Quite a journey to make an N64 game. First of all, this would have never been completed without the help from everyone on the message board and in IRC. More of a thank you to MWL for providing a walkthough, via webpage located: http://mwlin.freehostia.com/wiki/index.php?title=TAS/Speed. Thank you to AKA, Acryte, YautjaElder, and everyone on SDA forum and NESVideos forum for much of needed help.

A short description on what went on: OH NO! Dreams of soon-to-be Deja Vu & The Great Deku Tree is in need of help!
Kokiri Forest - Fastest route in getting rupees so far. No more diagonal walking unless needed in certain areas for a small distance.
Inside the Deku Tree - Ahh, the 1st dungeon. In the room with the Skullita and web on the ground, there is a new method there which will take off 4 minutes or so in the next run. I got lucky in the Pre-boss room.
To skip a lot of backtracking, there is a part where Link grabs a chicken and jumpslashes over the Guerdo fence to go to the Spirit Temple.
Haunted Wasteland - There is a poe that navigates you through the desert, but with brilliant skill, Link surpases that.
Spirit Temple - What a fun 1/2 of a dungeon where Iron Knuckle meets his doom for the 1st time! Also, there is a way to get the Mirror Shield early, maybe it will get used in a future run.
  • Had just enough of a heart remaining to die upon impact for a death/warp
Fishing Pond - Swimmin into the middle of the pond after catching the biggest fish and holding Z & R while swimming to the owner will give you the Golden Scale, needed to dive deep and get the bottle. There is a way to skip King Zora now without the bottle, maybe it will get used later on.
Hyrule Castle - The 1st of 2 seamwalks. Seamwalks are tough when you start out, but practice makes it easier. The sidehopping past the guards was fun because they just look to lazy to say anything to you.
Zora's Fountain - There was said to be a way to roll into Jabu-Jabu's mouth at the perfect pixel angle, but after many attempts, I gave up and did the next easiest thing, which is jumpslash on him to enter.
Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly - Fun dungeon with a stabbing bomb boost for the Mini-boss skip.
Dodongo's Cavern - 85% of this dungeon was skipped due to the bombchu's lighting the eyes. No one could prove if it was possible to light both eyes with 1.
Death Mountain Trail - The 2nd and last seamwalk to get to the Great Fairy Fountain and jumpslash through the mountain side to enter since I had no bombchu's.
Market - At the Market, I went bombchu bowling for the bomb bag upgrade to carry 30 bombs. Even though I didnt get the bombs, when I become an adult, they are automatically filled!
Temple of Time - OH NO! Ganon, The King of Evil, has followed me into the Temple of Time!
Graveyard - The dead Graveyard keep is wanting to race me in his grave! He likes my style so he gives me the Hookshot! Back in the Graveyard, the Poe boost was never accomplished after thousands of tries. So a new method was discovered!
Shadow Temple - The funnest watching Temple of them all! This is where I pick up the hover boots because they are needed for the other Temple's (Forest and Spirit). Bongo Bongo met his final beat.
Lost Woods - Since Mido did not get any taller, I might as well just backflip over him!
Sacred Forest Meadow - To skip most of the annoying enemies in this area, I used a "stored ground jump" to get to the top of the ledge and hover my way on down.
Forest Temple - Only thing needed out of here is the Fairy Bow. Once I got that, I played the Requiem of Spirit and went to the Spirit Temple to finish the 2nd and final Temple.
Spirit Temple - Some obstacles were in my way because I did not have the Longshot, but just a few seconds were lost in climbing and such. The witches could have been beaten a little faster but I could not position them so they would not move, got frustrated and gave up! However, I did stab Twinrova to death.
Inside Ganon's Castle - ALL SAGES UNITE! The most desynching part of the game is here in the Castle. Redo, after redo was put into this, but finally got it done!
  • Going down the tower, I only needed to keep Zelda moving to where she needed to go
On Ganon, there is a place behind his foot where if you stay and don't move, he'll just glide you around like a merry-go-round.
Final blow on Ganon is at frame 539871, 2 Hours 29.8Minutes. End of movie is at frame 552279, 2 Hours 33.4 Minutes.
Enjoy the video!

That was a very nice ending, rather surprising and quite entertaining. I think that the escape is my favourite part, as you can see where link is going(!) for once. Definite yes vote from me.

Holy crap, you're done already? I remember checking the thread when there was a perfectly optimized cinematic opening sequence, and I remember talk of the Great Deku Tree, but I stopped following the thread. I'll have to watch this as soon as I have 2 hours to devote to it. First sleep, then work. I look forward to voting tomorrow night.

I could only watch the parts that were encoded to avi, but that's enough to warrant a yes vote.

