A TAS I made to collect as few score points as possible in Super Mario Advance.
The previous lowest high score was set by **KawaiiDawn** back in 2020, with a score of 19120. Two years ago, I found a way to improve it to 19040, and only now I finally turned it into a real TAS.
Also, this is my first ever TAS, so don't judge too harshly.
Frame Count: 30234 Rerecord Count: 1075

Darkman425: Claiming for judging.
Darkman425: Input file replaced with a .bk2 input that truncates 11619 frames of blank input at the end to better reflect the actual TAS time.
Darkman425: Branch changed to specify Luigi only for reasons explained below.
Hello Arrekkussu1325 and KawaiiDawn, and welcome to TASVideos!
I like the idea of a minimum score challenge since this adds some interesting restrictions on shortcuts that aren't available anymore due to extra score. Restricting it to Luigi may or may not have been a conscious choice but it does add an interesting bit of complications since Luigi moves and grabs items slower than Toad, leading to different strats. For a first pass, this isn't too bad of an effort!
However, there's a lot of optimization issues found throughout. When compared to [2482] GBA Super Mario Advance by mtvf1 & got4n in 07:00.58 there's a lot of general momentum preservation, glitches, and other various techniques that weren't used. There's even comparable strats from the publication that can be directly applied since there's sections in it that use Luigi and also score as minimal points as possible. If you do tackle this challenge again, I highly recommend checking out the authors' notes for their run to learn about techniques you can apply yourself as well as checking out the TASVideos Wiki page about common tricks. Applying the knowledge found there and potentially other games on the site will help you make a more optimized submission in the future.

Hi, I updated the name of the file and the frame count, and would like to update the current TAS (.tasproj). ID: #639172563492872620 https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/639172563492872620 (i hope it's the right way to do it)

Just saw the rejection. I’ll optimize it later.

About 7 minutes and 43.87 seconds. Is that a better time (it is, but is it approvable)?

I watched the any% TAS, but I couldn't replicate some of the moves (especially in 7-1). The score is the same, by the way. Also, if I'll want to submit the next version, do I make a brand new submission or update this one (probably the former)?

Please do not be in a rush to submit. You just somehow saved 43 seconds in one day?? These things often take weeks of work to make a quality run, and Mario games tend to undergo much more scrutiny due to their popularity. And yes, when you are sure it’s good you would make a new submission.

Honestly, I just haven't seen the any% run and made the first run "blindly". It's honestly pretty easy for me to TAS stuff, especially for such relatively short run (it takes like an hour to TAS the game for me). Anyways, I'll optimize it further anyways. I'll to get to sub-7:25.

Well, it's not about how easy it is. You have to keep optimizing until you no longer can save time. This requires using tools like frame advance and save states. The process is slow and one hour really isn't enough even for an easy short game. If you spend only one hour then you really didn't research further for the most optimal inputs to finish the game the fastest.

Just an update. The current new time is 7:39.31. I'm not sure if I can optimize it further.
