There's been a few points voiced in the GB Tennis submission thread, that sound very true to feelings of some people. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=400464#400464 A Demo tier would sound best as a tier for research and development achievements. Right? So, R&D being a direction, a movie aiming there must have 2 critical qualities: optimality and impressiveness. Right? Now a question. Is a Fool's Mate in Chess impressive, even if it's optimal? Developing a bot that can TAS something is impressive obviously, or making a research on how to complete some absurdly random game, or whatever. But what about the easiest/fastest way to beat any chess party? If it doesn't look impressive, it can not be added to such a Demo tier. If we still want it there, we should change the "impressiveness" criterion. Sure, if tricking a simple AI into a Fool's Mate is not impressive, tricking some sophisticated one into it may be, but that would mean we'd need to choose games that fit into Demo tier. Which makes it not too reachable for some board games probably. Please guys let's think over this paradox carefully.

Or rename it in the script to force using the normal hd logo instead of nds hd logo. The problem is again that resolution won't fit perfectly and your sprite will be stretched.

I can't say I'd want to watch the whole thing at normal speed, but I'm glad it exists. (It helps if you're a tennis game fan and have played this one.) If an existing rule that prevents this from being accepted, then I suggest we create a tier for sports and board games. Research is a higher priority for me than entertainment; being entertained is fine, but I'm more interested in TAS as a form of truth-seeking.
Man this post gives us all the reason to add a Demo tier. RESEARCH! And development. If one develops a script like Jetpack Mario, I'd be all for publishing a movie that demonstrates it (if it's done optimally o course). If someone develops a bot that records some movie, we'd have a reason to showcase it. If someone puts research into figuring out how to best manipulate CPU's actions in a board game, there'd be a place for it. But the question should become "was research/development (put into this otherwise unfitting movie) impressive?" And that way tiers would be absolutely clear: speed-oriented, entertainment-oriented, research/development-oriented.

I HAVE A SOLUTION! If Aqfaq does the runs himself, he will get those points! Well, he won't be able to lose them though, so it's not like he's selling the runs to himself. Well, I dunno if no one losing the score is okay for him...

Read the first line of your screenshot to find out what file name it expects.

It's because you don't have the damn logo.

Have you moved tvcman out?

Yes. And seeing how you were trying to upload to TVC whatever mess you ended up encoding, I think for safety you need to move tvcman.exe out of TAS Encoding Package/programs folder until your encode is proper, so that it doesn't send it to TVC each time.

Finally. You seem to be lacking the proper logo for NDS. Also, you don't seem to preview your script in VirtualDub with hd parameter set to true.

Send to pastebin the context of that error you posted. Or simply make a screenshot.

That looks quite amazing! The general workflow for Dolphin is as follows:
  • Get an avsync build that syncs and has all the features needed for the submission, unless it's done on a revision where it's all already included.
  • Dump with a lossless codec, at highest anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering settings possible, at highest internal resolution your monitor allows.
  • natt's vfr to cfr converter is then applied to video, Ilari's GapFix is applied to audio, and target framerate is calculated depending on the game.
  • For downloadable SDs, downscale it to 640x480 (if the source is 4:3) or 640x360 (for 16:9) using LanczosResize. It has been noted that when dumping at 2x or 4x, downscaling looks better when Bilinear is used (someone should confirm this). Also, SD may look better when dumping it at native res at all, like it would not have redundant blur in it.
  • For youtuber, you either upscale by 2, or don't upscale at all, if the dump's resolution is already high enough (like 1440p and higher). Method is not known for sure, it might be either PointResize, or LanczosResize. Someone should clarify this.
  • Once you've done configuring the above with your avisynth script, you encode it using commands from my TASEncodingPackage, or even using the package itself, since it has quite some important tweaks. The commands in it are the most up-to-date and proper, unless your case is exceptional.
  • Then you upload to TVC and Archive if it's a publication, or wherever else you wish otherwise.
For anything you don't know already, request links and I'll post them. Looking at your skills, I think you could very well encode for publications.

Sounds cool! How did you encode it? For workbench runs, it doesn't matter whether you use 60fps or not, since you host those encodes on your own channel. But I'm going to make an official announcement about moving to 60fps for publication encodes as well.

Hi. It all depends on what your connection allows you to do. The point of encoders is to send their encodes to Archive.org and YouTube, and while standard definition downloadables may be not too huge (100MB average?), youtube streams are around 1GB among most of the platforms, but may be quite a bit bigger, up to dozens of GBs. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14327 If you can afford this, there are 2 kinds of roles you might take. There usually are submissions with no encode in the workbench, so the easiest job is to encode them and put somewhere on youtube, or mediafire, or mega. http://tasvideos.org/Guidelines.html#Feedback And finally, if you can do more, there is a job to make official encodes for publications, that is descried by the thread link I gave above.

I mean, before a judge accepts a new movie file format, it needs an approval on admin level. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=394349#394349

There's no precedent for a TAS on tasvideos being accepted that uses TAS tools built into the game, rather than provided by a separate emulator (or Hourglass). For example, the answer to 'Can a Doom TAS using the in-game demo replay feature be submitted here' has always been 'no'.
ORLY? http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#TechnicallySubmittableMovieFormats http://tasvideos.org/Natt/Doom.html As for the general principle, I'd be against the idea of allowing submitting potentially unlimited amount of custom movie formats. Exceptions could be made, but only for exceptional cases :D

I also have a feature request: logging continuation IDs along with start date/size/hashsum. Allows to not rehash something that was interrupted, like a crash, or manual stop. Even when stopping manually, it's not always possible to look up the continuation ID above, because for me, each time it wants to update the line where it tells the uploaded size and stuff, it starts a new line. 8430059520/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:54 8430059520/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:54 8430075904/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:54 8430075904/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:54 8430092288/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:53 8430092288/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:53 8430108672/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:53 8430108672/39565396408 [*****--------------------] 21% 106.666 KB/s 3:07:10:53 So it makes scrolling up to see the continuation ID impossible.

Change the line nds = (last.height == 384) ? false : false to nds = (last.height == 384) ? true : false and preview with hd = true.

I forgot to mention: it's for files smaller than 50MB and they will be removed in a few days. It's the easiest was to share something small fast though.
