The playback of this run comes to a speedy end by means of many glitches and using JPN rom. This rom can show the message quickly than others. They'll allow to complete this game within an hour. All of the glitches and some techniques I used are only existing one. I deeply appreciated people's great discoveries and researches.
Incidentally, this run was made as just amusing movie for Japanese video site. After the putting on view in the site, I was proposed trying to submit to TASVideos. So this run contains some joking factors, slow parts and going through old route. That's why It'll able to be clipped several minutes off the records in the run.
However, as a result of thinking, I decided to submit because I won't try again in the near future. Although opinions may vary on using JPN rom, I hope you like it.

The following glitches and techniques are mainly used:
  • Escape forest with water jumpslash ESS
  • Skip the owl with Deku Stick
  • Get Gold scale in childhood
  • Skip Door of Time
  • Steal Rod
  • Bottle Adventure
  • Skip Gerudo Bridge with Hookshot
  • Skip Ganon's Castle Trials with Bomb Hovering
  • SS to Ganon to keep Master Sword

adelikat: The ending input was way longer than necessary. I chopped it and replaced the movie file. This movie is sub 1 hour!

mmbossman: The two main goals of this site are to provide entertaining movies which are typically as fast as possible. However, sometimes one facet takes more precedence than the other. We have several well optimized movies which are less than entertaining to watch, and we have some that have known improvements but have been published because they are very entertaining. Usually these known improvements are small, however the improvements they provide to the previously published movie are usually small as well. Here, the improvement is clearly much more substantial.
So that leads us to two possible solutions: 1) accept this run for what it is, an entertaining run with some flaws that obsoletes one of the two runs we currently have which can be beat in real time, or 2) reject it due to known improvements and mildly suboptimal level of play. After reading through all the responses in the discussion thread, I feel it better benefits the site and our viewers to accept and publish this run. Do I wish this run integrated some more of the known tricks which have been pointed out? Sure I do. However I don't believe that it is a wise decision to await a "perfect" run which may never come, while in the mean time continuing to have a run published which is worse than a real time run. So I am accepting this submission.
This acceptance will not result in a change of policy regarding (U) ROMs being preferable to (J) ROMs. Any future improvements should use the (U) ROM, and any resulting time lost due to slower text screens will not be used to penalize that submission, just as any time gained from faster text screens was not factored into the judging decision for this run.

Aktan: Processing... (taking forever to audio sync it)

EZGames69: For anyone planning on encoding this in the future. Make sure you use the same plugins that are listed, especially the input plugin as using the wrong one can cause a desync. And also make sure "Raw Data" is checked in the plugin settings for the input plugin. and finally for the RSP plugin, make sure you select "set to process alists inside the rsp". That should be all.

Holy crap it got published! Now we just need a new Majora's Mask, because the current TAS is slower than the unassisted speedrun. I'll make a crappy ~1 hour TAS of that in a week and piss of all the experts who have been working on this for years, and I'll take all the glory to myself and all the ignorant people on the youtube comments page will think that I'm the master of Majora's Mask, haha... just kidding. Btw, you might want to fix the screenshot for this TAS, there's some jagged aliased edges.

Yea, that was due to rush publishing instead of waiting for me. I'll go fix it with the right one now. Edit: Fixed with correct screenshot.

Yeah, right when I saw that I wondered why it wasn't the screenshot. :( Glad you've fixed it.

Incredible! Ever since I learned of the Reverse Bottle Adventure, I've been waiting for this TAS to replace the outdated one by GuanoBowl. It was an entertaining watch, and I didn't even realize it was possible to save time by getting Ruto's bottle instead of Anju's bottle. Now all I need is MrGrunz's TAS of Majora's Mask and I can die a happy mask salesman. :)

While it is fastest to get that paticular bottle, it's slower to get that bottle combined with getting the scarecrow song. Not to mention it made the horrible mistake of not obtaining the song at the first opertunity, then going back to get it after, that route planning error cost well over a minute.

Not about to read through 11 pages of debate. Just wanted to say I generally stick to the rules, but I don't mind bending them in extraordinary circumstances, eg. a massively popular game has an incredibly outdated TAS, and is superceded by technically imperfect run on the (J) version, but by a Japanese person; and a closer-to-technically perfect (U) version run is on the way anyway. I figured, if we don't accept this, then tasvideos might stand to lose a little "bragging" authority in the TAS world.

