This is an 18 frame improvement over adelikat's previous run of 2697 frames. I continued to use his move list of e4 e5 2 Qh5 Nc6 3 Bc4 Nh6 4 d4 exd4 5 Bxh6 gxh6 6 Qxf7# and the 2D option under the select menu to remove the time that it takes for a piece to move and all battles. This movie uses New PPU to speed up the credits at the beginning of the game.
Also I will not vote "NO" as I did during my last run due to the possibility of it being Published. I am willing to label this as a joint effort between adelikat and myself if he gives me the okay to do so (as a way to end our Battle Chess feud). I hope adelikat will agree to this.

adelikat: The users have spoken in a resounding unanimous decision that this game is the epitome of bad game choice. I agree, Chess games are highly problematic and this one is a highly problematic port of said high problematic game. I'm rejecting this based on game choice and viewer response.

I'll vote yes if you STOP SUBMITTING BATTLE CHESS RUNS. Also...

Please don't vote No just because you are tired of hearing about a battle chess run. The game is not a hack of anything. The run is very well optimized (I call 18 frames better than adelikat "very well optimized"), and if this was the first time you have seen this run then I'm sure you would call it entertaining.

New PPU doesn't speed up credits. It just allows you to input a couple frames faster (in this case). The other 15 frames were not saved because of PPU.

Nope, still a bad game choice. Just because it's faster doesn't mean it's no longer a bad game choice.

Why don't you co-author a run with adelikat so that I can vote No to both of you at the same time? Seriously dude, I love chess, but the sequence of moves used in this game to obtain the fastest time looks really sloppy to me, and not fit for a TAS movie. When FractalFusion submitted a 3-move mate Chessmaster run, it was rejected because it could be pulled off without much effort in real-time and played in easiest difficult. The run was sent to Gruefood Delight iirc. Your movie looks no better than FractalFusion's run, that's because I can't even see the possibility of it being published. You're free to optimize the games you want with TAS tools, but please don't fill the submission queue with movies you don't think are worth publishing or the members may get annoyed at you.

I didn't realize that you were using new PPU for the purposes of speeding up the intro. Don't use new PPU for TASes. As far as joint...sure... I still think my 18 second movie is better :P

I don't see any difference between setting up the chessboard for a quick one move mate and taking a game, Metroid for example, and giving yourself a password that would give you every item and set you on the final elevator and calling it the best speed run.

I think all this activity is giving Weirwindle too much hope that some version of Battle Chess will get published. Weirwindle, Battle Chess is just not an interesting enough run, despite the number of submissions. I believe this silly competition was to make light of the situation, but your comments seem to make me think you have lots of emotion invested in getting the run published. I'd suggest trying a different game. Sorry.

Because while it should be more accurate in theory, in reality it still has some bugs, ones that may affect a TAS negatively.

But fewer bugs than Old PPU, right? If you know specific ones, then tell us!

I just did another run just like this one with Old PPU. Don't worry, I won't post it on TASvideos. With new PPU enabled my run was 2679 frames (18 faster than adelikat's). With Old PPU enabled my run is 2683 frames (14 frames faster than adelikat's). During credits new PPU saves 3 frames. The last frame is saved due to a lagged frame. My run also came out to be faster because, without knowing, I was able to manipulate the thinking time of the computer chess engine through taking a different path with the cursor (not a faster path). Ex. I went over the left edge of the board to take the knight with the bishop rather than taking a direct line to it.

I'm confused as to why you chose to TAS this game in the first place. I'm sure you have your reasons, but there's so many more interesting games out there for the purposes of an interesting/impressive run. There's almost no difference between a TAS and real-time run of this game in the eyes of the audience, so why this game? What do you think makes it worth the effort? Why should it be on TASVideos?

He's in the paradoxial state of 'I know this is completely fruitless and terrible, but I'm going to keep pushing it and making a joke out of it instead of admitting I'm wrong'. I know too well, I've been in it myself.

It is simple, I see TASvideos as a place to where questions are solved. The questions being "What is the fastest way to complete ___ game?" The solutions being our runs. Though the chance of that question being asked about Battle Chess in minuscule, it doesn't hurt to find a good solution for it just like anything else.

There's a pretty considerable history here of submissions where gameplay is excellent but game choice is boring. This has almost always resulted in rejection. I can appreciate a single attempt to put a game out there, but repeated submissions on your part aren't helping your argument any. If a game is denied, it's best to move on. ("Move on" doesn't mean submitting an unrelated game with a password that breaks the rules here.)
