BizHawk 2.4 has been released. This is a hotfix release, while also being a major version update - it is officially releasing the Vectrex core, and fixing some major Lua and TAStudio bugs that were introduced in the previous release. It is highly recommended to abandon 2.3.3 and upgrade to 2.4 instead.

Following the conclusion of a full decade (2010-2019) and of last year's award ceremony, TASVideos has opened up a unique award nomination procedure to determine the top 3 TASes and top 3 TASers of the previous decade. TAS of the Year and TASer of the Year award winners are included by default, but others are open to nominations as well over the course of the next two weeks - you can find the information and nomination topics for TAS of the Decade here and TASer of the Decade here.

Members from the general TAS community are excited to announce TASGiving, a charity marathon livestream that will be held Nov. 27-29 at TASGiving.org benefiting NAMI! The focus is on live commentary infused TAS content on emulator and console alongside traditional speedrunning and video game exhibitions. You can volunteer, submit content, or contribute in the TASGiving 2020 thread.
I was laid off in May 2023 and became too ill to work this year and could use support via Patreon or onetime donations as work on TASBot Re: and TASBot HD is stalled. I'm dwangoAC, TASVideos Senior Ambassador and BDFL of the TASBot community; when healthy, I post TAS content on YouTube.com/dwangoAC based on livestreams from Twitch.tv/dwangoAC.

BizHawk 2.6.1 is now released. This is a required update for all BizHawk 2.6 TAStudio users - there was a TAStudio savestate corruption bug that affected nearly every core. Everyone should upgrade to this release, and delete the savestate history of any projects they are working on (likely the savestates in the project are already corrupted). See the full release notes here: http://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/ReleaseHistory.html#Bizhawk261

We are moving our IRC server from Freenode to Libera, following many recent negative changes to Freenode. In 2017, ownership of Freenode was sold to an entrepreneur named Andrew Lee, and recently he has effectively taken complete control of it against the will of the staff, causing many of them to resign in protest if they weren't already forcibly removed from their positions. Since then, Freenode's actions under Lee have included updating their policy to explicitly remove a ban on unlawful content and hate speech, automatically seizing control of channels that mention Libera in their topics (this notably includes endrift's #mGBA channel, channels that explicitly mention NOT moving to Libera, and even channels that are not violating their new policy, but just happened to get unluckily targeted in the automated takedowns), targeting, punishing, and publicly mocking former Freenode staff, and silencing any and all criticism without warning or justification. As TASVideos staff, we can not and do not condone these actions, nor do we at all support the recent direction that Freenode has gone in, so we have collectively decided that moving away from Freenode as soon as possible was the best course of action. The process is not quite complete as of yet, however we strongly recommend that people migrate to #tasvideos on Libera immediately. Note: this news post originally contained a line disparaging Chris Punches, based on rash and incomplete information. This was an error on my part, and I apologize to Mr. Punches for any damage caused

The second iteration of TASGiving is due to be held from Friday, November 26th through Sunday, November 28th. TASGiving is a TAS-focused charity marathon that benefits NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The first TASGiving raised over $10,000 for NAMI, and this year we hope to achieve a similar success, or even better. Submissions are currently open, and will be running until September 15th. More information is available here.

We are in the process of overhauling what we previously called our tier system to what we now call a class system with Standard class replacing Vault. Standard will over time allow for more goals than what was allowed in Vault. We will be overhauling a lot of wiki pages for the near future, so there will likely be incorrect or outdated information present on them. We will also be in the process of moving movies into their correct classes. Once we are largely done with both of those things, we will add new goals and rejudge old submissions that apply. Discussion on what to implement into Standard and more general feedback is taking place in this thread. Announcements and documentation relating to the overhaul process is taking place in this thread.
