My english is bad. Decap Attack is a great platform game only for Genesis. It's similar to Magical Hat no Butobi (Genesis, Japan), Psycho Fox (SMS) and Kid Kool (NES).The hero of this game is a mummy named Chuck, who has two heads: one is in the stomach.
Emulator Used: Gens 10a
Frame Count: 72294
Re-record count : 14402

Game objectives

  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes no damage
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Genre: Platform

Comments

The skull-head of Chuck is great for attack distant enemies and to create endless funny possibilities. Glide in frame by frame is almost a fligt.
Abusing Errors: I flew over the screen in some stages and I skipped the bosses of the stage 2-3, 3-3 and 6-3.
Auto Scrolling stages: I Killed all enemies and destroyed all statues.

Thanks to:

Cardboard for some tricks and shortcuts.

I love this game, and this run was fantastic. 7/7 all the way.

Very nice! I have waited for a proper run and it's finally here. Boss fights are very well done and some upper exits were surprising. But you could give some credit to Cardboard for some of his tricks, isn't that the custom here? And the exits after bosses can be done 28 frames faster if you don't lean to edge of the screen before it starts scrolling. Gather some speed before that. I give my vote when you have fixed this.

Awesome run. I'll give it 8.5/8. As maTO suggests you can build up some speeds between the bosses, and the exits, so this run is sad enough not optimal. Yet I still find this very entertaining. Looking forward to an updated version.

This is better but still suboptimal. It is about 400 frames slower than my no longer secret WIP halfway through level 5 - 3. I just started an improvement to that WIP, and I am 92 frames ahead of it after level 1 - 3. That being said, your run contains a handful of great strategies which I shall implement in my run, and I feel that it looks good enough to be publishable, seeing how I most likely will take a long time to finish this run.

Maby you should talk to wwmarx and see if he knows any more tricks? I recon that each and every time I've made a TAS, I've found more things along the way that could have been implanted, but the lack of motivation some times keeps you from doing so. Maby you could make a TAS together, or at least sync what you know about this game?

My biggest problem here is not speaking English (only via google translator). But I think you will understand. Cardboard, that your video I had not seen yet. His solution to 3-5 is much better than mine. A tip :Use (up buttom) to increase the jump on the arrows (>). I believe it is possible to improve the use of potions of speed and orange potion. Perhaps you can also use the more ghosts to cross walls. There is much to improve. But I think I will not make a new video. but I will continue looking for new tricks. everything I think I bring to you.

I appreciate the help. Also, like I said, I think this movie is publishable, especially in terms of entertainment. I shall see if the speed potion is good enough to use on a level on which you just run from left to right, or if that long menu sequence costs too much time. EDIT: I voted yes.

Is it just me, or is there no audio? Cause I can play anything else just fine, but when I play this...nothing but silence.

I think there's a problem with either the encode or the torrent. BitTorrent is labelling it as a corrupted file but it still downloads, albeit very slowly. And yes, there was no sound for me either.

I've been waiting for this run! I've already watched maTO's run, let's see how this goes...

Yeah, definitely seems to be a sound problem as I've none either.

mplayer founds the audio track, but it seems to be silent. I tested with mplayer and xine. No audio on both.

Zucca, the audio stream was merely a second long. Anyway, I uploaded a new torrent file to address this issue.

I'm currently working on an improvement to this run. So far it is 654 frames faster than this run by the end of 3-3. I could see why Cardboard saw this run as sorta sloppy now.
