Adventures in the Magic Kingdom WIP Completes the game up to getting the first silver key (Pirates of the Carribean). Any comments would be appreciated. This run includes many leaps of faith that are near-impossible to do in realtime.

Yes, and I think I can get sub-10. I already have double the rerecords in the first two minutes than this guy had in his whole run XD.

Oh dammit, gotta redo the intro. Ah well, all my hard work in the Pirates level went for naught.

Okay, I've redone the first minute or so of this game. I answer the question (luck manipulate to get a question where the correct answer is A) and then went to the Haunted Mansion. The WIP can be found here.

Haven't watched the WIPs but I'm pretty sure you can't make an entertaining run of this game. Hopefully you can prove me wrong.

Sami: Those are just test runs. I need to finalize routes before I start TASing the whole thing. Any help would be appreciated.

I think how this should work now is that I'll post snapshot runs for each level and we should dicuss routes. I am DETERMINED to a) finish a TAS for once and b) make an unentertaining game entertaining. Any help would be appreciated. I have a few questions: 1) Is Callmewoof's route the fastest one? If not, how can it be changed? 2) Does anyone know of any glitches for this run, e.g. passing thru walls and platforms that will quicken the run? 3) Does left/right velocity play a factor in movement?

Hello! I am here to tell you that I am making a 100% TAS of Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. I have noticed that all TASers of AitMK, Aglar and Cammewolf, have closed their TASes, and now I am here to bring AitMK TASing back out from the grave. Any suggestions for my 100% TAS? I will post my TAS on this site when it is finished.

How exactly does 100% differ from any% for this game?

Here are all the requirements for 100%: -collecting all stars, but you may only collect each star once. After you collect a star, you may use it however you please. What I mean is you are allowed to press Select and buy anything you want with it (just as long as it saves time, of course) -collecting all candles in the Ghost House. After you collect a candle, you may use it however you please. Otherwise, just do all the requirements for any% as well. The WR for any% is 10:07"85 by Aglar (submission here: http://tasvideos.org/1748S.html), so the World Record for 100% may be around 12:21 or something like that. I guess we'll have to see what the time is when the run comes out.

It's been about 5 years or some ridiculous amount of time like that. Are you finished with your run yet? If so, I would like to see it. If not, send me the WIP.

So does that mean you would be doing Autopia and the train stage several times? I really don't think that's a good idea: this game has been criticized heavily for being boring as is, and repeating some of the more boring stages just to collect stars wouldn't help that at all. If you want to have a shot at your movie being published on the site, I'd say just stick to the any% and create a well optimized run. I can already tell you now that a 100% following your (somewhat arbitrary) definition will have a very low chance of being published. And I don't mean to sound harsh, I'm just being realistic here.

Autopia will have to be done at least 2 times, the first time I will just collect all the stars on one of the slower detours and then die on purpose. Then I will collect the rest of the stars and then complete the level. After I collect enough stars for 1 life, I will IMMEDIATELY (and I mean frame-precisely) get another life until I have enough lives to go through the train stage at least 3 times, because there are 3 detours which all have 1 or 2 different stars. On 2 of the turns, I will have to die on purpose. And then I will complete the level with the rest of the stars. The Ghost House and the Pirate Level will most definitely be entertaining, since I will be making some very entertaining jumps in those two levels. Also, I have two questions: 1.) Why did someone put these two topics together? It's confusing. 2.) I thought TASVideos was for best records, not just for entertainment. Wouldn't the watcher of my TAS only want the fastest time?

1) Only one topic per game is preferred, so that someone looking for information on a specific game will find everything in one place. 2) From the welcome page:
We make these movies because they are entertaining to watch
Some people on the site do feel that at least one run of each game should be published, regardless of how (un)entertaining the movie is, but still, poor game choice is grounds for rejection and runs of boring games have been rejected in the past just for bad game choice. "Bad Game Choice"? Really? I think that AitMK is actually a really fun game. I don't see why you all think it's boring. :(

There are some games published that really are more boring. Also, judges back in 2007 might be more strict. Just invent as much ways to entertain as pissible.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Just to let you guys know, I may revisit this game, but "100%" doesn't exist and is a bad idea. That category "Billy" referred to, if it could even be considered such, would be more along the lines of "all items", which, for this game, would be hell. I feel like sub 10 is possible, and there are some cool tricks in the levels that can be shown off. It might not be the best game ever, but it is a classic and is fairly well-known among "bad games" because it was a well-marketed Disney 1990 NES game. I already saw MESHUGGAH uploaded a WIP a few years back, so I may just add on to that. By today's standards, I believe the run would be admissible for vault, since it has 2 mini-games that are platformer which do allow for some neat tricks. If anyone would like to help with a future TAS of this game, please let me know. I'll let you know if I start any WIPs myself. Ta ta.

I have a TAS that's some hundred frames faster than published one. I stopped around the first scrolling level because too many lag frames required to be optimized without no knowledge of any lag indicator to rely on. I think it's newer than the uploaded WIP as I have a hundred (not uploaded) WIPs. So if you start, I will search for my last one and help you out.
