About the run

I chose this game mostly because I haven't TASed anything for a while (for various reasons), and wanted to get back into it with a short and relatively simple run. It is an improvement of 740 frames over ideamagnates currently published run, and the improvement comes almost entirely from better movement optimization.

Thanks to

ideamagnate - Without his run I would probably not have found the glitch to pass through walls.

adelikat: Accepting as an improvement to the published movie.

I like how you are so fast that the screen struggles to keep up. Easy yes vote here.

a little bad design in the game that it allows you to outrun the screen. it would be nice to see what's going on. must have been harder to TAS too because you can't see what you're doing. funny how you can beat this in two minutes, i remember it took me hours to beat 16 years ago. i'd like to see someone make a TAS with grant instead of the raptor, that would be a little longer.

A horrible game made into a great TAS. The glitches were funny. Easy yes vote, and can I try to make a proper encode?

I remember trying to improve ideamagnate's run a while back, but this game desyncs massively and I gave up quickly. Did you find a way to fix this, out of curiosity? Anyway, great run and a yes vote. Swift and with some nice glitches thrown in too. It's good to see that this got done.

Yes, please do :)

I actually didn't get a single desync. Maybe it was fixed in a later revision of Gens.

Yes, that's easy to deduce from relatively high re-record count :D Voted yes.

Hah, I was never able to finish this game as a child. Every little thing causes you damage, the levels are not linear, and therefore it is easy to get lost... Very unforgiving controls. I loved to hate this game. Easy yes vote.

What a horrible game, yes vote. Now have a HD upload to YouTube! I am now encoding it in Standard Definition... it has been a while since I've had an actual video file of mine published and I would actually like to publish this movie, so... yeah. It's has been a while since I have seen something encode at 1fps... man, those HD settings Aktan gave me are so relaxed it isn't funny... actually, it is! This game sucks to get screenshots for by the way... preoptimized, yadayada. Edit: Aktan, not sgrunt... sorry.

12 seconds less of this horrible game must be a good thing.

I really like this game... I liked the other run too, so an improvement must be a good thing.

This wasn't much to see, especially for someone who never played the game. I did play the game, I remember having the game kick my ass. It was enjoyable to see it being dominated by a TAS. Going to have to vote yes for this submission. I also vote yes for flygon's publication photo.

My word, that was a dinosaur on a mission! Perhaps he was looking for whoever stole his feathers? Looks polished, and the length keeps it from getting boring even to the untrained eye - yes vote.

I was going to update the submission text with some more info on the run, but I didn't really figure out anything worthwhile to say. So if there is something specific anyone think is questionable in the run, just ask about it.

I'm highly amused that the YouTube link will always be higher quality than the publishable encode, and that there is nothing that can be done about it without doubling the resolution. Archive.org (19mb; 10mb video, 9mb audio) Dailymotion

I'm in favour of almost any run that can go faster than the camera. Yes vote.

You made a boring run shorter. Thanks, I guess. This run brings up three questions: 1) Does walking in a straight line for a certain amount of time actually increase your walking velocity, or am I just imagining that in the air ducts near the end? 2) Where were all of these armed guards in the movie? 3) Why would kicking a boulder cause a fossil to explode (with fire)? Anyways, Yes for an improvement.

I have to admit. I was confused when I saw the words "cpadolf" & "Genesis" next to each other. That was an ok watch. Nothing too exciting. :)

No, you accelerate to max speed almost instantly. I think what happens is that the game starts to lag less due to not so much happening on screen, and therefore everything seems to go faster.

I actually found the run quite painful to watch because of the raptor's jerky, discontinuous movements. Even though the run is probably quite polished, it still comes out looking sloppy because of the horrendous controls. I'd vote meh if this weren't an improvement.

That game was horrendous, but I kind of liked it. I remember the Raptor run being slightly better than the human one, and couldn't imagine both runs being published in this site (hell, even this one is borderline acceptable). Clear yes vote.
No.

Nice job with this. I knew about one major goof in the old version and I'm glad to see that you managed to improve it by so much.
