Seriously someone should make a collage of all quotes from "someone" saying that 49:15 was unconditionally the best possible escape timer surrounding a picture of 49:17.
Ok, time to clear everything up I guess:
First, I already discovered the turn around trick to save a frame in the last room, and actually got a 49'17 myself around a month ago, which was the reason I suddenly planned to start a new SM-TAS in this days (despite still working on SM-Redesign). Those who have seen me in IRC recently (moozooh, hero etc.) already knew about that. However I decided to not mention my 49'17 time again, to increase the surprise even more when that run would be finished. Once again Taco and Kriole did a great job to spoil the last shit out of my run for the Ceres part. I agree that this time is definitely the limit now.
As you can see now, my "legendary" 49'15 was perfect, just without the weird turn around trick that saves the last frame.
I want to be honest with you though (because I'm always fair), I didn't know about that 2nd room delay that was the key to get 800 instead of 801 before Ridley. Great Job Taco, at least one thing you found that I didn't know yet. :-)
(this doesn't change anything in the 49'17 escape though)
So now that you, Taco, finally got a perfect Ceres time after 1 year of work (which I did in ~2 days during my old any% WIP - when not counting the turn around trick Kriole found for you), do you consider to work on a full run now? I would certainly be interested to see how well you could do in Zebes as well.
Anyway, I hope everybody is happy now that Ceres got fully cracked. ;-)
This hopefully opens the way for TASer like moozooh to finally start a serious project without worrying about a unoptimized Ceres segment anymore.
That sound interesting, what kind where you thinking about?
He said he was going to do a RBO a any% (realtime oriented) or a 100% run.
Not that I ever really really cared about it but yeah I guess it is nice that everyone now can shut up about ceres forever :) (or until something very unexpected happens)
You don't think that's a little over exaggerated? AIAFK he signed up here after I did and I got here in summer. Also I doubt that he has been working for hours every day...
I don't know what it is about Saturn but he tilts me more than literally everything else on the internet. I have no idea why I let him annoy me this much, but he does. It's so weird :(
DK64_MASTER:
That 49'15 time I got 1,5 years ago is perfect "if" not including the turn around trick in the last room.
Not sure yet, but most likely a any% as well.
Yeah, maybe it is. I just took this quote as a reference:
Fabian:
There is no reason to be annoyed on me for clearing a case up to avoid confusion.
Taco and Kriole, congratulations on a very aspired-for achievement. All the credit goes to the two of you and no one else.
Saturn, I hope you overcome your own pride some day. You're way out of bounds here.
<Swordless> Go hug a tree, you vegetarian (I bet you really are one)
Just like Pom's Super Mario Bros movie was not improvable until the flagpole trick came around?
You can say anything is perfect, if you discount the imperfections >_<.
Hey guys, just dropped to tell you I just made a perfect Ceres.
Note that I made it in just five minutes! And I swear to god, it's abso-fucking-lutely perfect!
Very nice. I noticed a few places where the damage boosts looked improvable by a frame or two, but I'm no expert at this game, and you clearly are. The fact that you did a perfect ceres without rerecords is just all the more impressive to me.
So now the people who have individually achieved a perfect ceres within 25 minutes of each other are Taco, Saturn, moozooh, right?
The rerecord count got broken after I cut the Ceres bit from the sub-30 minutes any% run I have here since 1997.
Just wanted to clear up the confusion, that's all.
I think you could have jumped a little higher from the elevator in the beginning, also maybe save a frame by getting hit in the stairs at a more optimal frame.
I also somehow found it hilarious that you did the "turbo two buttons on alternating frames" in the intro by hand.
Oh thats pure gold right there :)
Hmm, I was pretty sure I tested this strategy before, and it was same fast! Congrats PJ, this is definitely the limit now. You have abused it to the fullest!
But you have to agree, my "legendary" movie was absolutely perfect if you don't count these weird optimizations people are talking about (wtf people).
Probably his superiority complex, using every opportunity to talk about how great he is while dismissing other's achievements as "oh yeah, I did that years ago, you spoiled my RBO" or just recently "yeah, but you spent a year on it, I did that before breakfast while curing cancer".
Some of his claims have been proven wrong (pretty much whenever he says 'perfect'; Saturn: buy a dictionary sometime and look it up). For the other claims, he lacks proof and denies to give any. Still, you can't call him out, because you know he's good at TASing and might have done it.
Combine that with the fact that he's virtually worthless for SM speedruns, as he doesn't share his tricks and hasn't finished a run for years. He's abusing the community you like by using everyone else's tricks while not contributing his own findings.
So there you have a someone with an ego way bigger than yours (tasvideos.org isn't short of egos, mind you..), and you can't do anything about it. You can't prove he's full of shit and drive him out, he's too smart for that. You can't get him to be a productive member either, he won't share and he won't finish his runs. And most of all, you can't get him to shut up.
He wastes his incredible talent trying to boost his ego (while actually just pissing off everyone) instead of becoming a respected member by contribution.
Yeah, sometimes he annoys me as well. Then I remember that he doesn't matter and laugh it off. Until he proves useful, I'd just regard him as a nuisance. If at all possible, try ignoring him, get technical help if needed. The only thing he has proven is that he won't change.
also, lol @ moozooh :)
How can you badmouth Saturn so much? He's shown every one of his tricks after they got spoiled by other people, only so that I could rip him off and use them in my runs!

Saturn: I agree that it is more fun, sometimes at least, to not spoil tricks and such used in a new run. But this is getting ridiculous now. I think you shall drop the prideness a bit :/.
When I read your post in your CT submission topic, that there's no need to even look for improvements in the run, as there aren't any left to find; I became a bit upset to be honest. You can never know if a movie is perfect or not. It has been said a lot of times to the SMB run, but has been proved wrong...
You are doing great TASes, but nothing is perfect, as Moozooh just proved for this game.
Why is everyone offending Saturn? He's the one whose found all the optimizations which is what everyone cares the most about in the end, not just some pointless torizo skip pffft :p
I dont think ¾ of a minute is pointless but saying that it is is. Nobody cares who found it. All that matters is the author of the currently published run and the one who obsoletes it.
Your point makes no sense. Nobody cares who found the improvement, only the person who made the full movie?
Either neither matter (end result, no specific people recieve credit for a run), or both matter (all involved users recieve some level of credit). You can't have just one.
