Which is why it should be possible on real PSX, though no one has done it yet.
Was romscout informed?
Both Cosmo and romscout know, but they need to be incredibly inebriated to want to attempt it, which doesn't happen often. (There's a lot of stuff that you need to be a PhD in computer science (or sockfolder) to make sense of and if you forget to do it the setup doesn't work, it's not something you can just open up and do without thinking) EDIT: But if you want to try it yourself, here are sockfolder's notes: http://pastebin.com/27aW26MX

:) This hack would get a bunch of nos, if submitted, even a no from myself. There're some topics about ROM hacks: 1, 2, 3. I prefer an unique topic for all hacks, except maybe Super Demo World and The Second Reality Project 2.

Apologies if this is duplicating an earlier question, but: When using the Chuck-Eat glitch to get a cloud, does the game always jump to Open Bus allowing for ACE? If so, are real-time speedrunners simply executing NOPs while the game returns to 'normal' mode? And would blindly spamming buttons during the "obtain cloud" time period most likely cause a bizarre crash?

Masterjun may be better suited to answer, but I think I can. The glitch does always jump to open bus. They're not necessarily executing NOPs, they just luckily get a return to normal code. The game's execution won't always reach controller registers, so no, spamming buttons won't necessarily affect anything.

^Thanks! Could it reasonably be said that a run banning ACE would necessarily also have to ban execution reaching Open Bus to avoid arbitrary goal statements?

It really boils down to whether you are executing instructions whose contents are under the player's control or not. Neither implies the other.

What will happen if you kill a reznor and then put the key in the keyhole? Which exit do you get?

If I remember correctly, jumping back from open bus to normal gameplay without the game crashing requires ACE in the first place. It's a very loose and technical form of ACE that's simple enough to be done by console runners, but it's still ACE since it's the player's instruction that causes the game to continue running normally.

This might sound like a stupid question but how do I pass 3 note blocks in a row without bouncing ? If I go too fast the 3d one stop me. If I go too slow I bounce off the 2d one. ?

Actually I found the answer. If you've been small all along you can't pass it without bouncing. But for some reason if you've been big and took damage earlier to be small again you can pass it without bouncing. I don't know why it works this way but it does. I was trying to not take a mushroom to save time but doesn't seem to be possible.

I think I should mention here that stunning a Para-Bomb also spawns a Reznor. But I don't think it can be useful in the 96-exit, since Yoshi spawns in slot 7 in every level that has a Para-Bomb. You can enter in a pipe to change Yoshi's slot, but that may take too long.

Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

They used the turn block to force Yoshi into the wall. Actually, I was inspired in this TAS to try it without the turn block or items.

Hello All! Could this be a new glitch? See Select Item and Mario with Star. http://puu.sh/aVri2/3dd3eae075.png Jump in 0:54 Link to video Sorry my bad english
Looks like a previously unseen variant of the already-known Chuck-Eat glitch, where item-swapping a Chuck onto Yoshi's tongue will change the reserve item and/or Mario's powerup status depending on the type of Chuck, Mario's previous powerup status, and previous reserve item. In this case the combination of 3 factors happened to lead to invincible Mario + Bullet Bill in reserve. I have to say I've never seen an enemy in the reserve box before on vanilla SMW, so that was interesting. Not as useful as a cloud or goal sphere though.

I've been thinking. I recall a post saying that the ACE glitches are possible on the super mario world + all stars rom. For a playaround, how about utilizing ACE so that the final door to bowser leads to a bowser fight of one of the other games? That seems like something that would not only throw people off, but also be different from other ACE TASes. Edit: Or lead to Wart.

Question is, would the SMW version of Mario even be compatible with the other games?
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Now we just need someone to make a playaround.
