Damn, good to know you're still interested in TASing. It was certainly an unexpected comeback. o_0

We've reached the golden age of TASing in the past 24 hours. I've watched up 40k frames and thoroughly enjoyed it so far:)

I apologize if this post seems rude and looks like I'm attacking you personally. I don't intend to do either. I'm sorry, after being involved with the SMW runners for onwards of about 2 years now, I have probably gotten an inherent bias for exceedingly beautiful SMW runs. This run is honestly pretty bad. Most of the glitches are known, and some of the unknown ones are just variations of known ones. The yoshi flight is definitely not new, IIRC, it's present in a lot of the newer SMW/SDW runs. Some glitches were novel like wall jumping in YI3, and yoshi's nose being turned into a key (like jimsfriend's springboard glitch). The flying through stairs in C#2 is painful, why did you have to die? And th trick really isn't that impressive, andrewg/skamastag/jimsfriend all have done this on console, and andrewg is considering doing this in a new version of his 11 exit run for SDA. It looks like you haven't seen a single SDW/SMW run since about 2 years ago. A good amount of these tricks are present in the current runs, and the runs beat the game fast. I'm not sure if the game is not a good game to have a playaround in, or if your game-play was subpar, but I did not enjoy this at all. Voting a resounding NO, and I hope you will watch the current SMW runs if you haven't already.

Don't listen to DK64. He hates fun. Seriously, there were several points in this movie that had me laughing out loud, and wondering how he just did that. Even the glitches that I already knew about were used in inventive new ways, although the block duplication glitch is arguably used too much. Some of the deaths were also pretty surprising. Most notably in Iggy Koopa's castle where mario simply jumps through the floor. I also really liked the emphasis on unorthodox solutions to levels and puzzles. There were some boring parts, I must admit, but not nearly enough to pull this into "no", or even "meh" territory, for me.

I voted meh. It had a lot of really funny parts that I laughed at, and even went "NEAT!" a couple times. I loved bouncing off the trampoline in the air to get the three up. I also liked how you got a ton of coins by getting a shell between two glitched coin boxes. But at the flying with yoshi bit, I said out loud "yeah we know" It was fun, but I don't think it deserves a yes to be published. Certainly an awesome forum exclusive though.

This was a fun watch. I don't know what will happen to it, but it was funny at parts and made me smile.

Well, after seeing the run, I can say some of its parts were surprising, but overall most of the tricks were either outdated or not interesting enough for me (granted that I'm not an SMW fan at all). As such, it doesn't outweigh SMW small-only run in terms of enjoyment in my book, and doesn't try to be fast either, so I'll be voting meh. That being said, I'm curious as to when you actually started working on this run. Judging by the tricks used, I guess it's mid/late 2006?

Preface: I know nothing about SMW, other than what I've seen on this site. I have never played it, and am not up on any of the tricks, glitches, or other nuances of this game. That being said, I enjoyed watching it, and vote yes. However, I see this as a relative of the RCR run, and fully anticipate a new "entertainment" based category or subsection added to the front page before either actually get accepted. I also anticipate another 8 pages of discussion on how hard it is to judge entertainment, which will ultimately lead to this sitting at the bottom of the queue because no one wants to take the risk and either accept or reject it. Sooo.... yes.

There's a few interesting parts, but there's very very little here that isn't displayed in one of the published SMW or SDW runs in a much more impressive manner.

There was some good stuff, but there could have been a lot more. Also there were many times where it was slow/sloppy for no real reason. Voted no.

This run suffers from an identity crisis. It has no clear objective other than 'be entertaining', which in my opinion is a subordinate goal of essentially every published run on the site - but not the main (or only) goal. In between the tricks are segments that feel as though not much effort or thought was put into them, giving the run a character of being a strung-out series of glitches which might be suitable for publication as a series of clips on Youtube, but not on this site. In case it's not clear by now, this merits a fairly vehement No vote from me.

