Yeah, the ingame counter doesn't count during lag frames. Lag constitutes mostly room transitions (a handful of frames every time the screen fades in/out), and anime cutscenes, which play at 24FPS and thereby slow the game timer down to 2/5th for the cutscene's duration. Other than that, it runs constantly. EDIT: Also, going to announce here that me and Rolanmen1 are starting on a new Mega Man ZX TAS. The old run could use some more polish, and make use of some improvements like the small route change to B-3 and using Vent instead of Aile (to save on dialogue/cutscene time).

This is false. The length of a TAS, for comparison purposes, is judged by the time required to get the game in a "completed" state. For example, Super Mario Bros. is judged by the time it takes to hit the axe. If a TAS takes longer to hit the axe, even if it has a shorter input time, a judge will reject it.

Hmm, good point actually. I'm not sure if we tested that at the time, or if it's just an oversight on our part. It may well be the latter, as looking at the maps, it does seem faster.

I'm not sure. I was intending to test out how the game works in that respect. Either way, if it has a way of ending/losing/resetting, then this run also fails to properly end the game, much like how Virtual Pinball was rejected. Oh, and also, the link to the glitch finder leads to a video that reaches maximum score over 15 minutes faster than this run does. (7:02 vs 22:53 is quite a big difference.) How to end movie input is up to the author of course, but either way, this run is way behind realtime records. EDIT: The same run also dies and the game resets shortly after reaching maximum score.

The Vault doesn't allow separate categories for difficulty. Also, for Vault, hardest difficulty is still preferred.

Yeah, now that feos mentions it, the whole "Recommended for newcomers" thing seems kinda redundant, and the Newcomer Corner is not really as visible as it should be. We should just ax the icon and category altogether.

[00:05:06] <Zeupar> that's why I have been saying for a while that the best thing to do about it is make a poll Making a poll because Zeupar wants me to. We think the Recommended icon needs replacing, as it is currently animated and quite distracting. Zeupar wants to use the SMW version in order to follow a consistent theme with the SMW Star and Moon icons. I disagree because it is color-wise and detail-wise stylistically different from those (and other) icons. Options:
  • Current:
  • Current still #1:
  • Current still #2:
  • Zeupar:
  • Mothrayas #1:
  • Mothrayas #2: (my personal pick)
  • Something else (post your own suggestions here)

Obviously it's only a question if we keep the one we already have or use the beautiful star that will probably win because the original SMW sprite or the smiling one will never win. (Poll clarification because I know that otherwise, some people out there will fail to get it such as scrimpy)

The exact framerate of Atari 2600 is 59.9227510135505. That number is used for timing by the site, instead of simply 60. Calculating with that number leads to a time of 00:53.65.

AngerFist, we have a ratio of stars to maintain. (I think it's supposed to be that the amount of Stars should be roughly 10% of the amount of Moons). If we far exceed that ratio, then it cheapens the value of the stars. What's the value of a star if we just hand them out at everything we like? That is why we are conservative with with handing out stars, and remove some in order to add some. For the star tier we want just the best runs, not the best and second best runs. Keeping the exclusivity of stars in mind, we generally do not want the starred runs to overlap - we want the collection of starred runs to be as diverse as possible. If out of ~70 stars we have a dozen Mega Man runs, with most of them quite similar in some ways, then it decreases the diversity of the star list and can make it more boring to viewers, especially if they don't even like Mega Man. So we have to make sure not to overexpose any one franchise in the star tier. For the record, some statistics: As of right now, we have 771 moons and 74 stars. Of those 74 stars, we have 8 Mega Man runs: MM1, MM2, MM5, MM8, MMX4 Zero, MM&B 100CDs, MMX1&X2&X3 300% and MMX2.
