One of the key aspects to Tool-assisted Movies is the fact that they could "theoretically" be done on console if given superhuman abilities. Well, TASing just got a little less theoretical

Recreating TAS movies on a real console has been successful on several games now. As such we have created Movies-Verified which lists movies that have been successfully played back with video proof. In addition, these movies are marked with a special icon that they have been console verified. I hope to see this list grow! To get in on the discussion and learn how these things work see The console verification thread

For those of you writing software to interface with our site, there is now an RSS feed generated per movie. These feeds aren't classic "feeds" where info is posted periodically, rather they are XML data conforming to RSS 2 and Media RSS 1.5 specifications which the publications feed is already using. With these feeds, you can get the same kind of info you would normally pull from the publications feed for any published movie, and not just those published recently. The feeds are located at http://tasvideos.org/<number>M.rss, for example: http://tasvideos.org/1000M.rss Enjoy!

TASVideos movie pages now have a Facebook 'Like' button. This Facebook 'Like' button lets a Facebook user instantly share a movie he or she likes to his or her wall, without logging on the website. It also counts the number of Facebook users who like a movie. The button is automatically generated according to the publication's number. Thanks to Mister Epic for this feature.

Due to a recent overhaul of the site permissions system, you may have seen a message on the submissions list erroneously indicating that you needed to be logged in to view submissions. This is not the case, and the problem causing the message to appear has been addressed. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused everyone. Although you don't need to have an account to view submissions, we do encourage those of you that have created accounts to participate in the community at our forums - we always value feedback on our submissions, if not working on [wiki Helping]your own contributions to the community.[/wiki]

As you may have noticed, many of our most recent publications have a secondary video available encoded with a 10-bit build of h.264 in the YUV444 colour space. This provides superior visual quality, which, in many cases, can also be accomplished in a smaller file size. In order to play these videos back, you will need a fairly recent media player; Windows users can use recent builds of LAV Filters or ffdshow-tryout as a codec to play them back, and users on other platforms can use recent media players depending on ffmpeg such as mplayer/mplayer2. In the near future (likely after the release of VLC 2.0, which will support playback of these encodes as well), the site's primary video files will be moving to this format as well, so I encourage all of our viewers to ensure they have up-to-date media players that can play back these videos.

BizHawk is a new multi-platofrm emulator that emulates NES, SMS, GG, SG-1000, PCE, PCE-CD, SGX, and TI-83. It is the new intended emulator for SMS/GG/PCE/PCE-CD/SGX, and arguably NES. (And is the only rerecording emulator for SG-1000 and TI-83) For more information, see the Bizhwk thread

We now have a new preferred emulator for TASing SNES games - lsnes. lsnes emulates an SNES more accurately than Snes9x v1.51, and certainly v1.43 that has been used for the majority of SNES TASs till now. We also have a published TAS using this new emulator.

The site has moved to a new server. The site should now be much faster with much less HTTP 500 errors.