First, nice (and surprising!) to see Genisto on the submissions page again. Welcome back! As for the run. Erm. Lots of it was great fun, especially early on. I laughed. Or giggled embarrassingly, at least. Parts of it where just run of the mill SMW, which was less fun but still fairly watchable. On the whole I liked it, appreciate the effort involved and your posting it. I am voting yes to the question as stated. Do I think it should be published? Probably not. There's not enough tomfoolery to fill an entire hour, which in my opinion is really too long for a trick run in the first place. I also dislike that it's unclear what is required to obsolete this run and obsoleteability is a quality I think is highly desirable in published TASes. The few trick movies currently published are typically in genres where the metric for determining an improvement is considerably more straight-forward and it's always easier to envision what a later version should improve on or change for those movies than it is here.

Okay, I'll admit that I've seen most of these tricks done elsewhere, but there's a lot more entertaining to be done when you're not racing against the clock. I never even knew there was another giant bone-crushing pillar waiting outside the boss room for you in castle #1. Learning new things about a game I've spent 16 years (ugh, is it really that old?) playing the proverbial hell out of is truly a joyous delight. Was I entertained? Verily. I don't remember ever laughing so much at a tool-assisted run in the years I've been visiting this site. I'll give it a yes vote for that right there, inevitably for the demo category. It's nice to see something out of the ordinary every once in a while.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

It's possible to do a chalenge here: show all the bugs you know, then finish the run fast as possible. If someone find a new bug or show all the same bugs, but more interesting to see, he can obsolete the preview run. I will make a better version later without useless parts shown in this one. Some parts as the two first death, where Mario carries a switch from the other side of the fence, getting the maximum score in the first level in the forest.

Very nice. The "heyhole activates in the wrong place" in Donut Plains 1 was great. The whole bit with the ON/OFF switches in Donut Plains 3 was awesome. Awesome glitches/things that I laughed at also occur in: - Donut Plains 4 - Morton's Castle - The battle with Morton - Vanilla Dome 1 - Vanilla Secret 2 - The battle with Reznor in Vanilla Fortress - The coin blocks and 1-ups in Butter Bridge 1 - Ludwig battle - The glitched sprites coming out of Wriggler in Forest of Illusion 1 - Throwing the Bob-omb into the spring in Forest of Illusion 3, and then using it in the "bonus" area to glitch 1-ups, then getting killed by the spring - Having Yoshi act like Caped Mario's "flying-climb" in Chocolate Island 2, and then ground-slamming that Dino-Torch off the screen while it's doing its fire-breathing - and then the floating spring directly after, and finally using the spring-jump glitch at the end gate - All the glitches near the end of Chocolate Island 3 - Getting stuck between the posts in Chocolate Fortress - Holding the P-Block on Yoshi in Chocolate Island 4 - Getting stuck in the wall after defeating Wendy - Smashing the yellow shell at the very end of Sunken Ghost Ship - Getting squashed and falling offscreen with Yoshi in Valley of Bowser 1 - The floating glitched sprite in the second part of Valley of Bowser 2, and holding two keys - Defeating Bowser partially offscreen. My only gripe is that you didn't do much here - even if you had done mushroom juggling it would have been better. I like the glitches, but have not decided what my vote is yet.

Genisto, I used to have respect for you as a TASer. You put out some great runs back in the day. But I suggest you retire again...go back into hibernation. This piece of shit was awful. While there were indeed some interesting qwirks, the game was far from entertaining or fast. This would be a good video for YouTube, nothing more. Considering your submissions for this and SMB3 (from All-Stars) is the same, I'm not even gonna bother wasting my time watching that. This run was disgusting. I've lost all respect for you. BIG FAT VOTE FOR NO. (P.S. I have no problem with runs that don't aim for speed [ala River City Ransom run] but I would expect it to be very very entertaining. This run is not the case.)

While I did enjoy some parts, the parts I didn't like far outwayed the stuff I did like, such as excessive waiting periods and too many deaths. They were was a few things I didn't know, but pretty much all of the tricks are shown in all the current TASes. I'm gonna have to give this a 'no' vote.

One glitch you've missed that would be good is where the colours screw up on the overworld map. I don't remember what causes it, but it was in a previous run when mario was off-screen. I found it very funny first time I saw it, and its a shame its not in this run.

I like when the bugs and glitches are presented in a speedy manner. In this movie you died several times and there was overall sluggishness, especially in the beginning. There were some surprising things, but not enough to make me want to watch this again, ever. So no.

I'll vote yes for that. At least Genisto is trying something new. What interesting 'new' concept have you attempted for the site lately?
