Mega Man PC - the single worst game of the entire Mega Man series. Designer, programmer, graphics and sound were all produced by one man, Stephen Rozner. Here is a TAS. I'm... sorry?
  • Takes Damage to Save Time
  • Why God, Why?

The Order

Sonic is weak to dyno, volt is weak to sonic, and dyno is weak to volt. However, Volt is the only boss I use another boss weapon against. Also, dyno's stage has ants that can't be killed without sonic's weapon, so Sonic first!

The glitches

Perhaps not a glitch, but bosses have no invulnerability - this means they die, very, very fast to any weapon. I found one useless glitch in Wily's stage. If you die at the same time as a boss- before the camera restores to being focused on Mega Man, the camera focus movement gets saved, and loaded when you come back to life- thus, you end up visually inside a wall, but the game plays as normal - the level graphics are just offset.

FractalFusion: This game is either not emulated correctly, or not speed-throttled correctly, or the AVI dump cannot be produced correctly. The only result is an unwatchable movie. Thus, rejecting.

adelikat: Unrejecting for reconsideration for publication to the Vault

Nach: Being quite familiar with this game both on a 3x86 16 MHz, and on much later CPUs, this game looks like it's emulated properly to me. The speed-throttling is left up to the user to decide. This seems to be a decent TAS. However the game is utter garbage.
Accepting for vault.

BEEP BEEP I AM A TASVIDEOS COMMUNITY MEMBER BEEP BEEP NEW MEGAMAN GAME TAS. MUST VOTE YES. BEEP. I actually played this once as a kid, and it definitely didn't move as quickly as this run does. I'm guessing this time is based on 60FPS or something along those lines? My memory's fuzzy enough that I can't remember how fast it ran (let alone what the specs were on the computer I was playing it on), but I'd guess a 50% slowdown would be more realistic.

reminds me of commander keen somehow... this needs a MUCH slower encode, only then I vote yes (I did it in advance anyway)

Quick testing on DOSBox shows that F1 increases the speed and F2 decreases it. I had completely forgotten about this, probably because DOSBox lets you change the CPU cycles, but now I remember using it all the time to slow the game down on a 486.

I've wanted to see the DOS Mega Man games in their entirety. But it just looks so bad. I ran the MP4 encode at 0.33x in VLC, and it seemed to play at a more normal Mega Man speed. The game is just awful, and while it's nice to see the game, I don't think it's nearly as entertaining as any other Mega Man run. I vote Meh.

GAAH! I missed this. I may end up redoing the run now. If I do, I'll try and find a normal mega man speed.

Really? Sorta seems like an unfair comment. This is the second worst rated run on the Workbench. (Right after a sonic run, amusingly.)

I actually haven't voted yet because I haven't decided on how the speed impacts my decision. I was mostly just poking fun at the "all Megaman/Mario/Metroid/Castlevania runs get published" trend. No offense intended.

It's funny; there was a giant topic about the presently published Super Mario 64 movie, where multiple users complained about the camera angles hurting their eyes. I didn't think it was that bad, but did find it a bit annoying. The reason I mention it is that this particular movie is a hundred times worse in that regard; I had to pause it just 50 seconds in, since my eyes were hurting like crazy from the awful bright graphics and horrible frame-rate combined with the speed. I'm sure it's a fine run technically, but if it gets published, I would give it less than a 1.0 on the entertainment scale. It is "unwatchable" in a very literal way. No vote.

If the game runs faster on faster computer, wouldnt that mean that the game tried to push more frame per second or poll input more time per second? If so, couldnt that be used as a length mesurement and obsoletion benchmark? Also, were these little toxic waste barrel the exact same as the one found in duke nukem?

Pushing the frame might be hard to detect. That game uses hardware scrolling, but: * Standing still might not attempt "scrolling". * The existing counter is useless, because it can increment only by 1 per frame.

Unfortunately, keyboard input usually uses IRQ, not polling, so one can't easily see how often the game would accept it (this is the reason JPC-RR doesn't have lag counter).

To all the No voters/Meh - if this were redone at a forced slower speed, would you vote yes?

On the contrary, I would vote meh if this was slower.

I don't know for certain, but I would be very willing to change my vote, yes. Right now, it's just unwatchable for me in its present form.

No. I mean, I like the run for the simple curiosity factor of wanting to see the DOS Mega Man games, but the game looks bad, sounds bad, and honestly isn't all that entertaining to watch no matter the speed.

I vote yes because this TAS doesn't hold back. It shows extremely inhuman skill. Try doing that in realtime! Nobody could handle that speed!

I rewatched it at 25% speed. That seems to be more accurate to what I remember, though I'm not certain the sound should be that slow. Ehh, it's mediocre at best.

Just run right. You don't even have to bother with the dog. Sure you'll take damage, but you'll reach the gate before dying.

I laughed pretty hard because of how bad this game is and because of the speed. The speed of the run was half of the reason that I was able to enjoy this as much as I did, if it was slowed down, if i had the ability to vote, it'd get a meh out of me. I believe people would find humor out of the unrealistic speed rather than a properly emulated one, and it'd be easier to watch for those with low tolerance to poor games such as this.

Wow that game is bad, I only managed to watch half the run or so. On the other hand, the run itself is very good. I have no idea which way to vote...

Would probably vote yes if this were well emulated, that is to say if it were emulated in a way that resembled it being played on contemporary hardware.

Would have voted yes if it went at a reasonable speed. It's quite an amazing game, considering that it's basically been made by a one-man team.

Voted meh. The super speed was the only thing entertaining about it and that's because it's not played at the speed it's intended. It also gets old pretty fast.
