I think there was a rule last year where multi-game TASes are not elegible for the award.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I think there was a rule last year where multi-game TASes are not elegible for the award.
That was for the First Edition award, where the base game(s) already had TASes of their own.
There is no reason to disqualify a multi-game TAS from NES TAS or other TAS categories they qualify for. In fact, a few of them have wonawards in the past.

I second this nomination.
Even if one, for some reason, found the obsolete TAS more entertaining than the new one, this shouldn't be the only factor to be considered. Saving 2 frame rules in a game as contested as SMB is by itself a big enough of a technical achievement that should make the new run the SMB nomination.
I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I am not accepting debate here on whether one movie is more worthy of a nomination than another movie. Both movies have been nominated already, you can vote for the movie you prefer when the voting phase starts.
This is not the place for another argument between these movies. Further posts of that nature will be moved out or deleted.

Nomination rules:
If you think someone has made a nomination which is truly undeserving, please point it out so there can be a proper discussion.

That's a fair point, it's in the rules,
But you did conveniently leave out the last part:
If you think someone has made a nomination which is truly undeserving, please point it out so there can be a proper discussion. However, arguments which are a matter of opinion and personal taste are uncalled for.
If you think the movie is undeserving, that's fair. But let's keep the tone positive here.
Bad:
"How can anyone not like my movie better!!"
Better:
"I think x was nominated in bad taste, the current movie is faster and has a lot of hard work put into maximizing entertainment"
Best:
Just let it go, they are both nominated, and let people choose. Remember you can't please everyone, and the majority of people like the published movie more than the obsoleted one. Your hard work has been appreciated.
I did. Even though my subjective opinion as a SMB TASer doesn't count, I did say "Objectively speaking, our TAS follows every guidelines on how to be entertaining." in my deleted post. By the way, purely saying that "MrWint's movie is more entertaining" is also a matter of opinion. I'd like to hear those people saying exactly where and what MrWint did that makes his movie more entertaining, so there can be a proper discussion as the rule says.

Sorry about the tone. I guess I'm just bad at English expression. I'm not saying MrWint's run is bad, but my point is that I certainly don't feel that our hard work has been appreciated. It's so not appreciated that more people actually nominated an obsoleted TAS than the current TAS (I wonder if that's new).

I don't think we will get anywhere discussing which movie is more entertaining, as people can always claim they have their "minimalist entertainment perspective" which everyone suddenly adopted this year. I do think whoever we can establish that the fact 2 frame rules were saved is a HUGE and objective factor that must be thoroughly considered. We are not simply voting for the most entertaining NES run of 2018, and each frame rule saved is a piece of history in SMB TASing.

Ah I see now. Then I’m also for nominating that tas too.
