Introduction

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was released only in Japan in 1993 on the PC Engine with the CD add-on. It was later ported to the SNES as Dracula X.

Improvement

This is a 103 frames improvement over the Published movie
The 2 first stages have been improved by small optimisations there and here, mainly swaping damage from the rocks with regular ennemys, because killing the rocks was faster, also small changes on heart management was introduced because of that strategy change, some lag in 2-2 can be improved eventually, richter any% movie does include some of thoses changes, but have different outcomes in stage2
The whole rest is a basic copy/paste from the actual publication (very lucky on this), some improvements on maria are possible tought, like suggested in the 100% movie

Summary

Classes
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses a game restart sequence
  • Uses a suboptimal character

I haven't been able to watch this yet, but I was curious: why does the 100% run have improvements which aren't here? And roughly how much time would these improvements save?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

I don't really understand why Maria is considered a suboptimal character when she's definitely better than Richter, and the time lost only comes from rescuing her and the following cutscene. But yeah. Downloading, going to watch later!

Because using her results in a slower time. Suboptimal is in terms of completion time, not the speed the character moves. (It could go either way, but completion time is what I decided)
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Did anyone else notice that in the opening movie (right after choosing game start) Richter slams his hand down on the map that showed where you were in the original Castlevania between levels? Also, there seems to be a problem with the dailymotion link. Rather than playing the whole movie, it only plays the first 14 mins of it. I'm assuming that the file is broken up into 2 parts, and the link is supposed to simply play both parts 1 after the other, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. In fact a lot of the movies lately have been doing the same thing.

Wow I didn't notice this. Good observation! Thought I've never played the original Castlevania games...

No, this is normal, since currently there is no way to label the links in the publish page, only the first part is linked. To get to the next part, you would actually need to go to DailyMotion. I have made playlists on all my "parts" encodes so the next part should be linked there. Also if you pay close attention to the top of the screen near the first part, it shows you a brief link to the next part.

Of course. He's thinking "Damn! Due to the power of chaos, this map left by my forefathers is useless!"
