Yeah, that route is from Expert mode. The other run looks unbeatable from its difficulty and Expert isn't unlocked from the beginning.

*cough* But, yours looked like it couldn't really be improved, and not on Expert Mode, so I'm assuming the 32 point difference comes from the other difficulty? What's the route plan that you're taking? I'm guessing Corneria, Sector Y, Aquas, Zoness, Macbeth, Area 6, Venom 2? I'm really looking forward to how this turns out; you're off to a great start. =D
*coughs back* :) I have my doubts on whether or not Corneria can be improved, but I think the most I can squeeze out is probably one or two points with a lot of tries, so I'm just moving onto Sector Y. As for the route, you guessed right! It's been proven to be higher-scoring for many Star Fox 64 players, so we'll be going the same way. I highly doubt Katina or Meteo can yield enough points to makeup being outscored in Sector X by the majority of Red-route planets. Thanks! Hopefully I'll manage to keep going this time. :) Edit: I believe Corneria has an extra 14 enemies on Expert mode, if I remember correctly, so +28 points to my total would be what I'd get on Corneria Expert mode. (373, which falls short of nangosan's video of 377 for some reason, despite me scoring off 6 of his shortcomings, namely group CUS.) If Corneria had an extra 19 enemies as opposed to 14, then I would be okay since on comparision, I scored 6 more than him. He would have 38 extra points (19 enemies x 2) 377 - 38 = 339. My score is 345, which is 6 more, so I'd have 383 on expert... I have no idea. I am so screwed. Where did I miss 10 points?

Check right before the waterfall. Did nangosan do something different in the field to the left? I thought he did a CUS, then a loop de loop, then CUS/bomb combo.

It seems he only got 5 points out of that, while the delayed CUS/bomb that I did got 6. The real problem is where those little hoppers are, because he reaaaaally outscored me there. I had a talk with a few Star Fox 64 players (zallard, ingx) and they gave me some extremely helpful information! Expert mode has an additional 34 points (or 16 enemies, two of which require an extra CUS to take down, thus the extra 2 points.) This means that with this run being duplicated on expert, I'd get 379, which is 2 points ahead of nangosan's run. Problem is, I outscored him 6 pts in the first half on some mistakes (namely group lock-on CUS), but he outscored me in the second half by 4. By imitating what he did, I can retain my 6 point lead and regain four to make my total score 349 (or 383 on expert). Back to the drawing board for Corneria.. I got my hopes up too fast on thinking I beat it. T_T

Remember one submission where the submitter forgot to include the save state file? For an expert mode run, I suggest using the reset recording emulator and have the (EEPROM) save file ready.

Assuming this gets done. They are dedicated to getting it perfect the first time.

lol...oops. How do I delete posts again? I was actually being totally serious. I check this topic every once in a while in hopes something has been done. And every time I see something done I enjoy every minute of it. There's a few runs around the N64 part that I like and hope one day gets taken up.

Playing from predefined save: EEPROM/SRAM/Flash: Include the save file to download and use the reset recording variant of the emulator. Savestate: Include the savestate required to view the movie. Mempak: Include the mempak file and have the controller connected with mempak.

Is anyone else keeping an eye out for hgr128? He's been making a lot of TASes for Star Fox 64! Meteo - 639 Katina - 399 Solar - 361 Fortuna - 152 Sector X - 397 Titania - 410 Bolse 342 And there's more on his Youtube, and the last three are all within the last few days. I'd keep an eye out for him. ;D

I have been keeping an eye. He still misses a few opportunities, and exclusively plays J ROM on Expert, and doesn't have quite the entertainment flair that meepers or myself had.... but it's definitely worth seeing if he'd be willing to do a redline, U ROM, normal high score TAS.

There are some of better score vids in nico. These are on J ROM and normal mode. Solar - 382 Katina - 423 Meteo - 710

There may be enough run material there to steal hijack inspire enough for a full run. >_>;; My thoughts, though, is that for the run, it may be best to go for Hard Venom via Area 6. It may be slower, but it's technically the 'good ending', which would be more entertaining.
First a movie gets submitted, and ends up accepted despite breaking rules other runs have been rejected for. And when I vote less than spectacularly on this movie, I become the victim of harassment and threats. Yay, favoritism.

As far as I know thus far all planned runs for this game have been score attacks rather than speedruns anyway. Area6 is the highest scoring level IIRC, so unless things change when a run is finally made you will get your good ending. "Only I have the brains to rule Lylat" etc.

what about doing 100%? there's a 2006 run at speed demos archive that passes through all stages, always resetting before venom starts then uses the red line route and finishes the game.
My first language is not English, so please excuse myself if I write something wrong. I'll do my best do write as cleary as I can, so cope with me here =) (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ

I looked around and I couldn't find this thing in specific. I was wondering if there is a TAS of someone doing the warp in meteo in cockpit view. I managed to do three rings as a kid, but I eventually gave up on doing it because it's really hard. It's one of those "Now I can die happy" kinda things lol.

Three rings? Do you mean Training Mode instead of Meteo Warp?

No, what is meant are the warp rings right before the boss of Meteo that take you to Katina/Katarina if you go through all seven of them. Try going into first person mode as soon as you begin rotating, and then try to go through all seven of them. You'll see it's extremely difficult.

Oh duh, thanks. Doing the warp rings, not the warp level. That would be interesting to see.
