Here's my improved Metroid 2 Any%-run, done in 166'644 frames.
(Any equals 41 or 43)
VBA 19
Allow RL/UD
  • Aims for fastest time
The run is 6524 frames, 108,733 seconds, faster than my previous submission.
2619 frames gained on improved movement,
2539 frames gained on improved Metroid battles,
1100 frames gained on route changes (Thanks RT-55J),
266 frames gained on better sand-shooting, door opening, etc.
I could not avoid Queen from spitting those... things at me.
Check out my previous submission for info on items used, people to thank etc etc. Of course the frame numbering used there is useless to this run.
Also extra thanks to jimsfriend for ideas and moozooh for watching WIPs.
Enjoy.

adelikat: Claimed for encoding.

I just finished watching, and am very impressed. Awesome planning, awesome execution. Especially the Metroid battles are really impressive, plus you managed to avoid their explosions where I never thought it feasible. Also, lol at the infini-bomb-spider-hover thingie ^^

I've always found Metroid runs entertaining, and this is no exception. Somehow, even just watching Samus move through the game was entertaining. Yes vote.

Great run! It's clearly visible that cardboard has alot of experience in TASing this game. The boss battles were awesomely tight optimized, and the last explosion animation very smartly avoided by abusing the screen change. Also it seems that you managed to optimize damage boost and jumping precision while going up rooms even more than in the previous submission. It looked very entertaining on top of that. Also the energy and Missile management is just top, by being able to finish the queen with exactly 0 Missiles left. :-) Obvious YES vote, what else can I say! Great and especially fast job Cardboard!

'kay. My browser shows that there's just a few parts that aren't being shared, but I imagine as soon as someone gets those parts it'll take, you know, two seconds to finish.

Apparently, adelikat didn't want to encode it in color. Instead, he encoded it… in color! Because I don't know how else to call it: A B&W video with pink tint on one side and green on the other, awesome! \o/
