"Forest Maze I didn't get any Frog coin and open the equip window. I didn't get "FroggieStick". 808 frames slower.(5820)" I think you mean 808 frames saved, otherwise it should be (4204).

I get the feeling this game is nearly impossible to perfect. =P I'll be happy to watch this when an encode is made (Lets just say that my past experience with SNES emulators was... less then pleasant, that, and I don't actually think I have the disk space to actually get past the logo+movie combining stage).

I don't think many RPGs can come even close to perfection.

Nice little changes! It must be tricky to try new level-up strategies, since you gain time in some places and lose time in others. It also felt like this run used more standard, lower-damage attacks to save time at the end of battles, which also made the battles more interesting. Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Yeah, Super Mario RPG is probably the closest RPG game that's close to perfection, well maybe Final Fantasy (NES) I'm not sure. Still, I liked this improvement, yes vote.

I been following along with this game as well as the others. It takes a lot of nerve to pull a 2-hour movie and I respect that. A yes vote for improvement and endurance!

I like the killing off of your allies to save time in early battles. However, I don't get why waiting a long time to hand Cricket Pie to Frogfucious saves time, it seems that sequence is mandatory anyway.

Wow! That was an awesome run. Glad to see such an improvement. It's pretty daring. :) Would be nice to have a LUA script that automatically skips the dialogs though. This is definitely a YES-vote. Thank you!

I agree completely with this statement. I also retract my previous statement, I shall be indeed encoding this game tomorrow after I finish my IT exam in the morning. And if I get the spare time, I will encode the run with the said LUA script if it is posted.

If you do encode it, remember, audio at 32000 Hz.

I don't know about that either, but I presume that handling the Cricket Pie this way is slightly more on the way. A rough analysis of the submission text suggests that early on, at least 1878 frames were saved related to the Cricket Pie: 993 (Mushroom Kingdom 2nd time) + 885 (Tadpole Pond 1st time) + (some time from not getting Froggie Stick in Forest Maze section) However, 1835 frames were lost later on: 930 (Mushroom Kingdom 3rd time) + 905 (Tadpole Pond 2nd time) This still amounts to at least 43 frames saved, though the savings could have also been from other factors. In any case, it doesn't seem like Mallow needs the Froggie stick early on, and in fact he's dead in a number of the fights and/or only is used to power up everyone else first turn. Also, the total number of trips to Tadpole Pond or Mushroom Kingdom hasn't changed, since you need to talk to Frogfucius before Star Hill anyway.

If someone wants to look for more dialog related bytes add them to these. This will skip text boxes, but not forced sequences. (Discussion pauses with no text boxes aren't skipped.) Light Skipping
while true do
text=memory.readbyte(0x7E0210)
	if text<=3 then
	snes9x.speedmode("normal")
	else snes9x.speedmode("turbo")
	end
snes9x.frameadvance()
end
Skips text boxes and overworld map only. Medium Skipping
while true do
text=memory.readbyte(0x7E0210)
mapshopstatus=memory.readbyte(0x7E0009)
shopstatus=memory.readbyte(0x7E0068)
	if (text>=3) or ((mapshopstatus==223) and (shopstatus~=0)) then
	snes9x.speedmode("turbo")
	else snes9x.speedmode("normal")
	end
snes9x.frameadvance()
end
This one skips just about any time that mario's regular sprite isn't on the screen in an area. It doesn't skip Midas River type interactions. Skips Text boxes, overworld map, most cutscenes where mario isn't on screen, and all shop interactions. Heavy Skipping
while true do
text=memory.readbyte(0x7E0210)
mapshop=memory.readbyte(0x7E0009)
	if (text>=3) or (mapshop==223) then
	snes9x.speedmode("turbo")
	else snes9x.speedmode("normal")
	end
snes9x.frameadvance()
end

mklip2001 said is right. And Mallow is very weaker than before run. So, he couldn't much damage to Bowyer if he equiped FroggieStick.

that was fun! I must not have watched one of these in a while because that Mack skip took me by complete surprise. my only complaint is that the constant jumping in the barrel part of midas river and the statue polishing parts got pretty annoying! I understand that's the only thing you can do during the waiting parts, but maybe going with the music or some other pattern would have been more interesting. I liked the way you passed time waiting on moving platforms in bowser's castle at the end, for example. anyway, that's a minor thing, the rest of it was great. I've always been curious - how small does the window get by the end for continuing the multiple jump thing?

The scene where you entered Croco's location gave me the idea to trigger the cutscene and then go back to get invincible and run in there to take Croco out quickly...but you lose the invincibility anyway as soon as you enter the place where Croco runs around.

Sorry if the question is stupid or newbish, but it seems that in some battles you have infinite items... How do you do that???

"Get a freebie" can be manipulated to always get the item back after use.

So, when you use an item then "get a freebie", your item is not used? That's awesome to know! What are the chances to "get a freebie"?