I would imagine that even if Swordless Link and co. decide to make their super-optimized version on the (J) ROM, many people will still vote for it, on account of it being a lot faster and more optimized...even if using a Japanese ROM is frowned upon. I personally would vote yes, anyway. I just wouldn't expect everyone to vote yes to all Japanese submissions in the future. Personally I have nothing against using them, but when the difference is negligible for a newly TASed game, then using a more widely-spoken language, game title, etc. makes sense. The argument about not knowing what's going on is absurd, by the way. English is my first language and I have no idea what's going on in most of the videos on this site.

In this particular case, if you watch the video, you'll notice that there's a lot of text which is shown on screen long enough to be easily read and understood (provided you know the language, of course). Using the English version is very warranted entertainmentwise.

I did watch the video, and I feel that people (who know the game even a little bit) would still be confused as to how he knows certain songs, gets the bridge to form, why he keeps dumping and recatching bugs, etc...a lot of the text shown is "you got ___" and then the credits, of course, which aren't part of the gameplay.

Oh, so they went with bombface for the screenshot. I thought it'd be funny to have one from when he's keeling over with Sheik behind him... "That's what you get for turning your back on a ninja!"

I don't know how plausible this is, but if someone could make a version of the .AVI or .MKV with subtitles explaining a lot of the glitches, it seems like it would be greatly appreciated. Heck, I'd even write the subtitles with the relevant times they should be displayed if someone else would put the video together.

Most people don't get BA and RBA before trying it out themselves or being corrected in their false assumptions several times. So I'm not sure if subtitles would suffice to explain what's going on behind the scenes. Maybe a tutorial video with lots of visualizations would, but I doubt anybody will care to make one.

It's easy to do with MKV or MP4 as softsubs. But yea I would need that text file first.

Check out the FAQ I posted earlier in this topic: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=229494#229494 If you have any additional questions after that, feel free to ask. Also, the subtitle explanation sounds like a great idea.

Commentary would be nice. I was really happy with examples of that I've seen so far on this site. Listening to them was everything Youtube should be... I don't think RBA is that difficult to explain. I've found the information posted here so far to be quite satisfactory. It would be pointless to assume an audience that doesn't understand what it means to "overwrite a memory address" for such a thing because anyone that inept probably thinks it's all a bunch of "hacks" anyway.

I do agree that Commentary is fantastic. If anyone is interested, here's a thread on the SDA forums listing all the 'commentaried' runs they have: http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php?topic=8356.0 Commentary makes me watch runs for games i've never even played! I'd love commentary for this video as well, as i've seen the RBA glitch before in previous non-published TAS runs on Z:OoT, and i've briefly read about the RBA glitch as well, but I don't get the trick with repeatedly releasing the bugs out of the jar and then catching them again. Back on topic, I was thinking that this video is a very exceptional case for voting 'yes' to, but it should be rated in the mid-ranges for lacking the full bevvy of currently existing tricks on Z:OoT. Out of interest, may I ask, who is working on the definitive Z:OoT (U)-version TAS?

For the movie that will obsolete this one one day, could someone please make an edited movie which, even very roughly, have cutted all the cinematics etc (and put its link on the submission, not obscurely in one of the many pages of the discussion about the submission) ? You really spend more time watching/skiping them than watching the run...

I have to disagree with that sentiment. The cinematics are an important part of what makes watching the TAS entertaining. At least 80% of the actual gameplay is Link side-hopping (with that annoying "uh! oh! huh! ah!" repeating over and over and over and...). The cinematics provide not only entertainment in the form of some kind of storytelling, but they also give a nice break from that constant moaning. Remove the cinematics and there will be almost nothing else left than the annoying moaning. Besides, editing the video goes against the basic principle that we don't edit videos (which would be true cheating): We show exactly how the game is completed as fast as possible, no faster.

The cinematics are just annoying, if you ask me. They are not part of the true TAS--they're skipped as fast as possible! They're not really meant to be watchable/readable. Thankfully, real media players make it a cinch to skip them.

Maybe we could then also skip the long side-hopping parts. They are annoying and don't contribute to anything. It's just Link traveling from one place to another, without anything important happening, and on the contrary being very annoying. (And a TAS tries to skip these travels also as fast as possible, after all.) Conversations with NPCs are all skipped as fast as possible in a TAS and aren't meant to be watchable/readable, so skip those as well. When Link gets an object from a chest, then those aren't "really" part of the TAS either. Remove those too. Climbing long ladders is boring and also done as fast as possible. Useless. Skip them. Hey, if we cut out all the boring parts we'll end up having a 5-minute run through Ocarina of Time. No boring parts whatsoever.
