Here is an improvement of 330 frames (5.5 seconds) to the previous run.
ROM version has been switched to PRG0. Reason: More interesting level names during the ending sequence. This run will still sync on ROM version PRG1, but please encode the run with the ROM version PRG0.
Emulator used: FCEU 0.98.16
adelikat: Like many other TASers, this run is what brought me to TASvideos.org and to the art of TASing. So it means a lot to me that I was able to contribute something to the perfection of it.

Scrolling glitch and speed/entertainment tradeoff stuff

A new method was used in 8-Ship and 8-Tank2 to scroll very far to the right of the screen near the end of the level to enter the pipes about 45 frames faster in each case. This was at the tradeoff of some of the 1-up bouncing in those levels. Please see this alternate run, which is 90 frames slower, but the authors, of course, manage to get 99 lives magnificently™. The warpless run also contains more 1-up bouncing and does not use this glitch. (However, neither of these runs sync on PRG1.)

Awesome run, I loved how you went "though" the window when you got the second whistle, the messed up 1up sound, going through walls, the bowser fight, the sliding glitch weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! A yes vote, and I didn't believe you could improve genisto's version by this much!

Very classy run. Homages here and 'many aspects' there (or at least as many as the warp run could show). Feels like life has been shot back into SMB3. Yes vote.

I don't find the "ROM version has been switched to PRG0. Reason: More interesting level names during the ending sequence." to be a good reason for ROM switching but since it stay sync in PRG1, it's ok for me. And i hope it will be encoded with PRG1 too. Nice run, I was expecting a 2-3 seconds improvement but not 5. Congratulations.

Interesting proposition, considering the only difference is the ending. I'm voting yes for the interesting improvements. I really couldn't care less about 99 lives.

Certainly an excellent run, from an excellent group of TASers. I was a little bummed about the lack of 99 lives, but for the sake of time it is worth it. Yes it up!

Hmm, I think you missed out a corner boost or two, going to check this more clearly tomorrow... Time to sleep and watch the warpless run the first thing in the morning.

I think we probably didn't. We were thorough in checking them. Keep in mind that not every one is profiatble. The amount of subpixel/pixel gain did not always make up for the loss to get in the corner.

I didn't want it to get old. So I tried to use it sparingly. Also thanks to Xkeeper for showing this one in the "Just be funny" thread. Also, thanks for the comments everyone :)

Holy crap! Now every Mario game has been improved in the last couple months! EDIT: Just watched, and it was incredible. My favourite levels were 1-2 and the very last one. The Bowser fight was amazing, and the walk-through-wall to avoid the stairs was great.

Man, those 99 lives will certainly be missed. :( On my part at least.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

heh this is an adequate summary of my opinions of this movie, vote, and other crap nobody cares about in other news, I am amused that I managed to contribute something to a TAS here. Also, this movie is probably one of the most fun to watch in quite some time. Edit: The screenshot sucks. (For a variety of reasons...) This one isn't much better.

Sad that you had to boycott the 99 lives tradition, but the rest is just amazing. I liked the boost on level 1-2 best. This run also completes my list: On my three months here there have been improvements on every TAS-able console Mario game from SMB to SM64, congratulations TASvideos!
