Hi! It's been quite some time since I've been on the site, since March. Today I bring you some new info regarding the process of the new upcoming TAS for All Tracks on Top Gear 2 using a method previously unknown. The last time a TAS I made was published was in March of last year.
DIS = Difficulty Inventory Swap
this allows end-game upgrades at the start of the game without needing a password for input. This method uses what is already known for "any%".
this also constitutes as a glitch, as it requires a restart before the track loads for Las Vegas in 00:02.300 window.
the difficulty option is what changes the location path. The password provided by the game is hidden from the player at any given time meaning that the password the game gives for this context is only known about with this method.
This can be done from a power-on state.
to sum up confusion regarding this:
1. this password: H#RC ?HJY M<P1 FFYC) #76MM is what the memory holds onto when going for the any% route. as seen in this movie:
2. Difficulty is what interferes with location data. Meaning that if you start on Amateur for USA, you'll end up with the data pertaining to this password: PJ(Y P8W6 R9H? C4C(9 41YDD this password uses $0 at the start of USA.
3. Using this information provided, taking the difficulty into account by swapping data info pertaining to track data, Difficulties past Amateur such as Professional and Championship pertain to data using Auckland.
4. The data stored in memory using the 00:02.300 window. for Las Vegas after doing the soft reset allows the stored data to transfer to Auckland without ever needing a password input.
5. The password for data transfer is: 8QRB #YM3 <1<C T?Q7N 965LL after the upgrades are purchased, leaving $2000 behind as seen in the USA movie.
This movie is a WIP. This movie stops after inputting Start on Auckland.
The upgrade path seen here is the current most optimal way to save the most number of frames.
