Introduction

This is an improvement to the pulished...Ok, I'm not going to do that gimmick again ;)
This is a 3 frame improvement over Happy Lee's submission.
The improvement comes from 8-4 where damage is taken. Instead of taking it from the plant, I get hit by a fish which causes the screen to scroll. This means less backtracking to get to the pipe (in fact I never have to jump off the pipe).
While the improvement is small in frames, it is rather noticeable visually.
The reason the submission time is longer is because I record until the axe. Given the close competition this movie is receiving, I think it is the best for comparisons.
Thanks to klmz and andrewg who both had the idea of taking damage from a fish.
I also tried the idea of Lord Tom & andrewg of manipulating the plant to not appear. However, this seems way slower because the plant will appear unless you are VERY close to the pipe. Too close to get any kind of reasonable scrolling to happen. (I'd love to be wrong about this, if anyone wants to try).
I've been bested again!

The idea for improvement didn't come from the author of this movie and it seems to be rather identical to the other submission other than that (without having watched either). I think the author of the earlier submission would have improved the movie on his own if he had been told the idea for improvement and was given enough time. In one of his posts in his submission thread he asks for details on how his run would be improvable, but it seems he received no answer. I think he should be the (co-)author of this movie.

It might a good idea to do so then. This is a tweaked version of my previous submission. Stylistically it is mine, not HL's. andrewg had the initial vague idea of screenscrolling while taking damage (about the same time as HL's current submission). We both discussed the idea and tried improving it. Klmz happened to come up with the same idea which is what he mentioned in HL's forum (without knowing we were already working on it). Neither made a wip (at least not to my knowledge) that was an improvement over HL. I happened to work the idea enough to make it faster so I submitted. At the very least I would think that the argument would be including andrew or klmz as authors, not HL.

A lot of submissions of a TAS of a game will seem like other submissions of TASes of the same game, assuming you don't actually watch the runs. Besides that, you could make the same argument about Happy Lee's run, as it knocked adelikat's previous submission into gruefood territory over a "minor improvement" that was discussed in the submission thread. That aside, I feel I should say again that I like adelikat's style. Nicely done.

I apologize then. I knew I could be a bit off with what I'm saying which is why I included the part in the brackets. I didn't want to take the time to get what's necessary to watch the runs, but still felt the need to speak out, just in case. :X

I find it funny that there's a frame war over optimizing an April Fool's Day submission. Just once, I'd like to see a frame war end in a collaboration instead of a continuous fight.