Voting yes since I've watched everyone of your released WIPs (Edit:Now seen this submission too; final part of Ganon). It must be a big relief to finish this run :) My favorite parts are: How you entered Shadow Temple (and your performance in there). How flexible you were with your HP knowing that currently, saving/restarting through the menu doesnt work for this game. I think I speak for many people that when you eventually will start working on your version 2 run, it will be big relief excluding that annoying alerting sound of low HP. Edit: Hey guys, what a great TASing weekend this has been! First Baxters TMNT2 run, then Scumtrons Ninja Gaiden 2 run, and now G'Bowls megarun :) Whats next? Shinryuu's & Biscuits NES Rockman 2 run in xx:xx? O_o

I'm voting YES too without seeing the Spirit/Ganon segment. No problem with this I think. I'm sure it is good too. I'm just waiting to the AVI!

Watched the final segment (and the rest before it of course). I vote yes even though some have expressed concern that this uses an inferior emulator. It's a great N64 TAS, sets a great mark for runs to come and should definitely published. The merry go-round was awesome. :)

The next run would tear the game apart even more with the BA + Ganon Early strategy. I've voted yes even though there's a lot of imperfections in it (I'm not critizing the areas where luck was required for the next room) which probally meant that the game was done mostly using slowdown instead of frame advance and there is a lot of methodical errors in it e.g. ruppee run, parts of tree and Forest Temple as well. I've thought about doing a TAS on this game provided Mupen gets updated and becomes more friendly to use e.g. Auto Stick Spin Manual Angle and Tilt input system (very useful)* Frame Skip goto frame input ** * e.g. 250.51 degrees and 0.78 tilt (0 being neutral 1 being full tilt) ** e.g GOTO frame |45678| (| X | = input frame box) Its difficult to explain but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say

Wow, this went really fast! I watched the WIPs and the AVIs and was very impressed. I also followed the thread closely and read about all the desynch issues and hardships that occured during the making of this run. Now that it's completel, it's a gimme. Instant YES vote. Awesome job Guano!

Just finished watching it and I can say it came out incredible. No desyncs as expected and it ran real well. Yes vote of course.

Oh, so you want polar coordinates on your analog stick do you?? That would not allow for the extra range past the plastic edge of the controller. Interesting...

I vote yes. The run was quality material, especially after the Deku Tree. You put SO much effort into this run, despite the 5000+ route changes you had to go through. I love this run, and I can't wait to see more of your work. Hopefully improving this run (with the new route, and maybe slightly more precision) is on the top of your list :). Great run, great progress, great perseverance, GREAT JOB!

Been following this, and even though it can be improved with tricks discovered during the process of making the run or route changes, it's still a definite yes.

I mean that N64 emulators bite ass and are too irritating to deal with. That and I don't feel like scouring IRC for OoT. I have a site for roms, but it's retarded and you can only get so much per day. That and I ahve to friggin' alt-tab out and back to do anything. Open the emulator, alt-tab twice, THEN I can access menus.

You have to watch the movie from beginning to end in order to really appreciate it. As AKA said, the pre-Deku Tree stuff was noticeably unoptimized, whereas a chunk of the child portion was indeed done using slowdown instead of frame advance. Simply compare the time spent playing ocarina songs to tell the difference. Dodongo's Cavern is really where it starts looking very impressive, and by the end...well, you just have to see it to believe it. Above all else, I really admire the author's perseverance, as others have mentioned. The route went through at least four revisions mainly due to problems with reaching Hyrule Castle during the daytime (as those of you who've played the game know, the drawbridge is raised after sunset and you'd have to wait in Hyrule Field until sunrise for it to lower, which wastes about a minute in real time), and each time, GuanoBowl had to redo significant portions of his run. Also, the desynch issue caused a lot of problems, and there were dozens of times when he had to restart just because the movie went out-of-sync after a certain frame and was essentially worthless from that point on. He came close to quitting once but he pulled through--and this is now one of the greatest speedruns considering its length and overall technical quality. So, it's been a pleasure helping out, and with any luck this run will be published soon so I can get a full AVI and start working on a list of corrections that could be made for a follow-up run. When that time comes, it'd be very much appreciated if any others knowledgeable with the game could pitch in as well.

Great job on this run, GuanoBowl. You spent a lot of time on it, and it's easy to see the quality getting better as the game progresses. Unfortunately, I voted no because we already know how to improve some parts of it (e.g., Deku Tree).

Although I haven't watched the entire run from start to finish, I have watched bits and pieces now and then. Enough to vote yes, at least. Even if there are known improvements, it will be a while before someone is again crazy enough to do a new run. It might also be wise to wait until the emulator is steadier than a rock and the rerecording more bulletproof than ... something really sturdy and bulletproof ... before that is done.

I can watch it up until Dodongo's Cavern, where it desyncs; he fires Bombchus then side hops into the lava and dies.
Voted NO for NO reason
