightfoward. All you have to do is just run right and kill enemies. I would have liked to see you play around with the enemies more since there is nothing else going on. The level around 8:20 is another good example. 4) At about 4:40 game time you jump up, miss a ledge and jump at it again. Could you have just waited for the ledge. Jumping & missing looks sloppy. Also, it seemed like you didn't get to the platform as soon as possible as a result. 5) Boss 5 (around 7:30) - you got on far side of turret , shot it and then moved TOWARD it instead of to the right to the exit. It seems the fastest thing would have be to run right as soon as possible and hit it with a projectile so that you are already on the farthest part of the screen when it is destroyed. 6) In the next level, you use the "electricy" powerup (no idea what it is called). I assume it is so you can pass through enemies. Using it is terribly slow. I don't see how it could have been faster than stopping & killing the enemies (or just taking damage!). 7) Boss 6 - it looked like you didn't hit enemy at peak of your jump and therefore didn't begin hitting him as soon as possible. There were some other small optimizations throughout, like jumps that could have been more optimally timed, timing your direction changes at the optimal frame, etc. Also, taking damage could have saved a lot of time in this run. Therefore the "takes no damage" may not be an appropriate goal. Often a takes damage to save time movie is more impressive than a doesn't take damage movie, because health is a limited resource and using it optimally requires intelligent and creative choices. It depends on game. Aim for the thing that is more difficult to accomplish. What we do not want to see is apathetic masochism when they could be avoided with no cost. And what we do not want to see is mechanically stopping to trash every obstacle in front of you. (Quoted from the guidelines) I think the improvement mentioned in the discussion could shave another minute off of this run. This improved run would certainly be publish worthy and I hope the author or someone else does so :) Unfortuantely, I will reject this run.
