Enjoy the comparison video:
Japanese versional Contra called "魂斗羅", I use this version and this version can save time in cut scenes. Use two players to finish this game as soon as possible.
  • Emulator used: FCE Ultra 0.98.15
  • Uses two players
  • Aims for fastest real time
  • Allows death
  • Uses programming errors
At level 2, making super fire is very important, control every frame and control S-gun bullets can make bullets in a line.
At level 3, making full use of double-floor jump. Three special double-floor jump point in it.
At level 4, in third stage, re-fire can be more faster. At boss stage, 1P helps 2P to destroy the boss.
At level 6, 1P is a leader in front of 2P, making full use of S gun and let boss to eat every bullets.
At level 8, mini boss and final boss are recording in single-frame.
I didn't use double S gun in level 4, it makes lags and waste lots of time, so just 1P use upgraded S gun.
Special thanks to: Xipo韩晖 helps me to research this TAS.

klmz: Claimed and replaced the submission file with one starting from power-on without an embedded savestate.
feos: Added YouTube module.
klmz: Accepted as an improvement to the published Movie [797] NES Contra (Japan) "2 players" by adelikat in 08:57.98. Congratulations!

Brandon: Publication underway.

Why does this begin from a save state?

If TASVideos can accept this TAS video, I have a require. Could you use this TAS video to make TAS movie, it's contain Gryzor(J)'s hiding ending, maybe it will make movie more good-looking. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1396343160/zyr2288-Gryzor-Hiding%20Ending.fcm

This is due to two bugs in old FCEU. I used JXQ's FCMFix to add a power-cycle at the beginning and remove the savestate: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1589510832/zyr2288-Gryzor_FixedPowerCycle_FixedSavestate.fcm I suggest the author to replace this submission with a fix version like the one above.
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

What do you mean exactly? To replace the submission with this longer movie?

No, Just my suggestion. Because I want to show the hiding ending in Contra(J), It doesn't mind if TASVideos don't use it. I don't know the old FCEU has bug in it, and I used it because it is chinese version. On the other hand, I created this file in two years ago, I fix it with FCEU .15 at nearest time. So I continue to use this emulator.

You - instead of us - should decide whether to replace the submitted movie with one beginning from emulator power-on. However, keep in mind that we don't accept a movie beginning from a savestate unless there is a good reason.

I will encode this. Just decide if I shall use this movie file, or it will be replaced.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I see, I hope TASVideos to use the first one, and forget the hiding ending, it doesn't matter. Beacause the first one is my normal TAS. On the other side, thanks Klmz to fix my record.

I have a question. Why don't you make 2P take shoot at stage 6 Boss? I think if 2P take shoot it will be faster.

NitroGenesis: I've embedded what I was doing. Also, comparison video is processing. The rest is up to anyone else.

Because boss eat one bullet in per frame, you can watch TAS video in your emulator. In level 6, I didn't use auto fire in boss stage.

Watched the encode, it was very nice. Though did you have to keep firing with the Spreader all the time? Is it needed for manipulation or spread gun optimization? Welp, here goes a yes vote, and thanks feos for the encode.

Spreader would normally fire in bursts and cool down until the amount of bullets on the screen is reduced to a certain minimum, so one needs to maintain a steady flow of bullets to keep their frequency at the maximum.

I watched this and the entire run except for like the final boss I was going "what's the point of P2?" Can't you give P2 a little more purpose other then to look colorful? >_>

Thanks for the comparison video, feos. It really shows the improvements in zyr2288's movie and which areas they were in. Yes vote for this stylish improvement to the published Contra run.
