Since yesterday, even after clearing my browser's cache and cookies, I've been seeing this on the Alden / Popular Games page : Image It appears to be the case of every "Most popular" movies (called by something like [module:displaymovie|id=1330]) , but not the others (called by sth like [module:displaymovie|name=mario]). Furthermore, Alden/PopularGames is the only page where I can see this strange bug.

Well, the only time that would make the page "heavy" is if one decides to watch all the videos. The embeds themselves are relatively light until you push the play button and begin streaming a video. It's also easy to unload the weight of several videos streaming (or even completely loaded) on a page: refresh.
Yeah, you're right. So, I'll just let these YT modules on the page.

If you would like to keep at it, I think it ought to be moved here: http://tasvideos.org/Movies/GruefoodDelight.html At the same time it could be stripped of anything related to me;
Agreed. Moreover, I will maybe try my hand at encoding these delights next month. Hopefully, most of them are short enough to be uploading in a single part on YouTube or Dailymotion. Note that I'm not really good at writing description, so don't rely on me to add movies to the Gruefood Delight page ;)

I've changed the layout of the Gruefood Delight page (the new layout is based on Alden's ideas). But after this change was done, I saw this post, which stated that too many YouTube module should be avoided on a page (sigh, I should have thought about it before). On the other hand, YouTube has added an new option, enabling you to stop the downloading of a given video (just right-click on a video to make it appear). But will everybody think about that option ? So, what guys do you think ? Should the YouTube module be replaced by a screenshot of the run (a lot of them have still to be taken though) ? Anyway, a few more suggestions : - MUGG's GB Super Mario Land "walkathon" in 15:00.23 - FractalFusion's NES The Chessmaster in 00:07.12 - MUGG's GB Crayon Shin-Chan 4 in 07:10.83

The first levels were quite boring, but the last ones kept me interested. The run seemed overall really optimized. Yes vote

This is a new list, that puts together the different suggestions listed above :
    * Game: Bad game choice
    * Unapproved hack: Only for movies submitted before September 2009
    * Version: Bad game version choice
          o Run should be done on another console
          o Run should use another version of game

    * Optimization:
          o Bad optimization
          o Fails to beat all known records
    * Entertainment: Fails to entertain, even with opportunities to do so

    * Incomplete: The movie fails to beat the game
    * Goal:
          o Bad goal choice
          o Does not respect restrictions imposed by its own goal
          o Bad difficulty
          o Other kind of bad game settings

    * Emulation: Bad game emulation
          o Too severe graphical/audio glitches
          o Exploits emulation bugs
          o Uses a suboptimal emulator (like Famtasia instead of FCEU, or an old revision of an emulator)
          o Doesn't seem to sync for others
    * Mode: Bad mode / hardware settings
          o Not choosing optimal GBx hardware for GBx game
          o Forcing PAL game to NTSC mode
          o The movie starts from a saved state or SRAM
          o Other kind of bad hardware settings

    * Unauthorized:
          o Unauthorized submission
          o Plagiarized run
    * Troll: Being troll submission or something comparable listed as rejection reason
    * Joke:
           o Intended to be a joke submission
           o Submitted on April Fools day.
    * Other: Other reasons
EDIT : Update the categories

This list is a great opportunity to finally have an overview of rejected submissions.

I agree that "bad mode" and "bad settings" should be combined.
I think these categories should not be combined, as game settings and emulation settings are not exactly the same. Anyway, having filled myself the list a bit, I agree with Ilari's choice of categories (we'll see next April if there is a need to add an "April fool" categorie or something ;) )
Derakon wrote:
Should redundant submissions (accidentally submitting the same movie twice) show up on this page?
I think they should only appear once. Actually, in case of redundant submissions, the author almost always cancel one on his own. This also raises a question : should we list (some of the) cancelled submissions too ? Indeed, not a few cancelled submissions were in fact submissions that were to-be-rejected ; and the reasons they've been cancelled may be interesting too.

I have an idea of a sub section with rejected runs of games that currently don't have a published TAS and the run was rejected for technical reasons, but the game itself seems to be publishable material. A good example is Tailz's Cabal run. This list could serve as an additional "List of ideas" for someone who's looking for a new game to TAS.
This boils down to think about how the list should be organized (when it will be more mature of course). In alphabetical order ? Or should we arrange the list by categories ? This would help to put in place Randil's idea, but a problem appears when two categories (like Game/Optimization) apply to one submission.

Thanks BadPotato ! Hopefully, the 9th savestate begins at a really early frame (1500 or so). I was finally able to watch the first battle ;) but the movie desynchs at the first reset (around frame 76,000), same as nfq. I think there are a few frames too many just after this reset (I will test this if time gives me time). It would be great if could provide a savestate that begins at around frame 80,000 (as all the other savestates are from the second half).

Great ! I think this game has a high TASing potential. Could you share the vbm please ? BTW, did you actually reach 200 % ? Well, I have to admit I never managed to reach such a percentage.

it desyncs at the beginning after deleting felix name. it inputs B too many times.
Same here, using the default settings of the svn 153. In fact, the movie wasn't even able to delete Felix's name. Weird. Thus, I removed the 49th first frames, like you did (I actually removed frames in which you had already begin to enter inputs, bizarre). But it kept desynching around frame 21,600, during the very first battle. Indeed, in this fight, you cure yourself with an herb during the first round, and then you attack the ennemy only once, thus you can't finish the battle. This herb at the first round seems unexpected, so I guess this isn't the pattern you actually chose and the movie just desynched on the first round. Am I wrong ? I'm actually quite interested in seing a Golden Sun run (1 or 2 whatever). Is there anybody still working on the route for GS1 ?

Voting Meh, mainly for the reasons Sgrunt stated. I don't think this is the right material for this site. Anyway, you did your best, I was quite entertained overall - even if I used to play each mini-games a lot - and I liked seeing this game pushed to its limits. Your TAS is definitely funnier than Ryuto's one. But most mini-games were too repetitive and predictable, especially those using only the A button. By the way, is manipulating which set of mini-games you will challenged in each categorie possible ? (indeed, so as to reach the boss, one has to beat fewer mini-games (10, 15, 20, or 25) than the categorie actually offers). It could be interesting, entertainmently speaking, because it could let you avoid repetitive mini-games.

I want to pledge a donation to TASvideos of $100 USD if I am chosen as the winner. I also will match any donations made between now and May 1st from other members (up to $100 USD), whether I win this contest or not. This means that we could raise up to $300 USD together for TASvideos in the next few weeks!
Well, I'll try to fully support your video. You seem to have some serious rivals, though. Good luck !

Actually, I hadn't check if the problem was still there before posting, sorry. With the new Subs-List page, this issue doesn't seem to occur anymore, but as it was very random with the old Subs-List, I couldn't tell for sure. One little thing, though : sorting any column reloads the page, and it's not very convenient on the "Movie rating list", because after reloading the selected tab becomes "Summary".

I felt sometimes a bit lost while watching this run, but I admit I had fun watching it. It seems a good and fresh addition to the site. And I agree with DarkKobold, a 2-player run would IMO offer more opportunities.

I just noticed that on the all submissions page, if you try to list the submissions in any other way (i.e. click on any of the arrows) you just get redirected the front page instead of sorting the list accordingly. I have not been able to replicate this in a EDIT: It seems to work now whenever I try to list the submissions in any other way, so this might have been something I did wrong, and probably isn't anything to worry about.
It happens to me sometimes, and not only on the all submissions page, but also on the "normal" submissions page.
