A speed TASing competition (think like speed chess) is being organized by dwangoAC. See this forum topic for more info.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

TASVideos and TASing will be demonstrated this year at AGDQ 2015. Offering prizes will increase viewership of the TASVideos block, and serve to further promote TASing as well as raise money for charity. dwangoAC is coordinating the effort and representing TASVideos at AGDQ 2015, and needs your help putting together these raffle prizes. Video game and/or TASing related donations and ideas are welcome.

A new version of our most advanced and feature heavy SNES and Gameboy emulator - lsnes has been released, and can be downloaded from the lsnes wiki page. This new version introduces for the first time ever proper Super Gameboy emulation with rerecording. This is the same emulator that was used to create the Pokémon Red plays Twitch run shown at AGDQ 2015 earlier this month. This new version is also our first emulator to make use of the recently released Lua 5.3, and includes way more Lua functions than any other emulator. A full list of new features and changes can be found in the lsnes rr2 discussion thread. For those of you not familiar with lsnes, it emulates the following platforms: *Super Nintendo *Gameboy *Super Gameboy *Gameboy Color *Gameboy Color in Gameboy Advance mode

A normal TAS is like a grand master in an untimed chess match playing perfectly. A speed TAS is like the same grand master playing speed chess slightly less perfectly. At the end of the SGDQ 2015 TASBot block on Saturday Aug. 1 an NES game and a ~4 hour time limit will be announced during which participants will be able to submit a BizHawk or FCEUX movie file, with the winning submission played back directly following Super Metroid. More details can be found in the competition announcement.

The SGDQ 2015 speed TAS competition is over! The game choice made by dwangoAC was Streemerz in "Streeeeemerz Mode" from creator Arthur 'Mr. Podunkian' Lee and thefox who ported it to the NES (used with permission). Over 150 submissions completed the game, with Mothrayas coming in as the winner (despite preliminary results that kaizoman had won). Full results are here. A proper submission of the category was made with the help of multiple authors. Overall feedback on the competition has been very positive.

After careful consideration and deliberation, we've decided that all versions of Dolphin prior to 4.0-3595 are to be considered deprecated. In the future, we will no longer accept runs from these earlier Dolphin versions. If you have already started a project with earlier versions of Dolphin, we will allow these to be completed and submitted without issue. For those planning to create new TASes with Dolphin, please use versions of Dolphin greater than 4.0-3595.
